  1. Started by Sharenlj,

I'm almost three months post surgery and i feel great. When I started this whole process I was 343 lbs. I'm now at 257lbs. I was taking 2 blood pressure medicines and now I'm not taking none. I had a lot of problems but after the second month things got better. I'm still have issues eating because I learning how to eat again. But the good thing is i used to hate taking picture and now I like taking them because I can see the change.

  4. Started by rndani85,

I woke up feeling so much better today, it was unbelievable. I made the mistake of eating 3 bites of a scrambled egg in under 5 minutes. Ohhhh, the pain. I guess I was pushing my luck a little, huh? I took a shower and had my niece drive me to Walmart so I could grocery shop. I could tell I was pretty fatigued. I moved slow, but completed my grocery list. Once I got home, I pureed sweet and sour chicken lean cuisine. I found a method that really worked for me. Eat a teaspoon every five minutes. I managed to get 5 teaspoons in. Thankfully the discomfort that comes with eating post op has died down a lot. I'm averaging 1-2 naps per day, but I'm feeling better each day…

  6. I am going to be there from the 28th-3rd. I will be getting my surgery done at Clinica Jerusalen...

  7. Started by rndani85,

I'm starting to get the hang of this! I'm not in any pain whatsoever and the soreness is almost completely gone. What a relief. I didn't even require a nap today. The best part of the day was when I was able to lie on my tummy for a bit and watch tv. I'm a stomach sleeper. Oh, how I've missed it! The challenge I have met today is getting in my H2O. Not drinking 30 mins before or after a meal is easy enough. Unless you're trying to eat 5-6 meals per day. I guess I should start getting up before 10 am to make this goal more achievable. I was able to have 4 meals with 2 yogurt snacks in between. My H2O intake was shy by about 40 oz. Yowza. I'm gonna have to get this thing…

Hello All, I'm new to this forum. My surgery is scheduled for March 20th and my surgeon is Dr. Chau out of Princeton, NJ. Anyone out there ever use him? I'm 59 years old, 5'7" tall and currently weigh 335lbs. I can't wait for my surgery date to get here so I can start my new life.

I have been lurking on the site for a while (I guess you can call it that). I feel that it is finally time to tell my story. Hello everyone, my name is Shirley; I am currently at 344 (that is what the evil scale told me when I last went to the doctors) and am 28 years old. I have been looking into getting banded for several years and finally have decided to go for it. My current BMI is over 50 (I am 5’9”) but everyone says that I am very well built (I guess I hide my fat very well but it is still there, I know it every time I look in the mirror). I first started my journey in April of 2012 with all the documentation that I needed but all it took was one horrible phone…

It was 4am, and super cold outside (like it usually is in the winter...) and I woke right up when the alarm went off. I wasn't allowed to shower that morning, but I had to wipe my abdomen with this weird sticky wipes..gross. We had to take our 6 year old daughter with us because our babysitter caught the flu at the last minute. She had to miss school that day because no one was going to be home to get her up and ready. Her and I had packed a bag of her toys, and made sure the DS and iPad were fully charged to keep her occupied. 4:30am, we were off. Stopped by to pick up my best friend who wanted to see me off before she had to go to work. We arrived at the hospital at 5:3…

First of all, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for educating me more than any article or book could have. 4.5 months post op and concerned the pounds will stop falling off. Doc thinks I might be falling behind the curve too. All the charts show a drastic slow down in months 5,6,7... I'd like to be in onderland by June, but that could be optimistic. If things stay the way they are now, I'll get there, but not if the fat loss slows down. The last three months I've lost 12-13 pounds consistently, so I'm upping my workouts and keeping my calories at or below 900 per day. Thoughts or insights? I had Gastric Sleeve surgery on 1/17/13. I'm down 19 lbs so far, but I have not lost anything in the past 5 days. I'm taking in protein at each meal and veggies. I have about 1/4 cup of fruit each day also. I'm drinking about 50oz of water each day and drinking a protein shake once a day also (Shakeology). Any suggestions on why I'm not losing weight? I estimate I'm taking in about 400-600 cal a day.

  31. Hello everyone - I am happy to have found these forums thanks to the suggestion of my BFF Where to start? Well, the first 20 years of my life, I was skinny. Not just slim, but skinny... I graduated from high school at 115lb which was pretty small for 5"4'. I had no understanding of overweight people, and was probably unitentionally judgmental of those who were bigger. Then, I began to change... the weight slowly began to creep on - there are various reasons for this which I am aware of. By age 21 I was 200lbs... and I have not seen a "1" in front of my weight since (other than for an extremely brief period). I got married, had two children and have done several m…

My name is Teresa, I have always struggled with my weight, yoyo dieting, diet pills, various programs. I am what I would call a stress eater. Use food as my crutch. When happy, sad, mad, food always made it better. Finally at 47, 5'2'' 211 lbs, decided to get sleeved. After some research, I chose Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico. He is awsome. On Jan 5th, had my surgery, am now down 23 lbs. I've been at 23 for a week, I'm learning that is normal. I've decided not to weigh often. At first I felt so elated but lately I've gotten a case of the blues. Someone tell me if this is normal. Today is first day back on regular food. I am learning that is gonna be a process. …

Hi all, Gosh, I remember joining VST a bit over 2 years ago, when I was seriously thinking of having surgery. At the time I weighed over 230 lbs., which when you're a little 5'1" woman, is a lot of excess weight (100 lbs. to be exact). It's been an amazing 2 years since the wonderful Dr. Aceves performed my surgery and helped me get to a healthier and happier life. I'll be honest, I've made mistakes. A lot of mistakes. I wasn't very strict with myself during the honeymoon phase after surgery, and as a result I didn't lose as much weight as I could have. Before I hit goal I started eating a lot of crap I never should have eaten and started grazing again. I s…

So far I have only told him and my parents (who are very supportive) I just don't feel like I want to tell anyone else yet. So, as we (my boyfriend and I) were talking about I said okay, just don't say anything to anyone because I'm not ready to really tell anyone yet and he got a funny look on his face. I said "what??"
