I’m currently taking anti nausea meds but its not working much for me. I’m sooooo sad and frustrated please tell me that this too will pass! BTW, my surgeon told me it will get better but I’m having my doubts.?

I’m considering having the sleeve done in Mexico with Dr. Hidalgo. I never imagined having surgery out of the country but my insurance will not cover the procedure. I was wondering if anyone who has traveled to Mexico for surgery would share their story with me and how they’re doing now after coming home.

I had RNY last May and I have recently began having a severe burning in my pouch and the intestines that it connects with. It's like stomach acid is boiling in there. Has anyone else experienced this??

I was doing my morning obsessive reading and came upon this interesting PubMed article that gives a nice, comprehensive list outlining the effects of macronutrient/micronutrient deficiencies on your skin. Linky to the article..."Skin changes after bariatric surgery" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4371663/ A screenshot of the chart for quick reference is below. I had the RNY on 1/18 and I’m getting in my water & protein but still feel sluggish, thirsty sometimes and constipated (not to mention my cycle showing up early) Please help me understand when it gets better because the depression is starting to set in.

I bought four bottles, but three of them are unopened and still have the tamper-proof shrink-wrap on them. This community has helped me a lot over the ~last year and I'd like to give back. I'll give these away if you don't mind helping me out a bit on the shipping. PM me if you're interested and we can figure out the shipping rate. These are what I'm referring to: https://www.unjury.com/opurity-calcium-citrate-plus-chewable.html For those that are interested, I went back to the celebrate carmel soft chews. Okay first of all for ppl who have had the full rueny bypass how long did it take before you could have solids without discomfort. After a few months did your appetite come back or did you have to live eating small portions for the long term just curious I'm hoping the portions stay small to help me long term. Anyone from Adelaide got any experiences dealing with Dr DONOFRIO??? In regards to vitamins are you just taking a general multivitamin or are other vitamins required??? Hello, I am currently going through the process to get gastric bypass surgery. I had an opportunity to do my psych appointment a month earlier because I put myself on the waiting list. I would have loved to but someone is on vacation and someone is leaving us for another job. So we are short staffed. It is all good though. I met with the nutritionist and shared the steps I am taking to get ready for the surgery and she is on board. I quit drinking soda 3 weeks ago. My surgery is with dr holman. What about you. Anyone from West Michigan

Hi there, I am scheduled for RNY surgery on March 5th, and I am starting to get worried about malnutrition. I am wondering if anyone has noticed that their teeth are splitting, decaying, or breaking off since surgery. I am particularly interested in people who have had the bypass for years.

I am just wondering if any of you have whole wheat tortillas in your plan? During the soft stage I am allowed to add crackers and whole wheat bread. Do you think mini whole wheat tortillas would fit in this category? Not a big enough deal to warrant a call to the NUT, just was a conversation I was having with my son about certain foods.

My journey to lose weight started when I was in my early 20s. I battled with my weight for some time. It’s been a long and hard journey for me. tried herbal life to assist me in losing weight initially but I regained weight all over again. I started weight management in 2016. Although I was dedicated to the program, I was surrounded by many distractions. This gave me second thoughts and I ended up leaving the program. After rejoining the program, I was fully focused for a while but at the last minute I was in a crisis situation which ultimately led me to leave New York. I was so upset because I came so far ahead and I was just waiting on my surgery date. I now reside in P…

I had my RNY on 1/7 and everything still tastes bad. I don’t know if this is normal. Some days I really have to FORCE myself to eat anything. liquid smells (dairy especially) and food scents all upset my stomach and I’m afraid that I’ll never want to eat again. Lost 40 lbs so far but idk if that’s okay with my eating habits. Anyone ever experience this?

I'm 3 months post-op and things are ok. I've hit a plateau with my weight loss (which I know happens) but now I'm wondering if I'm actually not eating enough, my plateau has lasted a month. I get 600-700 calories a day and over 90 grams of protein. How many calories did everyone get in at 3 months post-op? I have an appointment with my surgeon next month but until then I'm just curious. Thanks

I think I may be better at consuming only broth if it comes in a cute or handy drinkable vessel. Any one have a recommendation? There has to be a product out there....look at the water bottle industry and how it has boomed since Yeti and other companies have come along with cool water bottles. If you know of something, let me know! A drinkable soup might be a good idea for me too! Thanks!

Shopping in regular sizes! My Mom wanted to go shopping at Dressbarn. I wasn’t really looking for anything as I have a mountain of clothes to go through first. While she was in the plus size side of the store, I figured I’d wander over to the “regular” side of the store. Great sales this week so what the heck! I found a really pretty crocheted top with 3/4 sleeves on clearance in an XL. I figured I’d fit in it soon anyway so I bought it. When I got home I decided to try it on and see how far I had to go before It fit. Holy krap, it fit!! I started pulling the XL’s out of my closet and most of them fit. That was two days ago and I’m still smiling.

