  4. I am 2 days post op. Sore as heck. Lots of broth, tea, water and jello. Gas X strips, phenergan and hydrocodone. Can't bear my meds crushed, so I'm taking them one at a time, 10 minutes or so apart and cutting the bigger pills into small pieces. I really want some real food!!! by the time I get done with this regime, I think I'll be a lot more appreciative of food than I ever have been before.

  7. One more week to go. Already lost 18 lbs on 2 weeks of liquid diet. I want something to eat so bad, but I don't want anything to delay my surgery, so I'm hanging in there. Good luck to everyone going to surgery tomorrow. Sending positive vibes into the Cosmos!

  16. I am so pumped and SO ready for this change! Congrats to the banded and good vibes to those heading into surgery today!!
  17. I have not had my surgery yet, but 42 lbs in one month is awesome! I am so grateful you posted this because my mind works exactly like yours, and I would (and probably will anyway) have asked the same question and been freaking out a little, too. It's a curse, always placing so much emphasis on what is wrong, rather than celebrating what is right! I guess some of us just go so many years thinking about things this way, that it's just hard to flip it around in our brains.

  21. Yeah, I don't know what the heck a ticker is! Lolol
  22. Dean, I am diabetic, and on a 2 week liquid diet. I have continued to take my metformin, a mild, low dose, and have simply checked my blood sugar periodically. I remain in the low abnormal range of about 110-160mg/dl...If it gets below 70mg/dl, consistently, I'll call my MD and hold my meds until I hear back from him. Interestingly, no one mentioned what to do about my diabetic meds with me either, but I am a nurse, and this is the kind of stuff I am used to dealing with.
  23. You two are so much braver than I am. Good luck to you both!
  24. Hi, I've been around for a few days. Figured out as much as I could without help, but I still don't understand how to #1) add friends? and #2) choose a before pic? I'm sure these must be posted somewhere, but I haven't stumbled across them anywhere yet.

  27. I haven't had surgery yet, but I am a nurse and Sharp pain is a sign from God that something is terribly wrong. Go to the emergency room!
  28. It's interesting to me that some are allowed to eat meat and veggies. My diet is all protein shakes and a small salad at night.
  29. OMG!!! Headaches and queesiness and heartburn, oh my! I am on day 5 of a 3 week liquid pre-op diet. I am not hungry, per se, but I've turned into a witch hermit and noone is allowed to eat in my presence (at home) except for my dogs...and I've thought about their kibble! Craving beef, cheese and potatoes, or anything salty. I asked the boy at GNC if anyone made roast beef flavored shakes!
  30. I've lost and regained 100+ lbs not once, but twice in my life. I am also losing a few pounds on the pre-op diet, but there is no way you can live out the rest of your life on 4 protein shakes and a salad a day...I being good because I know they'll sew me back up if my liver is not small enough come the day of surgery, then I'll have to reschedule and go thru it again. Have faith in your decision, most people have no idea what it's like to carry our burden.
  31. I'm new too, but I started slowly by replacing breakfast, then lunch with my Hi Protein shakes. I'm not hungry anymore, per se, but carb withdrawl is horrible. Headaches and queesiness mainly...grumpiness too! Luckily for me, everyone in my household can fend for themselves, so I can hole up in my room and not smell food!
  32. Hello Everyone! My name is Pat. I am a 51 yo home health nurse, wife and dog mom. I was a fat little kid, a chubby teenager, and morbidly obese since the birth of my first child. I have lost and regained 100 lbs twice in my life, and yo-yoed for years. I am on day 5 of a liquid pre-op diet. My surgery is scheduled for August 21st, I am plagued with severe headache and queesiness, but super motivated and well past ready to get this show on the road.
