Started at 5'0" 205 now 145. Would like to lose 10-15 more but heyyyy I'm happy and I feel alot better! If I do good ...if I don't o well. Plus I'm KEEPING it off! Never could do that on my own! If I was diligent about exercise and what I eat I'm sure I get t off but I never wanted to feel like I was on a NEVER ENDING DIET I wanted to feel normal and I DO. mission accomplished! Here's a pic of my little black dress that my hubby bugged me for 3 days to go back to the mall and get after I tried it on and sent him this pic. Lol.

Hi all - I've been thinking about coming here and telling my story for some time. Today it's a cold, snowy day so I thought I'd get to the task. When I was pre-sleeve it seemed these boards were mainly populated by those who were pre-sleeve or weeks to months out. So with being over 2 years now, I thought I'd give you my story. It might help someone make a decision. First, I could have had my surgery a year sooner than I did. My insurance began paying for the sleeve 3 years ago but I dragged my feet out of fear. It wasn't one thing I was afraid of, but many little things. The surgery itself, the horror stories you hear of failed results but mostly the idea of gi…

Hi all I had my surgery yesterday. Had many weeks of emotional turmoil with lots of crying and nervousness. I got home this afternoon and been so weak and uneasy in the stomach. I feel so bloated and gassy. I've read it's normal but how long does this feeling last? I have 2 small kids and I just don't have the energy to smile and be happy around them. Feel so guilty. Is it normal to feel more gassy when I sip something? I hope everything's ok.

Hi, I am asked this question do much by my friends and family. Is there anyone on this forum that has had their sleeve very long? If not are you aware of any long term studies? I know this has not been done very long in the U.S. but what about in other parts of the world? I'm just curious on the long term effects and what is my life going to be like 10-20 years from now? Thanks!

Today is day two post op. I have no regrets. It has been a little painful, but everyone has informed me on my wonderful progress. Just keeping positive thoughts and looking for to that light at the end of the tunnel. The hardest thing for me has been the nausea and gas pains, but they provide meds for that. Wishing any future sleevers a good luck and speedy recovery. :-)

I have my report time in less than an hour. I can't believe I am really doing this. I'd appreciate any prayers or good vibes you can send my way. I am such a nervous wreck. Bla bla bla, I can't wait to be on the flip side. Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this place. There is a lot of great advice here and I appreciate it.

Don't get me wrong - I was sleeved on Oct 22 and am overall pleased with my weight loss... But sometimes, I wonder... I was on liquid Protein for five weeks straight... anyone who is on Liquid Protein for five weeks straight would lose weight. I am now on a semi-Adkins like diet...No more than 30 grams of carbs and at least 60-75 grams of protein daily.. I average about 750-800 calories per day. Anyone who ate 800 calories a day would lose weight. I am on the treadmill EVERY morning for 45 min... again - anyone doing this would lose weight. I guess when I *do* have the issues - and I am extremely lucky - I have had very little complications - I just wonder if I co…

Hello all! First let me say congrats to EVERYONE on this journey. Congrats to taking steps towards a better, healthier YOU!! I'm a 30yr old female. I've not been sleeved yet. I am waiting for approval at this time. I'm very excited, because I'm expecting to hear that I'm approved. I've been doing a lot of research. I had my heart set on the band for about a month, but then changed my mind once I really thought about all of the after-care, meaning fills/unfills. I also asked my surgeon how much fills cost without insurance (in the event that I should not have it one day in the future), and the amount made me shift towards the sleeve. I made the final decision to go with th…

I am pretty new to all of this, but I have never been more sure of a decision in my entire life. Many people at my job have had either the sleeve or bypass, and are happy with their decision. This is my story: I am pre-op--haven't even been to the doctor yet. My seminar date is 2/21, and I CAN'T WAIT!! I am female, 45 years old, 5ft 6in., 236lbs., BMI of 38.1. I would have this surgery tomorrow if I could! I am sooo ready to get this weight off me. I was not always heavy. In my teens, I was in the 120s. In my early 20s, I was around 130-150lbs. My weight has always fluctuated. By the time I was 30, I was 170-180lbs and getting very uncomfortable with my weight…

This morning after months of trying to get approval, my sister had her surgery. Now we are not only family, we are sleeve sisters. I am so proud of her. As I watch her peacefully sleeping in this hospital room I am reminded of all the pain I went through on my surgery day back in December... Sleep now big sister, for the struggle that comes when you wake is only the beginning of your new life and like a butterfly from it's cocoon I know you'll show everyone the vibrance and beauty within you. I love you.

