My doctor joked about making me walk home from the hospital until we told him we live almost 40 miles away. Then, he dialed it back to walking the last block. He's a real comedian. Ive been walking probably a cumulative 30 min a day on better days but some days I'm so exhausted, I fall asleep for the night before my evening walk. So how much did you all manage to walk that first week? When did the surgical fatigue start to lift?

I am more than 6 months post-op and doing well. My weight, blood levels, etc., are all at the point that my surgeon hopes to see at a YEAR post-op; she and my Nut were both very impressed and supportive at my 6month visit. I am saying this just so people realize I AM following the program... mostly... It is school vacation week and I decided to treat myself; I went to the Chinese buffet for lunch. Nobody else in my family likes this kind of meal, so I usually take myself to lunch once or twice a year. I have been doing really well with portion control, so thought I was ready. I ate the filling from two crab rangoons, the meat from inside one dumpling, a small chicken…

Hello, all. I had my surgery about 6 weeks ago, on march 9th. I was losing weight fast, then all of a sudden I stopped losing. Is that to be expected or is that not normal?

I am 3 days post op and I am really struggling to eat. I am allowed to have stage 2 full liquid, like yogurt, pudding, Protein shakes and applesauce. I am lucky if I can get an ounce of food down. I dread having to eat. How long will this last? Will I ever want to eat? Drinking is super hard too. Help! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So, my wife has invited us over to our neighbors house for dinner tomorrow night. I'm 17 days out from surgery and still on a damn liquid diet. I don't want to be around food I can't eat for another 5 weeks. How do I tell her that? This is making me regret having the surgery. All I want to be able to eat food. I'm so tired of drinking my calories

I'm 2 and a half almost 3 weeks post op and I feel like I can eat all the eggs chicken ect no problem. Of course I focus on chewing it a lot so it's all mushed up but I've never had a problem with my liquids or my food. If I fee totally fine, that means everything is okay right?

Can liquids stretch a sleeve? I am in my 2nd week post op and still on full liquids. I can drink 8oz of liquids in a 20-30 min timeframe. I just worry that I'm going to stretch it before I start! HW 420 SW 347 CW 334 Sleeved April 10, 2017

I've never really liked a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Fruits are a little better, but when it comes to veggies, I'm basically at potatoes, corn and peas (all of which basically count as starches, not veggies), broccoli, green Beans, carrots, and onions sometimes. There's a whole lot out there that tastes terrible to me. But I know to keep this all going I'm going to have to eat a variety of veggies! I'm sort of scared to even post this because I'm afraid the answer is "just suck it up and eat them", but does anyone have any tips for a veggie snob to learn to love them?

I know it's completely normal and part of the process but stalls are so frustrating. I'm 16wks post op tomorrow and I have been gaining and losing the same pound for 11 days, I weigh myself every 3 days. Just needed to vent to people who understand. The last two weeks before the stall I lost 5 pounds a week so to see the scale halted I want to scream.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else hit a weight loss stall sooner than most. The scale hasn't moved since the end of my 2 weeks post op. Once I started purée I haven't lost a pound it has been 8 days so far. Tracking my intake and not doing anything I shouldn't. Trying not to get discouraged. Thanks

Hi everyone- I'm really just at a loss for what to do. I have been hanging around on these boards for the past 4 months since surgery but only posted a few times. I keep hoping to find someone else that is having the "I'm not losing enough weight" problem that I'm having. I started at 240 a year ago and went into surgery at 226 pounds on December 6, 2016. I'm 4 months post-op and have only lost 37 pounds. After month 1 I was down 19 pounds- and I was thrilled. However, after months 2, 3, and 4 I'm only down 12, 2, and now 4 pounds, respectively. I've only lost 6 pounds in 2 months! So basically when I started to eat real food (or more than an average of 600 calories a da…

Lately I've been starving for food but when I finally eat it, it's not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I can only get in a few bites and then my pouch can't take anymore but I'm still feeling hungry....such a weird feeling and head hunger is no joke. When they say you need to be mentally prepared for this lifestyle change, You have to be mentally prepared!!! Despite all of that, I still do not regret my decision and I want everyone to stay encouraged whether you are post op, pre op or considering wls.

Let me first say, I don't regret this. I got the sleeve for my health and wellbeing and I knew it was going to be hard. I just didn't realize the depth of my love for food. I'm 10 days post op, living on cottage cheese, re fried beans, protein drinks and water (along with some other puréed food). I had a relationship with food that is gone now. Tostino pizza rolls won't be there for my next Netflix binge. Chips and dips won't comfort me after a hard day at work. I can't sneak away to breakfast with my husband while the kids are still sleeping and I'm sad about it. I'm sad about losing food. And I'm tired. So very tired. And emotional. I get my walking in, I go to the g…

I know it doesn't make much sense to trade one vice for another, but I very rarely drink (once a month, and a couple beers at the most) and I don't smoke cigarettes. I do, however, enjoy smoking marijuana on occasion, and I don't know who or how to ask if this is alright post op. I'm five days out and I wouldn't even think of doing it while I'm still recovering, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this after recovery. I'd really appreciate any advice you guys have. Thanks a lot.

