Post Op Complications

I had 1st surgery (gastric bypass) on Wednesday July 25th. Felt better than I ever felt and went home early on the 26th. Woke up on the 27th vomiting blood. Took 3 hrs to get back to hospital and back to my surgeon. Bowel had flipped at the "Y" connection and caused a bowel obstruction. Went back to surgery for repair. Morning after 2nd surgery was doing a little better but then it went downhill from there. By that evening was still vomiting and in a lot of pain only to find out that the bowels had flipped again. Back to the OR for the 3rd surgery in 4 days. They opened this time to find out the connection wasn't long enough. Every time I would stand up to walk it would pull the connection and cause it to flip. I'm still in hospital waiting for my small bowels to repair and start working again. I keep telling my self it's got to get better than this. I've had nothing but ice chips for 9 days now. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sending my best wishes fir a speedy recovery.

It did not happen to me but a coworker had the twisted bowel issue and now he has been post op over a year and has no issues. So it seems once they fix it you will be good- at least by looking at my friend. I might do and research on it. Btw he looks good and told me he doesn't regret it, I asked him before I did surgery

Thank you for letting me know. Just got home yesterday and doing very well.

I hope they fix you up fast so you can start your new life

Oh no!! I will be praying for you! Please keep us posted on your progress.

God before anything, Family before anyone, Home before anywhere. Priority..

Keep fighting the good fight man. It sounds like a bad situation but it will get better. I was re-hospitalized after my release as well. Been living on nothing but Protein Water ( Isopure ) but I can assure you it gets better. Once they have the bowel thing corrected you will be on you feet in no time.

Good luck and let us know how you end up.

That happened to my brother's father in law. He had 2 surgeries in 3 days and in the hospital for 6 days. 10 months out he is great, he doesnt regret it and is off all medicines. Feel comfort knowing it happens and they know how fix it. Praying for a speedy recovery!
