I was banded on jan 7th. I'm still recouping, but not as sore as yesterday. I did Clear Liquids the 1st two days. Today I started heavier drinks such as Protein Drink, milk, creamy Soups. I'll stick with that the 1st two weeks. Anyone else in the same stage as me?

Doing great keep up the good work! Hope your recovery is smooth. I'm sure you will find lots of people at or close to the same stages as you are.

Even those of us banded for a while take it back to basics when we get a fill, but these first few weeks of being banded can be a challenge, stick with it cause it's worth it!!

I was rebanded on the 6th and have GAINED six pounds? Haven't had an ounce of food in 4 days. So depressed! Dr. office says its from swelling because I had a lot of scar tissue removal done at the same time from my original 2006 band slipping. I remember losing 11 pounds in the first wek with my old band, not gaining 6! Im sorer and slower to bounce back this time around as well. Trying to keep positive but wished I had never stepped on the scale this morning; (

Welcome to Bandland! The first few days really kicked my *ss. All I wanted to do was sleep, slurp my broth, Soup, coffee, tea, Protein shakes and so forth and do my walking and go back to sleep! LOL I just listened to my body, gave it what it wanted and the fourth day, I started to feel human, again. By the end of the first week, I was actually feeling pretty good. :D

My post op diet was a little different from your's. I was on clear liquids for the first 48, full liquids for days three through seven then I was on mushies days eight through thirty. I thought that I was going to be on mushies forever! LOL I was then cleared for solids with the few obvious caveats. :)

The post op diet is a meh fest. I did not enjoy it much. But it is crucial to healing and, tho that month feels as if it is going to last forever, it really doesn't. Hang in there. You'll be chomping on the good stuff, before you know it. :D

Congratulations Kelm, I was banded on the 4th so only a few days ahead of you. Can totally sympathise with everything you're feeling right now. Started on the dairy Tuesday but not had a good reaction to it. It's made me bloat and hurt my stomach so cutting that out. Looking forward to mushies and having some foooood. Been on nothing but broth juice and Water this week!

Wishing you a speedy recovery DP x

Give your surgeon a call and ask if it is okay to take Lactaid. I had trouble with dairy early after my surgery (I won't go into too much detail but the words *ss and hose could be used), and my surgeon let me try Lactaid and it helped. I used the max strength, fast acting kind. I took it until my gut finally regulated and I got more regular. I don't really need it, any longer but it got me through the rough patch and it may help you. :)

Ah icyone thank you for that. I will definitely ask tomorrow when I see him. I had no dairy at all yesterday and felt a million times better from it. Its been pretty unpleasant as reactions go, am usually fine with dairy but I guess its all back to square one now!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
