I had my psych eval today. This was the last appointment then they submit it all to my insurance. They said about 72 hours for review once they receive it. Is it normal to be so nervous? My surgeon said everything looks fine, shouldn't be an issue but I'm so anxious. I feel like I've got so much that I want to do but I still need to wait for the authorization. I'm just impatient I guess. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something. Here's to hoping I don't drive myself crazy.

Hi everyone! I have waited almost a year for this to come full circle. Just one more day and I will start a new chapter of my life : ) I am lucky to have a loving and supportive husband thru all of this. He's always told me I am beautiful no matter what. He's a keeper. I am tired of being tired. I am tired of missing out on all the rides at Busch Gardens for the last four years because I don't fit and don't want to be embarrassed by trying to fit. My goal is to be healthy and happy and ride that dang new roller coaster by the end of the year : ) I am scared I will fail. There is no room to fail yet the thought is there. One day at a time. Right : )

Having read everything I could get my hands on to about RNY I have come across a books called Weight Loss Surgery for dummy's & Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummy's . Out of all I have read I find these two most helpfull. And as close to what my doctor prescribes . May be others starting their Journy may want to read the first one and the cookbook well can't wait to try some of the recipes in it. Just my Opinion.

Hey peeps!! Just found this site and phone app! I am set to have my surgery on 7/24/2012. Currently 6'1 and weigh 320. I started my pre-op diet on 7/17/2012 and at that time I was 333lbs. I'm super nervous, I have all my vitamins and protein powder but I still feel ill-prepared. During this liquid diet I have been so tempted to eat something. My favorite things to watch on tv is always on the food network and I been watching it constantly just thinking about the foods I will not be able to have anymore. It's been depressing me A lot. I'm scared of something happening during the surgery, I have two little girls and the last thing I want to do is leave them without a fath…

Hello. I had my surgery on July 26 and was doing great up until this morning. I was takin one oxy at night for a bit of pain but this morning I woke up and have had horrible burning pain at the port incision. Yesterday I was very hungry- pms I think- and couldn't stop eating yogurt and pudding till 12am at night. Do you think it's related? It hurts most when I stand up or move or bend but not sitting still. I just called my doctor after 5 hours of pain and 2 oxys later. Any ideas??

I was having the WORST day at work today, then right in the middle of it, I receive a phone call from my bariatric doc's office. It's the lady who checks off all of the insurance requirements wondering why I missed my appointment on July 31st for my H.Pylori test, Upper GI and chest xray. I tell her, "I didn't. I was there and I had those tests done". Except for the chest xray which I had the tech at my office shoot me and I faxed the results over to them on July 20th. Well, it shows that I cancelled that appt, so I must not have been there and they have no results. WHY OH WHY do people argue? I tell her again, YES I WAS THERE ON JULY 31st and I DID HAVE MY TESTING DONE! …

I'm new to the site and should be getting my surgery date tomorrow. Getting nervous. Mostly I'm worried that this 100lbs is a medication issue and after all this I still won't lose anything. I've been working with a dietician since May with no results. ( like 3 lbs). Anyway, it's nice to see that I'm not alone. And I've gotten some insight regarding possible post op issues. So, thank you all. I look forward to this journey with you!

I'm seeing my surgeon for pre-op consult. We're going to set a date for the surgery (hoping for the week of the 20th, but will take sooner if offered!) Just so excited, scared, relieved, inquisitive, determined....*sigh* I could probably go on for days. I'm just ready. I'm ready for this weight to be taken off of my shoulders...figuratively and literally. I can't wait to be sitting on the losers' bench with all of you post-op'ers.

Really can't believe my surgery is on the 15! The day after my boyfriends BDay omg! I'm excited, nervous, anxious, and a whole bunch of other words I don't feel like typing lol I waited 2 freaking years for this and I think I'm more nervous about being "too skinny" than the actual surgery. I've been this size for as long as I can remember and for me to loose so much weight is kinda like loosing my identity everyone know me as "big & sexy" or "the cute chunky girl" I feel like I'm finally starting to "embrace the fatness" lol to just loose it all. I keep tryna imagine myself thin and it's kinda hard for me to grasp! Me? "Thin"? idk if I'd be able to handle all the new…

So the horrible lady at my dr's office that was such a bit** yesterday called me late this afternoon and said that she had not received the approval from Tricare but was going to go ahead and make the appointments for my preop class tomorrow at 830am, and I see the dr and go to hospital on friday at 130pm for preop test etc. Now...remember this is the same lady that raked me out just yesterday because I asked if she could make these appointments since she only had to submit the actual surgery date to Tricare for approval (they told her that was ALL they needed) and she said NO and yelled at me and got in to a huge issue with me... Now today she set all the appointments …

Hi all: I live in NY State, I'm 5'1", and weigh just under 200 pounds. I've battled weight my whole life, and in the last couple of years -- surprise, surprise -- I just can't lose, but I can gain at the drop of a hat. I am looking into Lap Band surgery that I can afford, since I have no insurance and am not eligible for Care Credit because of a bankruptcy a couple of years ago. Looking for a good package deal. Found the Tijuana doctors first, but I still have all those fears about going to Mexico for surgery. I'm sure there have been 1000s of great experiences, but of course, the press has always focused on the failures. I also found Dr. Weaver in Denver, who of…

