I'm in week 6 and finally able to start trying out the foods I like to see if they sit well in my sleeve and am finding myself disappointed. Everything tastes different. I used to find joy in eating some foods because to me they were wonderful and delicious but now it seems everything is too sweet or too strong or too blah!! Does this end? Will it ever taste the same again?

Ok so I'm now 13 weeks post op & was doing well. Except the past 2 weeks I've done nothing but throw up every time I've eaten & I keep feeling sick on & off as well. The smell of certain foods makes me want to vomit too. I know it's not a bug but really am getting concerned & want to know what the hells going on? :'(

HI everyone! I am scheduled for my gastric bypass on January 3rd. Today starts my liquid pre-op diet. I am soooooo excited for my up coming surgery! I can't wait to get my life back. 2014 is going to be a great year! Honestly, I'm more afraid of having to get the filter in my leg than the actual surgery.

Woohoo! My husband was dead set against me having weight loss surgery. During the months prior to surgery my husband was mad, angry, mean and even threatened me with divorce if I went through with it. Today he is my biggest advocate. He comments all the time about what a great job I am doing. I am 4 months out and down a total of 85 lbs of which 46lbs is post-op. I am hoping to hit onederland for New Years (4 more pounds to go). Saturday morning I was on my local Harley-Davidson web-sight looking for a new leather coat for this spring because my 3W coat is now way too big. While I was there I happened to browse the bikes they had in stock. I mentioned to my hu…

Hi, this is my first time to post on bariatric pal. I have just made the decision to have the gastric sleeve. I have so many questions but the 1st would be for any of you who have been approved how long did your process take? Was there a wait period for any long length of time? I've read where some people had to wait 6 months or longer. I know waiting is the hardest part but I am so determined to have this surgery that I just want it as soon as possible. Any info would be so greatly appreciated! Thank y'all

My journey began officially 10/24/13 when I called to make the surgeon appt. I saw the psychologist in 10/28, my family dr 10/31 and the surgeon 10/31. I had nut appt the following Thursday. Got my approval mid Nov and they worked me in on Dec 18. I lost 16lbs on the pre op diet (and gained 2 back from "food funerals"). Surgery went well except my oxygen levels wouldn't stay up, even when awake, so I came home on 02. Had some issues with nausea but always do after surgery, so nothing new. So here I am five days out and down a total of twenty lbs since pre op. Yes my head wants food but my new tummy tells me otherwise. I can't handle ice water (but love ice chips?) And…

Hi everyone! I don't have a surgery date yet. I am in the very beginning of this journey. I'm very concerned because I'm always so hungry now! How am I gonna get through the liquid phase? I know this probably seems like a small thing to worry about, but I am worried.

Well, I have been on this site since my PCP referred me to the Bariatric Clinic at Loyola University in August. My day has FINALLY come. I have to be at surgery intake at 5:30 in the morning 12/23/2013. I am the first surgery of the day. Doctor said I will probably be discharged on Tuesday evening or Christmas morning. My insurance - BCBS Federal generously pre-approved up to five days! Hopefully, I won't need them. So far on the pre-op diet and 7 days of liquid diet, I have lost 27 pounds. I can't wait for this time next year to see how different my health and life will be. Happy holidays to all of you......see you on the other side. So, cover me...I'm going in.

This is a big relief for me cause now I can go out to eat with others and eat child portions of healthy food now. I can only have up to 4 ounces of food of course 3 ounces Protein and 1 ounce veggies low starch of course. I am so happy. And also I can exercise now at the gym. What a relief.

Hi everyone I just had the lab band put in yesterday! I'm doing great and I am pretty confused on the liquids and getting 80grams of Protein in today and tomorrow. I have a clear Protein Drink and I was told to only have 8 ounces at a time. Any suggestions of how to get the proper amount of protein in these two days? Does anyone know how much Soup and Jello I can have at a time? I'm thinking I can mix some protein in with those... Thanks for your support

Was first banded in 2011 weighing in at 302lbs. I lost over 180lbs the first year but my band kept slipping which ultimately put me in the hospital for 6 weeks because I had lost an additional 40lbs and was passing out every time I stood up. After my weight returned to 290 my Sergeon suggested I get the sleeve. I did in May of 2012 and has only gotten down to 238. I exercise 3-4 days a week for at least 2hrs(I don't feel like I did anything if I'm not there that long) I started doing cardio and weights and it goes up and down never going higher than 240 but no lower than 237. As far as my eating I have been counting calories and cut out sugar and sweets(oh it was hard) bu…