Hi, I have a VSG scheduled for December but I'm still in doubt if I should go for a bypass! I'm 297lb -and 6.0 tall - BMI 39 I was sure about getting a VSG but my endoscopy exam has the following: light esophagitis / Barrett's Esophagus - GERD . To be honest I don't feel anything related to it but I read a lot of articles and comments that VSG is not good for who has reflux. My doctor checked the exam and said would be ok proceed with VSG. I went to another doctor to get a second opinion, he saw my exame and right away said better get a bypass! Next week I will return to my doctor and talk again and might change to bypass. What you guys think? Anyone …

Did anyone develop gastroparesis post-op? If so, weave me your tale of symptoms and diagnosis. I am certain my ulcer has healed but I have been severely nauseous since 12/12. I dry-heave constantly. Sometimes it is about 1/2 hour to an hour after I eat... sometimes at random times. Mostly after I eat, and I am on full liquids (with occasional puree) so nothing insane is being digested. Sometimes even water does it to me. I am very careful about portions and eating slowly and properly. I read that the vagus nerve can be damaged post-op and gastroparesis can develop at any time. I am worried this is the case. I don't believe I have a stricture because no food ever comes bac…

I love to fish and commonly leave at 5 am and on the water for 12 hours so I’m starting to worry about hydration. I love to drink water and currently drink 2-3 24 oz waters per day. Hello! I'm new here and have been stalking the forum, but decided to post so I have a place to unload and not feel judged. I'm a very private person IRL. My husband is the only person who I've discussed WLS with in person besides the doctor/surgeon. So I began this journey on Jan 8th watching a webinar I signed up for with my surgeon. My first visit with the bariatric team was Jan 10th. My last several random Dr appts over the past year I have had high BP. I always chalked it up to being nervous. The high BP was confirmed at this appt and I'm now diagnosed with hypertension. I started on a med for that. My BMI is recorded at about 41%. Because I know I snore loud and…

Sleeved February 4, 2017 Bypass January 24, 2019 I had the revision due to acid reflux. I have a lot of discomfort in my upper back/shoulder area that I didn’t have after the sleeve. Yesterday I also had extreme constipation and think I may have pushed to hard (sorry TMI but I can’t find help online). Anyhow. I don’t have continual pain in my abdomen, just when I move and no leakage. It’s more the back pain/discomfort that is concerning me. Thinking about it it goes from mid back up to shoulders. I can only sleep lying on my back as I’m scared to lie on my side and end up getting up every 2 hours due to my back. So I guess my questions are: is this …

  39. Well not quite but it certainly feels like it. I'm finally home from hospital after spending 5 nights there rather than the planned 3 - 4. Went in for surgery last Thursday. Removal of band, repair of hiatus hernia and revision to RNY. The surgery took about 3 hours and was apparently pretty standard. Came round in recovery , felt ok and was taken back to my ward. Still felt ok. No real pain or nausea which is always a bonus. Had my glass of ice to suck when I suddenly started to feel really strange. Hit the call button and when the nurse came in told him (or her can't remember now) that I thought they may need the crash cart. By this stage my monitors had started g…

Just using this thread as a running list of my medical/dietary commentary and questions. lol. Called the doc to move up my appointment since I can't eat and he did an emergency endoscopy today. He said everything he can see looks fine. He said he made my pouch twice the normal size and bypassed more intestine than he normally does "in case" I ever need a revision so he has extra stomach to work with. That kind of annoys me. He said it puts me at a higher risk of ulcers, which I developed. I don't really understand why he doubled the size of my pouch. I still get stuffed off 3oz though. He is removing my gallbladder on the 22nd. Pre-op I had a lot of gallstones, polyps, a…

I've struggled with gout for the last 4 years or so, on an off, which was basically kept under control with dietary restrictions (avoiding beer, shellfish, etc.). Since the RNY my gout has been basically constant, like one long attack that never fully goes away. Most times the pain is in the 2-3 range out of 10, but in the last 2 weeks it has become unbearable. Pain, swelling, tingling, and redness in my ankle, foot, and toes. Tylenol is basically useless and the Colchicine is a no-no according to both my family physician and the surgeon's office. Started taking Allopurinol, but it takes months to have any noticeable effect and can actually worsen an attack in the near …

I have to admit I did not do the pre-operative diet but this was decided through a consult with my surgeon; upon release from hospital on Wednesday the 23rd of January, I weighed exactly 120.2kg. I've decided I will wait until Monday to weigh myself again but I'm excited to heal and get myself on this journey back to health. I’ve been getting awful pain in the right of my chest (like under my breast) and also over onto the shoulder blade. It feels like it gets worse after eating. It will be so uncomfortable, achey and even start tingling sensations. I’ve had a barium swallow test, which showed no issue, an ECG to check my heart and also a gallbladder scan. All tests came back normal. Does anybody else have any ideas for me? Thanks in advance, Kirsty

Well, although it feels unusual to celebrate being "overweight" but I'm positive y'all know how that is an improvement from Obese. 5'9" and yesterday weighed 202.0 on the scale for a BMI for 29.8. I'm shooting for the "1" by the end of the month. It will be awesome to say I weigh "One hundred xx" Weight loss has slowed quite a bit, but I was 303# this time last year, and didn't get the surgery until July of 2018, so it is shocking how fast the weight is falling off.