The irony that we are warned over and over not to drink our calories... And the first thing to happen involves us spending weeks where our only calories come from liquids. I take that back. Maybe there is method to this madness. I will be so happy to be able to eat something that doesnt fit through a straw. HW 420 SW 347 CW 334 Sleeved April 10, 2017

It seems that the only thing that settles in my tummy is Water. Everything else I get severe pain after swallowing, almost like a rush of heart burn. I throw up Jello, Protein drinks/shakes, and Soups. The only safe thing for me is water. I contacted my doctors office and they seemed like it was no big deal, to try and mix things together. Has anyone else experienced this? I am 1 week post op.

I had the Sleeve surgery on 11/23/16. As of now, I'm still on purée foods. On January 4, I will advance to a regular diet. Now, before I say this, I want to be clear that I am going to follow the doctor's food plan. All three doctors at the office have told me the same thing, so it must be a plan that works. With all that said, I am curious how many of your doctors' have told y'all not to count Protein or calories or worry about numbers? My doctors all said to focus on Beans, fruits, and veggies....or as they also said, Fiber FIBER FIBER (lol). I'm still allowed to eat meats, as long as long as beans, fruits, and veggies take up the majority of the meal/day. Also, I ca…

I think I have replaced my several unhealthy habits with another. I used to smoke, chug soda like no ones business, binge eat disgusting foods that were no good for me and never exercise. Hence, why I needed surgery... Now, post-op... I have another unhealthy habit... not particularly unhealthy to my body, but to my mind... Has anyone else experienced themselves being drawn to watching "Mukbangs" or eating shows? I stumbled across these videos when looking up "weight loss" channels... Alot of the channels I found were of morbidly obese people like I, so I subscribed thinking someone was in the middle of or beginning their journeys. Well, they kind of were.. But, the…

I was going to have to pay off my surgery a little at a time, but between taxes and an unexpected bonus windfall, my entire surgery was paid off before I even flew home. What a relief! Down 34 pounds, and a long way to go. But, now I have cheekbones! Teehee!

I keep reading that you are to walk often after you return home from surgery. Just wondering how much/long and how often you walked after you returned home? Did you walk around your block? Inside your home? On a treadmill? I can't imagine I will even want to get dressed and go outside the first few days, lol!

I'm out about a year and a 1/2 and the past 6 months or so I've been getting this horrible pain. It's in the center under my ribs. Seems to happen if I have dry food and probably eat it too fast. I had it so bad a week or so ago that i went to the ER as I was screaming. My surgeon seems to think it's an ulcer but the more I look into it the more I'm not sure that's what it is. I do find that when I have this pain if I take gas-x and go to the bathroom it tends to help the pain eventually go away (though the time I went to the ER none of it worked). Have any of you had this? I know for a fact I really have to do better with my food and how fast I eat sometimes.

I am a bout 9 weeks post op and I am having trouble pooping regularly. I mean I am only going maybe once every 4 or 5 days. It is very uncomfortable when I do finally go and I always have to use some intervention. Like milk of magnesia, or smooth move tea or an enema. How about every body else?

Well, my first real test of my big Italian family holiday get togethers was a fail. I'm 6 weeks post-op and I gave into my cravings yesterday and today and ate food I shouldn't of. Then I stupidly came home and weighted myself. I gained 2lbs in the past two day. I'm so mad at myself and have just sat here crying. My addiction to food is more powerful then I could of ever imagined.

Hi all. I'm three weeks out and wondering when I can expect some of my energy to come back. I feel totally wiped out and sluggish all the time. I'm getting in plenty of Protein, Water, and supplements, and I'm walking a lot, but I haven't been able to start lifting weights like I wanted to because I can barely summon the energy to lift anything. What gives? Is this normal?

I was just wondering if anyone else was sleeved on Jan 31 and how your progress was going? As of today we are 2 months out I am down 30 pounds since surgery and I lost 10 before surgery so now down a total of 40 from my highest weight. Has anyone had any likes, dislikes, or any types of food you absolutely can't handle? So far I have not had any foods that have made me sick. A few times I have over done it and are too much and that was painful so I am trying to remember to take small bites and chew chew chew. Hope everyone is doing well! I am anxious to hear your progress!
