Sharp Pain Under Ribs

I'm out about a year and a 1/2 and the past 6 months or so I've been getting this horrible pain. It's in the center under my ribs. Seems to happen if I have dry food and probably eat it too fast. I had it so bad a week or so ago that i went to the ER as I was screaming. My surgeon seems to think it's an ulcer but the more I look into it the more I'm not sure that's what it is. I do find that when I have this pain if I take gas-x and go to the bathroom it tends to help the pain eventually go away (though the time I went to the ER none of it worked). Have any of you had this? I know for a fact I really have to do better with my food and how fast I eat sometimes.

Gas x and bathroom relief sounds like extreme gas. I ended up in the ER with terrible excruciating pain on my side. They did all kinds of tests, etc. sent me home cause everything was negative. Lo and behold, gas moved a few hours later, quite painfully, and it expelled. Relief. So, if it's just coincidence with how you eat and the pain, it could just be gas. Really bad gas. Hope it's nothing more though. I pray you get total relief hon.

Thanks guys, I've also been really backed up for a while now, I think a lot has to do with the Tramadol I take which does that. I have to take stuff for it or I don't go for several days and often when this happens I haven't gone in days. The time I went to the ER I hadn't gone for days and i couldn't go then at all and normally if I go to the bathroom it helps relieve the pain.
