I had my surgery Monday Jn. 6th - I came home today and I'm surprised how good I feel. Just wanted to share because I know I had some fear and if this reassures anyone that's a good thing! Now the fun. Engines as I figure my food plan out.

  2. My journey was ruff in allot of spots. I began with a sleeve and ended up having to get a gastric bypass due to complications. After which I had to have 3 more surgeries due to needing my gallbladder removed and reparation of a hernia. I had some low points and then some really low points but now I'm definitely riding my high points. I've wanted to give up, I cried, regretted my decision but then things began to get easier. I started healing and was able to really stay working out. Things were slow at first but I'm pleased with my progress. Hopefully by documenting my results I'll be able to help someone else that's on their way to a low point. Remember you do this for n…

  3. I had my surgery on 12/04/2013 and doing really well so I thought. But now my mind is starting to play tricks on me. You fill as though you can eat more than you really can and boom it hits you quickly. You are so full that even one bite more will cause that uncomfortable filling that doesn't go away for some time. Does anyone else that this issue if so what did you do?

Hi there so I'm finally ready to reach out for help. My 24 year old son was killed by a drunk driver on April 29th 2012, and only 11 months before losing my son I lost my father. I had wls (band) in 2009. Needless to say my weight loss journey fell way off the wagon. I have since gained most of my weight back and I have no idea how to start over again. When I went to the doctors they had made a suggestion that maybe I might want to have a revision... no I don't want any more surgery I want to try to work with my band but I need much more support than what I'm getting from them! I am very scared that I stretched out my pouch but the odd thing is is that I still do feel res…

Hello, I am back. I was unable to log into the forums for 8 mos. I lost my password and everytime I tried contacting someome at the old Sleeve talk address I got no where so I decided to persevere until I got in. I had my surgery January 30 2013 and I have lost a total of 92 pounds. To say I have been successful is an understatement. I started out on surgery day at 247. I am about 5 or 10 pounds from my goal and I lose when I am no longer trying. I am wearing a size 8 jeans and shopping at the Juniors section of stores. It has been relatively easy for the most part. In the beginning I was like, WHAT DID I DO?? But it gets easier. I am pretty happy for the most par…

Hello Everyone! I am new to this site and will be having the VSG on January 20th! I am getting nervous and am scared. I am frightened of the physical pain and I am nervous to begin my new life. I am hoping this site will become a positive outlet for me where I can connect with others who have had a similar struggle to my own. I am looking forward to sharing my story and hearing all of yours!

  11. Given everything my surgeon said (as I was at 240lbs and 5'4",) I figured I might drop 20 or 30 lbs in my first year at most, but even that would be very good for me. My size was causing serious health problems. To my surprise, it did not happen that way. Instead, the pounds just started flying off like in the infomercials that air late at night/early morning. I ate (and still eat) whenever I'm hungry and enjoy every bite until I feel full and satisfied. Prior to VSG, no other diet plan did this. Everything else I'd tried before helped in the short-term, but eventually I'd get so "hungry" that I would have an emotional break-down of sorts, and start eating again. …

  12. So for several years I have been following several youtube blogs from people who have had weight loss surgery. Watching these videos has really helped me feel like I have support and answered a lot of my questions. I am FINALLY having surgery on January 21st 2014 and I started a video blog on Youtube. I would love to share my blog with you and see if any of you out there are doing the same. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD0wfUY_7AJNlewlpa4SjNQ

I was banded in March 2013, and procrastinator that I am, have finally mustered the courage to join this site to seek the wisdom, honesty, camaraderie, and hope that I need to turn what I fear is a colossal failure into a journey of personal success, or at least get closer to that success than I am right now. I have approached my "post-op" life inadequately to say the least, and am hoping that it is not too late for me to turn things around and do it the right way. I realize, especially after reading the numerous stories noted here, I cannot be a passive bystander in this journey; I must take control and responsibility and stop thinking of my band as a quick fix that req…