My name is Carlos, my wife and I were going to have by-pass last year and due to me enrollment into the police academy I decided not to have surgery because of down time. My wife had bypass and at first she regretted every moment of it, now she is doing a lot better but she has her good days and bad days. I am now out of the academy and I have been having a hard time still doing the physical tests for trying to get a job. I am not a extremely lare guy but I am overweight. I am 6'1" and weigh 280. I have been going to the gym for months now and I still can't cut weight(I know muscle weighs more, but I know that isn't the case). I am planning on getting the sleeve done t…

I'm new to the forum and to WLS in general. I've attended a few free seminars and I have my first consult with a surgeon on Thursday. While I'm 98% positive I'm going to go forward with the sleeve surgery (pending approval) I'm still researching and trying to learn as much as I can about it in general. I'm noticing that quite a few people are getting the surgery done in Mexico. I'm wondering why? Is there an advantage with going out of the country (USA) for the surgery?

My family has been sick the last few weeks, I have been taking zinc and airborne and extra vitamin c. I have been able to keep well, but my husband lost his job Wednesday and I have been under extra stress. I woke up this morning with a stuffy nose, cough and terrible headache. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday and may have to be rescheduled if I cannot get better. Please pray for me and my family. We trust in God and His timing, it is just hard to think of going on and ha going to wait and do all my tests again. Also, my husband is doing well with the job loss, but prayers for direction on his next path would be appreciated. Thanks to all who are willing to pray K…

Hey yall I'm Deana 27 (28 Nov 13th) from East Texas and I got approved on Halloween!! Surgery date is November 26 2012 and I can't wait! Here's a little about me. I was lucky enough to marry my first crush we didn't see each other for 10 years but found our way back to each other and have been together for almost 8 years now. It's weird because he is a very good looking man and fit so it will be nice to match him (if that makes sense lol) We have two kids together Kenneth Jr and Sofia Marie and I also have two amazing step kids Jordyn and Sammy who we are in the process of trying to get custody of. Can't wait to start this new chapter of my life to be able to run after my…

I'm 23. I went last week to meet with the surgeon and he told me thus was a great step for me and my future. I scheduled all my appointments for the next three weeks and he said surgery could be done early spring. I'm really only nervous for my psych evaluation tonight. I've never been one to talk about being overweight and I hate being judged????

Hi All, I'm a newbie... I actually joined months ago but today is the first time I have had a good look around... Here's a little "about me"... I suffer from severe PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and Insulin Resistance. I gained 42kg (92lb) before they knew what was happening. Due to late diagnosis I am now also Type 2 diabetic. When I had an appt with my Endocrinologist she suggested a band and i nearly died. I had not ovulated in 5yrs and she thought this would help. After trying diets and failing many times like everyone else I didnt know what to do. The day my husband said he was scared he would lose me to a weight related illness that was enough to push me o…

Hi! I'm Deborah...I have been lurking in the forums for a bit now and finally took the pludge and scheduled my first consult appointment with Dr Lusco for January 31st! I kept putting it off until I found that my insurance-United HealthCare via UPS covers lapband surgery and they only require the usual BMI and 5 year history of weight issues...YAY!!! Thanks to everyone for great information I have received so far...I hope i don't wear out my welcome by asking too many questions! LOL

Ok here I go again, back in the hospital. My D.O.S Gastric bypass was on jan 9, 2013, I returned a second time, the following week after surgery due to a blood clot and liquid collecting in my abdomen. Now the 31st I had to come back to the ER because the entire week everything I consumed I had been throwing up. I have been here at this hospital every week of this month to be admitted. I am on the puree stage so certain things agree with me and other things do not. (At first I thought I was dumping, but I realized things weren't agreeing with my new pouch) Yogurts, puddings , Water and crystal light were the only things that agreed with me and sf Popsicles. I tri…

Sleeved on Monday (three days now) -- I haven't had a single problem drinking water or juice or eating jello, popsicles, etc. Is that weird? I read about so many people not even able to take sips or get their fluids in. Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful that this has been this easy and virtually pain free, I'm just wondering when I'm going to feel any restriction.

Hello to everyone!!! I am so glad to find a forum/blog to be able to talk about this!!! In the beginning of 2012 I had a big birthday coming up that was affecting me emotionally. I was turning 47, I was in a marriage that was very toxic (Spouse that was an alcoholic, and not working), and i was coming to the point to where I was aware of my own mortality. Let me explain... My father passed away at the age of 57, and he well over 450 lbs. Here I was, turning 47, just 10 years younger, and I did not want to die. On top of that, I had an issue with my Husband and his drinking and lack of employment. In March 2012, I separated from my husband, and my son (who is 19) …