My name is Jose. I am 55, living in the San Francisco Bay area. I am new to the site. I have been reading some of the postings here. they have been very helpful. I had my surgery last Oct, 2011. I My weight started at 242lbs, I am diabetic (not on insulin, just taking a lot of pills). I have been losing weight - am down to 210lbs. I was reading posts here that some have lost 50-100 lbs within a year and others that had band done years ago and only lost a few lbs. I was wondering what makes each one different, no exercise/over exercise, eating right foods/not eating right foods. I am still getting adjustments(fills) every two to four weeks. Dr. states he is still loo…

I had 1st surgery (gastric bypass) on Wednesday July 25th. Felt better than I ever felt and went home early on the 26th. Woke up on the 27th vomiting blood. Took 3 hrs to get back to hospital and back to my surgeon. Bowel had flipped at the "Y" connection and caused a bowel obstruction. Went back to surgery for repair. Morning after 2nd surgery was doing a little better but then it went downhill from there. By that evening was still vomiting and in a lot of pain only to find out that the bowels had flipped again. Back to the OR for the 3rd surgery in 4 days. They opened this time to find out the connection wasn't long enough. Every time I would stand up to walk it would…

I my name is Doris. I have been banded for 2 years. Have been having very bad leg and food cramps at night, for about 2 weeks now. I was wondering if this could be due to something I am not getting in my diet. Has anyone had that problem. I am 72 and have not lost near as much weight as I would like to. About 35 lbs lost. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Please advise.

Hi everyone. I'm Shannon, I've actually been banded since May 13, 2009. I started out great with the weight loss and now I've been at a plateau for the last 2.5 years! Luckily I haven't gained any weight back though. I recently went for a fill and had a different person that I had never met before and he made a world of difference from all the other fills I had. He gave me tips and suggestions and had some insight for me, rather than just giving me a fill and leaving me on my own to do this like the past providers have done. I hope to connect with others here and be a support as well have have others support me As well.

Hello... my name is Rhonda and I am a 38 yr old lady from NW Pennsylvania. I live with my boyfriend and have a 13 yr old son. WLS was always in the back of my mind, but the ignition point was my gall bladder crapping out in late Feb of this year. My doc wasn't the general surgeon I had requested, but rather his partner. They say things happen for a reason & my finding Dr. Kalim this was def divine intervention. Yes, it's his business, but he was very tactful in addressing my weight even before I had my lap chole. Upon my post op from the lap chole, Dr. Kalim again mentioned my WLS options. I have to tell you, I work at the same hospital and the bariatric pro…

After researching and wishing for nearly four years, I am finally going to a seminar. Yes, first actual one. Why? I don't like public. I don't feel comfortable outside my home. Yes, being overweight has turned me a bit agoraphobic. My insurance has a clause in it that specifically says NO BARIATRICS!! So that sucks but I am still going through with it. I like the sleeve better than the band for all the same reasons others have mentioned. I am going to just travel a few hours away for my surgery. Just scared of the tests leading up to it all. I don't have any other conditions (besides being too big) so I don't see a problem. I just see it as a hurdle in my way. When …

Hello! I am new here so let me give a little background... I am 35 years old, have been a type 1 diabetic for 25 years, and I use the OmniPod insulin "pump". I was just banded on the 22nd of May, so now I am 4 days post-op. As far as feeling frustrated and somewhat out of control; I think the info I was given by my surgeon is causing the majority of these feelings. I have quite a few handouts that list do's and don't's and have sample meal plans. I have also called their office a few times to make sure I am "doin' it right". I think because I haven't really been given or recieved any concrete answers it is causing me to be overwhelmed. I think I must have a significant a…

Hello Well I have finally decided to go for the Lap Band ( yeah me) I have been comparing the Lap band and the bypass and pretty much decided the lap band. So I have officially started my journey. I met my surgeon and he called and verified my insurance benefits, the only thing Im worried about is if I have to be on a supervised diet for 6 months because that’s one of the requirements ( Im hoping there is a way around that). I have to go visit my PCP to get the "ok" from her which I think will be no problem then on to my prerequisites for the lap band surgery which involves the pysch eval, etc. Im so ready for this weight loss tool because I have been on every diet you…

Hello everyone! I'm new to Lapband Talk and have not publicly discussed my band with anyone other than close friends. I struggled with having a not so good Surgeon, who cared less whether I hit my goal weight on target. Instead, he decieved me into choosing a lapband over Gastric Bypass and was reluctant to give me fills. This led to depression, feelings of being a failure in everyones eyes and me starrting back on appetite suppresants. It was not until I began to start over "cold turkey ", with exercising, dieting and getting the courage to hire another bariatric surgeon did I began to lose weight. I have had 3 fills, 1 unfill and now waiting to get another fill. I love …

I've put a short version of my experience on my blog: Water? That's a challenge for me so far. Lastly, things I miss - being able to chug water when I am thirsty and toast with my egg. Crazy huh? Hi Everyone, I'm Fiona and I live in Europe. I'm from the U.S. but relocated years ago after meeting my husband while on vacation. I'm 44 and, well, fat. I started seriously looking into having wls early this year, then with referrals and waiting to hear from insurance, I'm looking at having the procedure before the end of the year. I'm crazy-nervous, but not exactly about the surgery itself--more about life-after-surgery. A few years ago, my gall bladder had to be removed and because it was so deteriorated, it had to be done via open surgery. So, I'm thinking that after all of that, simply removing part of my stomach should be like a piece of cake--or sugar free…
