Am so happy!! After 3 years of fighting tooth and nail to get surgery, I would have to wait another six months just to send to insurance!! (

I have decided to just self pay, my health is more important to me than waiting around another six months!! Now the date is set and I'm sper excited!

I am happy that I have found this site! Everyone seems so encouraging and supportive!

If anyone can give me any tips I would appreciate it!

My dr says I may not even need to do the liver shrink liquid diet before! That is exciting!

I have been overweight my entire life! Right now I am 306 and my goal is 160. I'm smiling as I type that, it seems so unattainable but I know I'll get there! I'm excited to be the person on the outside that I have always been on the inside!!

Insurance company can be a pain sorry to hear you have to pay your self but your on your way to better healt. Good luck

Are you sure you don't want to wait just a little longer. This surgery is expensive with out insurance.

I know, it is expensive but I am to the point where my health matters more. My hospital has. Cash pay price of $18,000.00 so it's cheaper but still expensive. I'd rather be healthy than buy a new car this year .

Agree with you your health is more important. I wish I had money for plastic surgery. Trying to save but too many bills at the moment.

We all have to do what we have to do

Health is higher up the list of stuff i need. Though I would look real good on a new 3 wheel Harley. Maybe next year right

So true so true!!! I will be happy to actually ride my Harley without feeling like everyone is staring at me!!! Lol

I hear you about being impatient and wanting to do this right away. I, too, was impatient and didn't want to wait, but had to for insurance reasons. However, the six month period of time really FLEW by and was also beneficial to me in preparing for this. Let me give you a few examples. During the six month period, I:

• Learned as much as I could about the surgery and how to be successful
  
• Prepared myself mentally for the lifestyle changes that would be required
  
• Cut sugar from my diet to help ready myself
  
• Reduced my caffeine intake
  
• Gained new habits like not looking for the closest parking space, but taking a distant one in order to get in more walking.
  
• Set expectations and context for family members
  
• Established my support mechanisms
  
• And more!

Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

My last appointment is October 23rd then it will be the waiting on insurance approval part. So knowing I have to be on a one week pre op liquid diet I am looking at November as the earliest time for surgery