Has anyone else had a long ride once released from hospital. I will have around a 5 hour ride. I'll post pics day before surgery. I'm keeping a personal journal. So hopefully I can keep you guys updated, along with that. Anyone else getting sleeved that day?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself to this forum. I just got back from my Seminar, and had a private consultation with UC Davis Bariatrics center. And as I have known all along I qualify for WLS, with the Co-morbidies I've struggled with for years. HBP I'm on 3 medications, I have sleep apnea and GERD. Like all of us I've attempted diet and exercise with moderate success, even spent a year on phentermine (speed as they should call it) felt like a tweaker.. Anyways weight came back more and more. So I agree with the Staff, I'm ready for a permanent change in my ways of eating, and I'm ready to make the sacrifices needed in exchange for a longer time stay on th…

I can't believe that I actually got my date! January 13th will be the day I start my new life! I met with my new surgeon on Thursday and I actually didn't think I was going to get a date that day. I thought that he was going to make me jump through more hoops. But he was great! I actually like him better than the first one. He made me feel like I was somebody. Most doctors when you meet them you are very intimidated by them. Especially when all your life all the doctors say to you is you need to loose weight. He actually told me that he WANTED to do surgery on me. He said that he knows I will be a success story since I have already done everything I was asked to do. He ha…

Hi everyone! I have been working out more and more - cardio as approved by my doctor. Yesterday I was super exhausted from it and was hungry. It was a different kind of hunger, not the I want crap food and want to eat everything, but just I am drained and need something. I have been consistently around 700 calories per day and have the intention of getting it up to 1200 over the next few months per my nutritionists suggestion. Yesterday I ended up having two dinners separated by a couple of hours because of my hunger. I ended the day at 850 calories with 66 grams of carb, which is significantly more than usual. I feel like I should be ok with this, but I…

I just cannot believe the miracle that this surgery has been. I truly feel blessed because I have not had a single problem, have lost 60 lbs in 3 months & i have finally found the confidence to leave a terrible man & start living my life. I feel like a new person! Pre-op weight & date: 323/Oct. 15 20013. Today: 261! I hope that life continues to be wonderful!

  27. Well, this is a new chapter in my life. I am 64 and have been trying to lose weight since I was 13 when my mother took me to a diet doctor. I have been on every diet and medication and have lost and gained at least 1000 pounds. My body type is the same as all the women on my mothers side, I'm just bigger. I have been working toward the surgery since July, jumped through all the hoops and waiting now for the date. Pre-surgery protein shakes getting boring, I'm so glad I found this forum.

Hi, I was given my surgery date the other day and it seems like things are moving very fast and I'm starting to get nervous. I am 205lbs 5'3 and have a BMI of 36. I have moderate sleep apnea. At my heaviest I was 216 and with diet and exercise I lost almost 65lbs. I maintained a 50lb loss for almost 2yrs but in June I was involved in a serious car accident and have since gained about 50lbs. My concern is that I am taking drastic measures. I am afraid of dying and complications. I am afraid of never being able to enjoy eating again and I'm afraid that I won't be able to eat fruits and vegetables again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I got my band on nov 5th and I'm just starting to get used to it now. My biggest problem is that I am in the habit of eating fast (my husband says I eat like a snake!!), and consequently don't chew my food enough. I'm having to learn to adapt to small mouthfuls that are well chewed! I've been sick quite a lot, as the big mouthfuls are painful and so I have to get them out. I'm concerned that being sick a lot may cause slippage of my band. I guess my timing was bad as I was just beginning to eat normally post op as Christmas came around, so despite the smaller portions, it was the usual Christmas food!! Does anyone have any tips on how they adapted to the change in ea…

I had enough and decided it's time to do something. I had talked to my Dr about it many times and he would say yeah yeah its a great idea but I had never pushed him. That December I made an appointment to specifically discuss getting the lapband and I am really glad that I did.
