I was told non for at least 6months after surgrey.

I think I was fine about 2 months after surgery. I had a drink at home a couple of days before my first outing to make sure I could tolerate it and I was fine. No beer, you will feel like crap. No sugary mixers - same problem, margarita's are out for me!. Wine gave me heartburn for a while, but if I stick to vodka & diet coke or another sugar free mixer I'm fine.

Five months out, and I just had a drink (well, a few sips of it anyway)........I had a lemon drop martini, and was asked if I wanted the sugar in the drink or on the rim.......I told him to leave it out, and it wasn't too bad.......I only had a few sips.......was never a big drinker anyway.......

You are able to drink diet coke 2 months out? Did you use a straw?

Hi Kay, As far as Diet coke I still don't drink carbonation drinks. I sipped it once and it gave me an amount of Gas that I won't forget. But I've read people here that can tolerate carbonation. Being real about Alcohol. Talk to your doctor. I do have an occasional drink of alcohol but I can't tolerate sugary drinks of any I tried it my self at the same time. That said enjoy your Holiday.

Went to a Christmas party people can guzzle down there drinks while one drink hit me faster. Just me. So sip slow

My dr said a month. I waited about 8 weeks. I try and stay away from carbonated and sadly...my tolerance is the same as before.
