Today is exactly 6 weeks post op.. I returned to Dr for my follow up.. I have lost exactly 40 lbs... He also said that my body is retaining 14% more Water than it did at my last visit 5 weeks ago.. My scale also has not moved in about 2 weeks.. And l am only urinating once a day, in the morning.. They tell me to watch my sodium intake, but l dont eat things high in sodium.. I dont add salt to my food either.. The Dr said that the extra 14% water equates to about 20 lbs... Have any of you experienced this problem?? If so, help me please!!!!!

I have worked in surgery for over 20 yrs. The doctor @ our hospital has done by passes and bands for 8 yrs but has only been doing sleeves for almost 2 yrs....this is what I've been waiting for! Plus in Jan. `our insurance is covering it like any other surgery! My surgery is scheduled for Aug. 13th...excited but also nervous...I know too much! Pre-op, since Jan. I'm down 24 lbs....I can't wait for my new future!!

After struggling and yoyo dieting for years, I finally decided to get the sleeve. I thoroughly researched the surgery and my surgeon before doing it and I am SO glad I did! I can't believe the energy I have now! I think getting your mind prepared is most important! I think that if I wouldn't have made sure that I really committed to changing my lifestyle, I wouldn't have been so successful so far! For those of you that decide on this surgery, you must be compliant or you just won't see the results! Rule of thumb...don't try to eat bad foods. Just assume you can't and DON'T!

I am super excited (and a whole lot nervous). I am getting my sleeve in less than 3 hours. I've run the whole line of emotions: happy, sad, excited, and scared. I second guessed myself and my decision last night but I am up and ready this morning!! I am so ready to get on with my life and to actually live. Prayers to all the others going in for theirs today. I wish you success and a speedy recover. I'll see you on the losers bench in no time!! Prayers are welcome and much appreciated!!!

Hello Sleevers! Those of you who have followed my posts before know that this has been an EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER! But I am so lucky and SO SO SO blessed! For those of you who don't know, here's the quick version: I started this journey back in February. It's been insane. All the classes, workshops, appts with everyone in the world, felt like it was never going to end. Then in June it seemed like things were all falling into place. I had my endoscopy on June 8th. Shortly after that, I got the call that would change my life forever. While doing my endoscopy they found 3 polyps. One came back as a Neuroendocrine Tumor. A long way of saying, I have cancer. I have been thro…

I would like to thank everyone for their support and for this wonderful site! My surgery is in the morning at 10:30 am. I am excited to start the new book, (not chapter), in my life. I am praying GOD will bring me through the surgery with flying colors as well as the healing process post surgery. I believe GOD who provided these weight loss surgical options to treat obesity. I am doing this for me and no one else. I have to take control of my life, (well GOD has control but you know I will be in sub-control, is that a word? LOL). Anyway, LORD willing I will be checking in with you guys possibly tomorrow night or Wednesday. LUV, LOVE and GOD BLESS all of you!!

Hello everyone, I'm MIke. I'm 38 (or am I 39, I forget), from New Orleans and I wanted to formally introduce myself to the forums. I've been a little chubby but the bulk, 100 pounds, I gained in past two years. I'm in drug recovery since February 16, 2010. I've switched addictions from drugs to food. Most of my weight gain in the last two years is a result of being clean and off drugs as well as the medication and a lot of tres leches cake., now that I have successfully passed my two year goal of being totally clean and have graduated from the medication, here I am 100 pounds heavier! My insurance (Medicaid) has approved my lap-band surgery and I am soooo looking forwa…

Oy... what a long week it's been so far, and being that tomorrow's my big day, it'll only be longer! Trying to reassure myself that I'm not crazy for doing this, and that it's too late to back out. Only one day of liquids & no food and I'm already feeling like shit ~ can't even imagine how I'll be at the end of the week.

I literally had my sleeve surgery a week ago (February 6th)! I had trouble in hospital since my blood pressure varies in extremes and then I had a reaction to the morphine that night after surgery. I was suppose to be in hospital a couple nights due to my problems, but after I felt I was not getting any help in hospital after surgery (literally was being ignored when I paged a nurse for help) I checked out and came home, literally walking out of the hospital on my own with not a soul offering to help me to the car. I plan to send a long letter to the hospital about the horrible treatment I received after surgery...and the letter will also be sent to my Dr. and everyone…

I got banded on August 16th 2012. Its been just over a week since I got banded and I am looking forward to loosing the weight. Pre-surgery I will tell you that the first 3 days of the pre-surgery diet were hard and I was cranky as hell. Had to tell my wife to just let me be as the diet was really hard to get used to If the pre-surgery diet was hard, the day before surgery with Zero calorie liquids was torture but I bore through it. Over all though the pre-surgery diet was very good for me, I lost 18 lbs on it and it has got me motivated and was the perfect platform for me. My surgeon Dr. Braverman did tell me that my liver was not much larger than normal at time of …

