I know we all go through ups and downs. I know I'm going through a healing process and I know I can't expect overnight success. I have always been very weight loss resistant and it is a little disheartening to think maybe that's how it will always be. Through my pre op diet and now I've only lost 7lbs. Yes better than gaining, yes better than nothing, but still a little frustrating. Sometimes I feel like we aren't supposed to whine on here lol. So my apologies in advance. To me sometimes a forum is to talk about when you are feeling discouraged. Today I feel discouraged and I feel like I should be able to discuss here.

Does anyone else get pain on their left shoulder when they eat? It gets really painful.. But it then goes away!

  3. Omg .,i am having a tough time right now with food. I am craving salty foods..like a good tamale. At night I have dreams of food..and I think of the food during the day I cannot have. I know it is most head. I was a sugarholic before my surgery. Now all I want is a good salty meal. Also, the reality that I can eat only 2-3 ounces of food at a time is blowing my mind. Now, I knew this before going into surgery how life would be...but the reality is different than just hearing about it. Will these feelings go away.. Is this what u call the grieving process, HELP.. What is going on with me. I was not expecting this so soon after surgery (11 days post op) .

I was banded at about 7 this morning. I feel great. Was able to hold down my liquids, walked the halls, and went to the bathroom by myself. The only thing that is bothering me is this awful gas pain! It hurts in my stomach, shoulder, and side...can someone tell me what I can do to release/relieve the gas besides walking? The nurse told me to take gas x tomorrow after I'm released. Thanks,

Please don't hate me.... My best friend is looking into wls, and has been involved in the local bariatric clinic for the past year going to her classes etc. She encouraged me to look into wls as well, knowing that I would have to join the clinic and I would be far down the road behind her... Well, I work in the operating room so I asked a surgeon one day if he would accept me as a pt for wls and he said sure he would watch for my referral. Well, surg date was booked within 2 mos of our conversation. Yup, jumped the line. But in my defense I work very hard for my surgeons and they appreciate this fact, and I feel this perk had been a gift from my surgeon for my dedica…

My best friend had gastric bipass a few years ago and she can not have popcorn or rice ever again she was told! I love popcorn!! Especially when going to the movies. I can't imagine having to give that up all together! Thanks everyone! I'm just starting the process but trying to get as much info as I can!

Well, this is a first. I have never been on a forum before and have finally taken a step to weight loss. Both are scary. I just turned 60 and need to keep up with the grand daughter. I am really tired of being FAT so the journey begins. Today was the first visit to the Dr. now on to all the approvals and pre op rituals, it's a wait and see game now. All I can do is follow what has been asked of me and hope for the best.

I am singing praises this morning cos I have never been so happy to lose a mere 4 pounds in my entire 38 yrs of being alive. For two months plus, the scale was stuck at 242 and today, I reluctantly hopped on it expecting to see same numbers but was amazed when it read 238. I screamed so loud that I woke up my two babies sleeping. So happy. Best Christmas gift.

Surgeon: Dr. Patricia Choban Columbus, OH I can safely say I am a "Lap band Success Story" now. However, I had a very slow start. My wise surgeon told me the band was a "tool" and not a cure-all and that I would still have to diet. She was right, but I had a lot of other contributing factors which made me fat and kept me fat. Here is my story: I was always slim (size 8/10 135 lbs at 5' 7") until my second of 3 sons was born, 27 years ago, and I lost my father. 4 years later I had my 3rd son and lost my Mother. I went into a deep depression for which my family doctor put me on Zoloft. A year later I was up 150 lbs! Now I really WAS depressed!. I was also diagnosed wi…

Research so much that I thought I knew everything however that was not true LOL. I am now back to the insurance process in the USA and almost done witht he approval process. This has been very stressful "HURRAY UP AND WIAT" LOL I have my date set for 12/31/13 what a way to bring in the new year. I am really scard that I am going to fail this process and be fat for the rest of my life. Everyone say that I will do fine but I just am worried... Does anyone else have this same fear?

Hello all, As some have seen me posting on here from time to time, on 12/10 I went in for removal of the lap band and conversion to gastric bypass. I was released yesterday (12/15) from the hospital. I was there for 5 days. My surgery was not your traditional 2 days stay after. All went well the day of surgery, the day after (12/11) my drains were releasing 4x the average discharge at an alarming rate. Well that day I had emergency surgery to explore where I was bleeding from. Came to find out afterward I was bleeding from a ruptured vessel where my port was located. An ICU trip, 3 pints of blood later, and 3 extra days in the hospital. Here I am reporting my journey…

Such a relief than about two hours later I felt a lil hungry do I think still figuring my new stomach out . Well I had about a tablespoon of chicken Alfredo an that was all I could take it seemed to set well too! I'm thinking I should have made a better choice though , because of the pasta. I have My EGD tomorrow and my last Appt with the Nut next Thursday. After that we will submit paper work to the insurance for approval. I am nervous about the EGD but sure it won’t be that big of a problem. The closer I get to the final step the more I wonder if this is the right thing to do. I am sure everyone felt this way at least once right? I am also a little worried because the required diet I have not done well on my weight has been yo-yoing like it always does. I plan on doing a 3 day Protein shake diet starting Sunday to try and lose a few extra pounds. Just think I am getting nervous about the whole thing.

Did anyone else felt or feels the same?

I was wondering how many people are using the nutribullet blender to help with their baritatric diet? If so let me know basically what you are blending because there are certain food restrictions like no nuts or membranes of fruit. So I was wondering if I can use the blender to liquify the skins and the membranes of fruit and basically drink my nutrition this way also.

Hey to those who know me and those who don't, it's been a long road and a wonderful chapter in my life to have my sleeve. I'm so greatfull! Never is this easy, especially for a certified chef who loves everything about food. I was sleeved by the famous G. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, MX and I loved every second of it! Couldn't be happier with my choice. I'm down 93 pounds and currently a size 4/6. I'm engaged now and hoping to plan my wedding soon. Here's a few pictures. Hope this helps anyone in doubt.

I have been struggling with up and down weight ever since I had kids, my youngest is now 19. The process for me to be approved for surgery with my insurance company was a bit of a struggle. The first time through I was denied for lack of documentation although they didn't let me know prior just what they wanted. I started the six month process over again and was approved just after Thanksgiving. I was ready and opted for surgery now rather that wait until after the holidays. I am a week and a half into the clear liquid stage and for the most part, I am never hungry! …

I had surgery on 10/16/2013 the first few weeks went great. I recovered quickly and was back to work after two weeks. Around week 5 I started getting severely naseaus eating or drinking anything made it much worse. I was still on a full liquid stage. I was given some anti nausea medication but it didn't help. I became severely dehydrated and had to get IV fluids several times before my surgeon admitted me to the hospital. I had my gallbladder removed and I thought that would help with the naseau but it got worse. It got to where I was vomiting every 30 mins and could not keep anything down. I was hospitalized again and had a picc line placed and received TPN and lipids. I…

My nurse always has a problem finding my port, after a lot of prodding she found it but when she took the needle out it came away from the syringe,, the 0.25 leaked out, it seemed like a lot more but after a fluid check the amount in my band was correct. When I went home, I discovered I could drink and eat almost normal speed, I find this really odd as I had quite a bit of restriction before. And couldn't eat half as much as I can now, I'm now really worried that something is wrong and the…
