January 16th I had the gastric bypass I was doing well I was able to eat n follow the diet plans then February 23rd my gallbladder was removed n I can’t really hold anything down since then everything I try to eat comes right back up! I have lost 50lbs so far my starting weight was 304 n now 254 but I really don’t feel like myself at all the lack of energy my body is just tired ? all I want to do is sleep period! I am not drinking enough fluids that I know for a fact n all I can drink is gingerale n water through out the day n still just sips here n there.

The colour, the variation, the size... ? is a sensitive topic but we all do it... So it’s been 2 weeks out of my surgery and finally getting to have more firmer poops. The problem is before they were very runny, and still are on the mushy side, but now they are more pale in colour almost to the point of yellowy clay like colour. I have an appointment to see the dr covering for my dr and she is quite new out of college. I don’t think that she takes what I say quite seriously. For example 2 weeks ago I told her that the nurse at the hospital said my heart was a bit tacky aka tachycardia. It continued on when I got home, and every once in a while it flutters. …

Has or does anyone have WV Medicaid and WV Health Plan? Have you had any issues getting approval? I was just referred to the bariatric dr so I haven't seen him yet. I really want the surgery but with state funded insurance, I think my chances are slim of getting it approved.

Does anyone know if wearing compression garments, like a girdle, after surgery, will help to reduce sagging skin?

My surgery for bypass is is May 2nd. I had sleeve 5 years ago. Since I will be eating so much less soon, what do I do with my time? After coming home from work, I usually prepare dinner, eat, then watch tv until bedtime. While watching tv, I'll eat a couple of snacks. What will I do to avoid eating after dinner? I know I could exercise, or do a craft, but I want to relax and not have busy hands. Any ideas out there?

I’m 16 days post op. I was not told to stop by birth control (or any of my medications for that matter) at any point, but I got my period the other day, which is not typical. I also have been feeling very depressed and I’m wondering if I’m not absorbing/processing my antidepressants correctly. I’m seeing my doctor Monday. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this and how it panned out. Thank you in advance

I started this journey @ 470lbs. I'm 5 1/2 months post-op and today I weighed in at 369lbs! I'd like to encourage all the pre-op/recent surgery folks. Stick with it...Follow the steps. It's not easy but it's more than worth it. Good luck and God bless us all on this journey!

Had my first initial appointment with the surgeons dr. I had to do an assessment and discussion with this doctor he works with the surgeon and assists him. If anyone is from Adelaide Australia and looking at surgery I suggest you look into Ashford hospital bariatrics. I will meet the surgeon next time but for a first impression face to face with this doctor he was so friendly open to the point he listened to everything I had to say he was impressed with how much I knew and I told him I've been researching everything for months and he agreed with me about the RNY mostly because of how bad my diabetes type2 is that's number one, we had a good discussion he wa…

Got up super late, showered and went back to bed. Lazed about til 3 pm upstairs and then finally had something to eat. Cup of fat free cottage cheese and a 1/2 of bread. Not supposed to eat bread yet but I warmed up the cottage cheese in the microwave and soaked it in the whey. Just didn’t feel like eating. Not sure what’s going on here. I guess lots of changes.

I am going to start purees this week. I have a regular blender that is a pain to clean and a big food processor. What kind of hand blender do you have? I am assuming I will use it long term so I don't mind spending $30-50. Certain attachments or anything especially handy?

Hope I don’t regret it... not even a week post op and I had a small nibble of chicken and 4 gulps of apple juice... Not sure how to calculate it but that baked chicken looked so good. My husband should have just baked one for himself and kept the rest for later so that I wasn’t tempted. Earlier I was asking him what smelled like oil... he said that he spilled something in the oven and I swear when he was baking the chicken it almost caught fire. I asked him to use the toaster oven instead. It worked out well as it tasted yummy. I am so bad that I picked at a few of the chicken bits that had stuck to the pan... mmm drippings lol so bad.... Then I said ok that…

For those in OC California, i highly recommend Dr. Michael Russo , at Orange Coast Memorial. He and his team are very kind and professional. He takes his time to talk to you about everything very truthfully and very nicely. He is honest and you can tell. He doesn't tell you what you might want to hear, but tells you frankly. What he said all happened for me! 1.5 yrs ago i had him for gastric bypass. I am now 5lbs from my goal- and maintaining. I followed all the directions of his team and had no complications. I also had my regular scheduled check ups with them and was very pleased every time. He's very good at his job. My scars shrunk and look much better, and like i men…

So I was having a couple cups of coffee with cream (as a treat) and it was so hot when I was chewing gum it kinda melted and I swallowed it! Anyone ever done this? I’m only second week in to my operation. (March 11th was my date) I hear that swallowing gum and the time it takes to digest is an old wives tale but what can I do? Should I be worried?

