I'm Lyn 37 female 320-325lbs 5'6 BMI is 41. I have pre high blood pressure, possible sleep apnea, and severely bad knees. I'm been obese a majority of my life. I'm tired of being tired. I want energy, I want to be able to walk without being tired and having my knees hurt. So after several months and months of trying it do it the non surgical way. I have decided to attend a seminar this Wednesday. I'm excited but nervous too. I really want to feel better. Also nervous about my insurance approval (Athem bcbs) I've been reading the forum and have gotten excited and scared at the same time. I will be checking in after my seminar on Wednesday .... I'm ready to star…

I can't see my Dr. Until Sept 12th but Nurse said sometimes it gets inflamed and they will have to do a port revision or it's just the muscles soreness since I have lots weigh. Has anyone experienced this?

Good Morning Everyone, My Name is Heather and this is the first time I am visiting this wonderful site. I am 35 years old and have recently been approved for vertical sleeve gastrectomy. at this moment I weigh 400lbs. My journey began in November when I took a fall and became painfully aware of just how badly my weight affected my health. I wasnt hurt badly but doing little things became a monumental task because of my weight. It was like having the curtain pulled back on my life and I realized just how many adaptations I had made for my weight without even realizing I was doing so. I had thought about weight loss surgery on and off for the last few years but had no…

I know this is going to sound petty but I needed to share with someone. I just went to a meeting at work where we were given promotional t-shirts for a new product. The shirts all had sticky notes with names, and when my boss handed me mine it was at the very bottom and I saw that is was a 2x. Prior to surgery I wore a 2x so this wouldn't have normally bothered me except that I realized she had given another woman at my job (who I feel is notably larger than me and even was prior to surgery and 20lbs ago) a 1x. I've been a lot more confident about my body since after the surgery and that just kind of felt like a slap in the face of what I didn't want to feel anymore. We e…

So I have been mia for a while now, and must say I have missed this forum. I have had so much going on, my dd was in the hospital, then my granny was in the ICU for 3weeks, underwent 2 emergency surgeries and eventually subcumed to the illness last week, travelled outta state for the funeral. All three kids have started school, and my phone (which is what I use this app on) has been swapped out 5xs til it finally got fixed (i hope)..... With all this going on, I looked at the calendar to see my surgery is in 2days!!!!! Excited but overwhelmed at the same time. Hope everyone is doing well and I have truly missed the supportive friendships on here! Hugs to you all! …

I am in my first week of the Meal Replacement stuff and am having a horribly hard time getting through this. The 2nd day into it I was soo Hungary and took my migraine medicine which has a lot of caffeine and I basically started to pass out, and had horrible cold sweats and felt like I was going to throw up. I feel like im craving everything. This is much harder than I anticipated and I have 3 weeks to go. I've lost 6 pounds so far though and started this is Wednesday or this week and today is Sunday. So the progress is pretty good but I am miserable. I feel weak all the time and light headed. I just wanna get through this so I succeed with this surgery afterwards but im …

Haven't posted much since I made the 'big' decision! Made it through day 9 of pre op liquids. Feeling a little fuzzy-headed but seems to be clearing. The last 3 days have been spent mostly in the hospital with my 92 year old dad. Can I say that cutting up his roast beef with vegs. without a taste was an act of sheer willpower? NEVER has hospital food looked like such a wonderful gourmet meal! LOL! I have done it and to be true to myself, not one cheat. Not even a taste. My reason for the sleeve is that I have lost and gained a small city over my lifetime. This time, I have a tool to help me not to fail. My daughter had this surgery last year, same dr/hospital.…

Hello All - I am just starting this journey to getting sleeved. I met with my PCP last Thursday, she sent a referral which got approved by my insurance to the bariatric surgery department. I attended a mandatory orientation last night, and the bariatric surgery department contact me this morning and I am scheduled for my 1:1 consultation with the surgeon this Friday! This seems to be moving so very quickly for me. Has anyone else had this experience? A little about me - I am 34, 5'4" and weigh 270 pounds (BMI of 46) (boo). In 2009 I was diagnosed with Melanoma and have since had 5 surgeries, 9 months of experimental chemo and a host of other medical problems. I …

