My friend and I both had the sleeve on April 10th, I'm a non smoker and she's a smoker. She's not a heavy smoker but still a smoker, she did not quit smoking but cut back to 4 cigarettes a day and smoked until the night before surgery. Now she wants to go back to smoking and she's only a week out. I keep encouraging her not too but I'm afraid she might give in to her temptation. I don't know much about smoking and surgery, can someone tell me what can happen to her if she goes back to smoking only a week out?

Hey all going on my 4th week (Surgery was 03/27). In the beginning I had no urge to poop so starting April 7th was taking benafiber and miralax here and there. Since I started puree I had the urge more, but last night I ended up bleeding rectally. Not a ton but some. Today it got stuck, took a glycerine suppository and little more blood. I am very scared and don't know what to do. It is making me push a lot and so afraid of hemroids. Suggestions please.

Well, I've really been taking advantage of this wonderful support system. I've asked so many questions and gotten so much help and relieving answers. Thank you. So now, my next one. I was sleeved last Thursday. In June, literally 2 months from now, is my wedding. What are you all eating 2 months post op? Liquor? Are you able to eat more than 3 bites of something? Thanks in advance. Appreciate you all

I have a question..... I'm 9 weeks out today from VSG. I have lost almost 50 pounds and I'm feeling more energetic every day. Has anyone had to deal with a partner that is still overweight and now you're on different levels of energy and sex drive??? I thought even if it was just me feeling better that it would get easier. It seems harder now. Feeling discouraged....

Hey all, I had my sleeve done on Jan 5th and going through a stall now as I introduce solids back into my diet. My starting bmi was 34. I am reaching out to sleeved friends for support and essentially being told "what did I expect?" Deep down i know the stall is temporary but another part of me is wondering is it true. That I won't lose weight or re gain lol of it back because the surgery was not meant for me? I'm asking for or some advice please

Hello, just gathering info and if this has already been a topic I apllogize for redundancy. After surgery what happens when you get the stomach flu - since getting dehydrated would happen faster I imagine? Has anyone any advice?

Im not sure if I understood the nutritionist correctly on my in hospital meeting with her on thursday 4/13. I believe she said to start eating cream soups ( strained) sf yogurt, puddings etc. On Saturday 4/15. Does that sound right to you. Of course I do realise that are many variations between doctors.

I have sciatica so bad I've lost the feeling in my right calf and most of my right foot. Then of course I have the sharp lightening plain that shoots from my buttocks to my right ankle. I was sleeved 4/12 and have had no relief from the sciatica. It makes new wanna scream and the plain is very depressing along with the sleeve norms. My question is, does/ did anyone have the same problem, did it get better on its own with weight loss or so I need to seek out physical therapy? Anything that could help, I'm open ears. Thanks in advanced.

2 weeks and 6 pounds less- post surgery, I'm eating solids, but still sticking with premier protein for breakfast and lunch most work days, consuming 1x Centrum multivitamin daily... I seem to have an adverse effect, severe dermatitis... Small bumpy welts where my bandages were and now spreading to all softer skin, including around my lower stomach, chest and arms. Anyone else have this issue? I'm reaching out to my surgeon, as I'm concerned if I have an autoimmune issue. I've never been allergic to anything. Sent from my Nexus 10 using the BariatricPal App

Tried a Protein Shake today two days ahead of schedule. My nurse said depending on how we felt to give it a shot and I drank the whole think and felt great after.I went to the gym and stretched and walked for 10 min on the treadmill then went grocery shopping with the wife.Inhave a gnawing hungry feeling like I'm ready to try some creamy Soup or yogurt but I don't want to push it.I got a little tired after about 3/4 of the shopping so I'm sitting down writing you guys.Ive spoken to a bunch of my boys that had this procedure and asked them if they are eating what they want and after 3-4 months you're on your own kinda just figuring your own limits. For me patience is the key…

September of 2016, I went thru lap band surgery. As of recent weeks, everything eaten is thrown up allowing me to think the band has slipped. If my theory is correct and surgery is needed, is it best to just remove it?

My band slipped and they removed my fill about three weeks ago. Sometimes when I eat I get extremely gassy by the band area and the port becomes sore. Sometimes I am fine. It is mostly when I eat dry meats and some vegetables. Does anyone else have this problem? Yesterday was tough the discomfort start ed at 8 last night it is 5am in the morning and I am still uncomfortable. It has never happened this long. I am afraid to eat. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Hi all. I'm three weeks out and wondering when I can swim. I forgot to ask my surgeon about it at my last appointment, and although I remember reading about it in my lit, I can't find it anywhere. Any thoughts? My pool heater has warmed the pool up enough to go in and I'm dying to jump in! Gotta love Florida!