Hi! I am exactly one week post op, and I have kind of a silly sounding question. When I eat or drink anything, I don’t really get a feeling a fullness like I did before surgery. My surgeon said to stop eating at the first sign of fullness, but I don’t know what that sign is in my new body! Obviously I’m still taking things slow and being mindful, but does anyone have any helpful indicators to help me tell when my stomach says no more?? And does anyone else struggle with this?? Thank you!

I've always been a little anemic. Can anyone tell me if they were anemic before RNY and what effect it had on them after the surgery. I would really prefer to do the RNY but if it will become a health issue do to malabsorption I will probably change to the sleeve. I plan to discuss this with my doctor on March 20th. I do understand that i will be required to take vitamins for both surgeries which i am pretty good at but I do not want to have to deal with anemia after my surgery. I greatly appreciate any input.

I am getting all of my protein in but I am wondering am I eating enough? Being on the liquid diet before I was achieving about 930 calories a day with just the protein shakes plus 10-50 extra calories with sugar free jello and broth. Any advice?

Hi everyone. I’m new to this site and just had surgery on 2/27. I was wondering if any ladies who have had their surgery experienced weight gain right after surgery? The morning of my surgery they weighed me and 2 1/2 days later when I was discharged, they weighed me again and I was 11 lbs. heavier. I understand bloating but have never been so bloated that I gained that much more weight. So just curious if anyone else had a similar experience.

Wow, I see a lot of people here saying that they only needed to do two weeks of pre-op diet. I’ve been told six weeks and I need to start with shakes only in a few weeks (surgery in May). And those 6 weeks plus the post-op liquid diet is a looong time with no solids. Damn!

There are so many things I'm finding that I can't eat, usually bc it comes back up within minutes. However, grapefruit I can eat plenty of. Have to have it daily. I take a multivitamin that was recommended by my Dr. , but I'm wondering if this craving for grapefruit indicates some kind of shortcoming in my vitamins. I'm also worried that too much grapefruit might not be a good thing for me. This isn't sweetened grapefruit, just all natural. Aside from the multivitamin, I'm not on any other meds so there's no chance of a drug interaction/contraindication bc of the grapefruit. I can eat about 4 things- cereal, grapefruit, soup and chicken.

  42. I'm finishing my first week post-op liquid diet today and will transition to pureed food tomorrow. The past week has been quite easy because there is essentially no choice involved. However, I'm a bit worried about constructing my own diet from now on that ensures enough protein. Did any of you find that difficult at first? Does it get easier?

Today makes 6 weeks since my surgery and I officially go back to regular foods. It has definitely been a journey, learning my new stomach during this process. Vegetables are my best friend so far. Some sugar free drinks actually taste too sweet and I have to Water them down. My weight is coming off at a steady and not too rapid pace, which I am glad of. So I had surgery 10 days ago. We have a scheduled trip at 4.5 weeks post op. It includes a day at an amusement park and the beach. I am guessing I wont get into the ocean past my knees which is fine and I wont do any roller coaster rides etc. My husband is worried I wont be able to eat, will get dehydrated etc and wants to cancel. How hard is it to find and eat soft foods when out and about? The thing that worries me is trying a new fish etc for the first time at a restaurant. I know I can take shakes with me and have yogurt and feel safe with that so far.

Hey y'all. Just wanted to share a milestone I'm very proud of and actually doubted ever being able to reach. I just had my 1 year surgeon's and RD's visit after RNY surgery. A year ago I was here (yes that tree was my happy spot, and it stayed up until St. Patrick's Day *snort*). And here I was at my most recent high, very sick weight of 287lbs (about 2 years ago). When I first saw my surgeon, I had been dieting on my own for 6 months and had lost down to 256lbs. The 256lbs was used to compute my RNY 6 month countdown. I'm the one of the left in case you were wondering--all 287 lbs. Most of you know my story so I won't bore you with it here. I …