Hello Beautiful Bandsters! I've been reading all the forums and signed up today. I feel like I already know so many of you! Today I will be meeting the nutritionist and starting my 2 week Pre-op diet. I'm actually looking forward to it even though I am certain it will be a challenge at times. Last night I had "Before" pictures taken of myself - and I must admit....I didn't realize fully what I actually looked like until I viewed the photos. Have you ever actually taken pictures of yourself sporting very few clothes? Oh my goodness - what a reality check! Yes, yes....I cried - however, it was tears of hope....knowing that the new and improved vision I have will …

I just came home from a vacation in Las Vegas and i know now more than ever that this surgery is for me. I am sick and tired of being fat!!! I was embarrassed as men in their fifties were breezing by me as I was walking down the strip about to hyperventilate. I was embarrassed trying to squeeze into the seats at the shows we attended. I was embarrassed at struggling to fasten my seat belt on the plane. Most of all i was offended when not one but two flight attendants asked the passenger sitting next to me and my husband, who is the same size as me, if he was going to be comfortable sitting with us. I am hoping these last 3 months fly by and my insurance company approves …

My Dr told me to be eligible for surgery I would need to lose 30 lbs. I was thinking to myself, if I could lose weight I wouldn't need the surgery. But I am 21 days into my pre-op diet and have lost over 15 lbs. My wife who is also having the sleeve is in her clear liquid diet, I have decided to support her by limiting my diet to full liquid. This has helped, most days I have been able to keep my calorie count to under 1600. Wish me luck, we would like to get me scheduled for surgery by end of November. Wish me luck.

Hey all. I realized I posted over1.5 year ago and never updated. At that time, I made it clear that I mostly regretted the surgery, which I had in May 2009. I looked back and my weight at the time was 260. It is now about 275. I had the surgery at 322 (my highest weight was 365 I think). So, from my surgery, I am down 47 pounds. Not so great. And it's all my fault. I'm not going to blame this surgery. I still can't eat very much. And I am still eating when I'm not full instead of when I'm actually hungry (big, big difference). I am anemic and still have awful acid reflux. I take my Vitamins but not regularly. I'm a screw-up. I know what is right to do, but don't do it. …

Hi Everyone. My name is Dawn and I had my surgery on Thurday Aug 23rd. Prior to the surgery I was down 10 pounds because of the liquid diet. I went in on Thursday was weighed, had the surgery and was released home on Friday afternoon. When I got home, I was 11 pounds heavier! Now, 3 days later...I'm still trying to get to the weight I was at the day of surgery (3 pounds away). I have stuck to the diet like glue, drinking my proteins and my little bit of broth. Am I overreacting to this? I see my Dr on Wed, but I'd like to see if I could get others opinions. While in the hospital, I was connected to an IV drip the entire time and I can remember the bag being chan…

Hello everyone I have been on this forum for a couple of months now and decided tonight would be the night for me to share my story. My Name is Blannie and I will be starting my pre-op diet on tomorrow. My surgery is September 10th, 2012 with Dr. Marema. I have not always being fat and it wasn't until I was in my 20's when I started this love affair with food. I have had so many disappointments when it has come to men in my life that it is ridiculous. I have tired every diet known to man and had some success but would always gain the weight back and most times double! I am tired of hearing people say when they find out about me having WLS..YOU ARE NOT THAT BIG or why…

banded Aug 20. Its been a long time coming but I am so glad after raising 9 kids its my turn to do something for myself. The acid reflezs/heart burn has been the worst but a friend had me try pantopprazole and its alot better now. Anyone else having this problem ? and what do u find that works? Nice thing with reflexs is it forces me to eat slow and very little which has been a good thing but it hurts. Still in the Jello, Soup, pudding, drink stage what is a good thing to start next? thanks, Line-Dancer

Hello everyone: I am Jeff....38/Male from Pennsylvania. About 29 months ago I was injured at work...as a PreHospital Nurse. The injury was to my talks, a fracture and also a grade 2 case of Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction. Workers Comp had me to 3 Drs before we found out what was wrong. In August of 2010 I had a 3 joint fusion in my foot. A repeat procedure in August of 2011 for non union. Since my injury and being confined to crutches I've packed on an additional 90 pounds. Currently I am 5'8" and weight 430#. The surgeon demanded I have bariatric surgery before he fixes my foot. The inability to move...let alone exercise is more frustrating than I'd have ev…