I am 6 weeks post-op and have noticed that meat doesn't taste good anymore. I have tried chicken several ways (kung pao, teriyaki, grilled) and fish (even with lemon and tartar sauce) and they don't taste right. I don't even want to eat them but feel I need to in order to get enough Protein in for the day. I know there are other sources of protein. Other things still taste the same to me (yogurt, eggs, cheese, iced tea). What the heck is going on?

I have heard after you get your new tummy that you don't need much to feel a buzz. I am curious what ha been your limit? What did you drink? I'm 6 weeks Post op and would love a glass of wine. Don't judge me please, we're all adults lol I've been very good with holding down food and getting liquids in. I've never had any issues. Thank you!

I got a Roux and Y on April 12th and was discharged the 13th. That day at the hospital I was doing laps around others in the hall. I know some motivation was to get the gas out and to be released from the hospital. I'm off all pain meds, went to church today and the park with the family. I've walked 3 miles today. I've been persistent about getting my Water and Protein in since my doc has me on this diet until 2 weeks from the surgery. My wife has kind of freaked out thinking I'm doing so well trying to make me go to bed or lay down but I wanna get out and get moving so I can get this weight off. I've lost 14 lbs since the day of surgery and that has given me some super…

I was worried about what to eat while traveling through Indonesia, so I packed some Isopure protein in my luggage, and hoped for the best. Turned out ok considering. I ate grilled chicken, tiny bits of rice, eggs, veggies, no noodles, no spicy stuff. Twice I hid food in napkins and stuffed it in my purse so people wouldn't look at me funny. (What have I become?) The locals kept asking if I didn't like the food! I know maybe I should not care but I did. I don't regret the surgery but I realised how much I mourn food, and my ability to eat different kinds, especially while traveling. Feels like it took some of the fun away. Couldn't drink alcohol either. I don't have a …

Hello, Sleeved 4/13 - no major complications. Doctor said my liver was smooth and the opposite of fatty, no diabetes, no allergies that are known. The first evening after the surgery I noticed my face was a little flushed. The next day I went home to find a rash on one of my breasts in conjunction with the flushed face and chest. Today the rash seems to be on my stomach also. It's splotchy, slightly raised (enough to feel a difference when running your finger over it). Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm about 2 weeks out from surgery and am struggling to get enough calories, Protein, and liquids. The only thing that tastes good right now are sugar free popsicles. They are also the only things that don't get stuck in my throat. I've tried a lot of the Protein Shakes, premier, EAS, Muscle milk, etc. I can't even drink crystal light with out it getting stuck.

I am just one month post-op and today for the first time I ate too fast and maybe a little too much... I am so uncomfortable, really uncomfortable. Has this happened to anyone else? I was having a conversation while eating and I guess I wasn't paying attention. I guess I just have to ride it out... but it is a good lesson to be more mindful.

My nutritionist said I had to drink (well sip) water every 15 minutes after surgery [emoji50]... when I asked how long I will have to do this for?? I dont know if I heard her right, but I got the impression she meant forever! [emoji54] I'm fine with carrying around a water bottle all day, I usually do and think we all should! But, as a nursing student, there will be times I can't just have a water bottle with me.... I will figure it out either way even if I have to conceal a water bottle or something in my bra lol. I just imagine it will be really hard to get that 15 minute sip in.... Am I screwed?

So my surgery is May 2nd. I'm curious as to how people felt 10days out. I ask because I was supposed to go on a day trip to Boston with my husband on the 13th (planned before I got my date, and then forgotten, lol.) I'm sure there will be walking, though I can take it somewhat easy, and if push comes to shove, I can pick a place and hang there (I will probably find a way to the aquarium, lol). My husband and I RARELY get trips like this for the two of us without kids so I really don't want to cancel it. Today is the final day to cancel. My husband's guess is 3-4 miles of walking throughout the day. edited to add: I realize everyone is different, I'm just tryin…

I had my surgery on the 5th of April and 2 days later developed a "spasm" or Sharp pain in the center of my stomach right below my sternum. Thus pain is excruciating when it comes on, lasts for 5 to 10 seconds then goes away. Thus happens several times an hour. Has anyone experienced this? The nurse told me it is the esophagus adjusting to a higher pressure and that it gets better but it is getting worse. I am down 31 lbs since pre op diet but right now with this pain am wondering what the heck did I just do!

I can only take small sips of water and don't want to even drink that because of the amount of discomfort I am in. I can keep it down. I am burping a little which hurts and passing gas but it brings no relief