Hi everyone, my name is Ericka i found this site while researching on the sleeve. Today was my 1st appointment and the Dr. recommended the sleeve. I will be starting my nutritionist appointments next month. I am still unsure about this as any surgery is risky and i am really afraid of undergoing any changes to my body like that, especially since this surgery is permanent. i guess i have alot of time to think about this, i always have the option of changing my mind during or at the end of the 6 month weight loss program. So lets see. I will pray on it. And i also look foward to getting some insight from everyone on this site who have done this surgery.

I had a rough post op period felt horrible and my potassium level was critical low then I have had 4 surgeries since mostly orthopedic and a car accident I'm still being treated for. I was introduced to this site this spring(it's a great site) so my progress has been slow but steady goal is to loose 100# as of today 68 pounds down. This week I had fluoroscopy to check restriction as I had a major food bolus stuck which caused reflux which has now healed. I was disappointed that I did not have a tiny fill but with 5cc in a 10cc band I was told I have good flow and restriction ???ŠSo now my challeng…

Today I start my sixth week (exactly 5 weeks post op) and I was 258 this AM. Just got out of a 5 days stall but prior to that I generally watched the scales move about a pound per day. Gee, sure would be nice if that continued...ohhhh, for about the next 130 days , but I'll take what I can get. This weekend was actually my first experience with real food and all I can say is...I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!!!!!!! I have had ZERO problems at all thus far. I have not had a problem with anythi…

Well gang I did it yesterday...took some pre-op pics. Then I went and had them developed at a target. Instantly I had proof as to why I need this surgery. My underarms are flabby and sag, my man boobs are bigger than some girls I know and I have what looks like wings of fat on my back. This is a good starting point. I'm using this as my fuel to keep my motivational fire burning strong.

I've just had the past few weeks from hell. Had been feeling "off" a bit... Not quite right. I ended up in the ER on Tuesday with severe pain (that I'd had before, but had wrongly attributed to/been diagnosed as having a umbilical hernia that developed after I was sleeved). It turned out to be a gallbladder attack and I was told I had "ALOT" (almost 20!) of gallstones. I was treated for pain and released. Took Wednesday off (only by docs orders). Against my better judgement, I went to work Thursday still in a lot of pain b/c I had a big project due. I went back to the ER after work and was immediately admitted with an inflamed/infected gallbladder so it wouldn't ruptur…

And yet a 3rd insurance company... same results. I was finishing nursing school at the time. I knew I wanted to work for the State in Mental Health and I've always heard that the State's insurance covers it. I committed myself to getting it ASAP. I started my new job last year. Hi everyone! I'm not sure I'm doing this right, but here goes. I'm scheduled to have my sleeve on September 21st, the day after my 56th birthday! I'm a little anxious, and occasionally think about everything that COULD go wrong, but I know that this is a new beginning for me. I have struggled all my life with my weight, and have been at least 100 pounds over weight for the last 25 years. I have never had any kind of anesthesia, even when I got my wisdom teeth removed, so I'm a little apprehensive about the whole surgery thing. My surgeon told me I would stay overnight in the hospital and get to go home the day after. So.....how was everyone's recovery post surgery?

Yesterday I had a bit of a scare. I was taking a drug called Savella for Fibromyalgia. Well, I went ahead and crushed it into my broth and took it. I was going to try doing a liquid diet for a few days to help starting today and I guess I must be hypoglycemic because after one cup of coffee and a protein drink I started feeling really shaky and sweaty and felt out of control so I hurried and made another 8 ounce protein drink and it didn't help so ended up eating a sandwich. So after feeling like a failure because I couldn't even go a day I ended up eating 2 slices of pizza and 5 chicken wings. HELP!!!!
