Hi, I just have a question about how much you can all get in. I am 7 days out Lapband to RNY. At this point I tolerate maybe 3-4 bites of jello, sips of a protein drinks. I am just not hungry or thirsty. I just sip sip sip all day. At this point my guidelines say 3 drinks a day between three meals with a 1/4 of a cup of something cottage cheese or yogart. Not a chance I could do this. Could you all? Just wondering if I am behind and not pushing it enough.

I'm curious about what others may be eating at about 7 weeks out from surgery. I'm around 700 calories per day with a 50% protein 20% fat 30% carb ratio. I had a revision from sleeve to RNY and after the initial 20 pounds lost the rest is coming off extremely slowly. Its hard to get the 75-90 grams of protein in without relying on 2 shakes a day. I'm looking for tips on what to eat to get my protein in with eating 3-4 small meals per day. (1/2 a shake or no shake if possible) Thanks in advance for sharing!

I had my bypass surgery 04/25/2019. It was one of the happiest and best decisions made. My depression comes from the weight loss I started at 308. and now 285. I walk everyday I work out and eat what it says in my booklet. My weight is not moving, is this normal?

In my surgeon consult yesterday he told me that once I have surgery, I must avoid NSAIDS at any and all costs because the potential to cause ulcers. Pardon the pun, but this was a tough pill to swallow LOL What in the world do you do when you have a headache or period cramps? Tylenol has always been 100% ineffective for me especially with period cramps. Headaches are rare for me, but cramps...those are a definite once a month occurrence and they show no mercy except when I toss back about 4 Advil

Quick background. Im 2 months post gastric bypass, and have been on protein shakes only this whole time due to a stricture. I'm just starting to have pureed foods. I blended up some homemade vegetable soup, which included broccoli, and took 2 Beano pills, but boy, the volume of gas is tremendous! Everything I try to eat gives me gas. Any suggestions?

So I am over 3 months post op. I had a one brief 1 week stall but otherwise I am consistently at 2-3 lbs/week. I know everyone is different etc. but did you lose quickly until month 3, 4 or 6 then slow down and stay at that rate for months? Did your weight loss stay steady until 6 months out? Did it just slowly decrease over time?

So I’m sitting here 13 days PO and I keep having these recurring thoughts of “what if my bypass just doesn’t work...?” Irrational, I know. I’m not talking about losing the weight and regaining. I mean straight up NOT losing anything ever. That doesn’t happen, right? I have no complications, no pain, I can drink and take my supplements with no issue. That scares me too. Like, I thought this was supposed to be hard. If I didn’t see the scars on my belly I would second guess that I ever had surgery. ?

I am starting to think that perhaps I have an ulcer - I'm just wondering if it needs to be diagnosed with an endoscopy, or can the surgeon figure it out without one?

I'm 6.5 weeks out from surgery, and I'm desperately craving a sandwich or wrap or something of the like. Just eating the cold cuts/cheese or chicken salad or whatever isn't cutting it. I don't currently have any food restrictions from my team (I'm allowed to try whatever I want in small amounts), just whatever my body decides is a no-go, but it's already rejected 100% whole wheat toast, so I'm terrified what it would do with soft bread. Would a wheat or spinach tortilla be a better option? What about a FlatOut wrap (well, part of one, since they're large)? I haven't tried any of the above yet because I'm leery of dumping again like I did after just two tiny bite…

I am 7 weeks post op, I have lost 40 pounds since I surgery, and I have no appetite at all. It is a chore to eat, and I have to force myself to eat. Nothing tastes good, and I'm just trying to desperately get my protein in. Anyone else have this issue?

I'll be one year post op next month and have an appointment with the PA at my surgeons office . However, my endo ordered some labs and normal range for ferritin is 15-150 and mine was 16. She said I do not need to start supplementation. This was the only test she ordered regarding my iron level. Anyone have any experience like this? With it being so close to abnormal, it seems like I could become deficient in the next year before it's checked again .

So as most of you know I had me sleeve done 3-20-19. This was the best decision I made for myself. Since my surgery I have only lost 25 lbs. I have been doing everything they have asked, just can't lose it. I work out, get my protein and water. I'm not gaining just don't know what else to do. I'm so scary this will not work for me after I went through a year and a half working for it. The one day of the week that I don't go to the gym I feel guilty about it At first I was thinking this is a stall but come on I'm in week 9. I just don't know what to do anymore, hoping this wasn't a waste of time.

I have had the worst time since surgery. I have had a bowel obstruction, and have been told I have narrowing connected to my stomach. I had the dilitation once via endoscopy, but the top of my abdomen hurts. It feels like I have a brick there. I’m petrified to have surgery again, but I think I will need revision surgery. Anyone else have any of these issues??

Hi there new to here. I am 2 weeks post sleeve op. I had a few problems but they seem to be getting better. I have read numerous conversations on here that say basically the sleeve is a waste of tim and bypass is the way to go. Has anyone had success with sleeve and found it a good choice? Hope I didnt make the wrong choice.

I have just got back from a months holiday overseas and am really pleased that in spite of not eating very healthily I still lost weight. Down approx. 1.8kg and almost at goal. The main reason for the not eating as healthily as I should have should have is that for most of the holiday we were staying with other people so restaurants were selected that suited the larger group. We started off in California where we ate mainly Mexican or burger/ribs. I have to say that I like the fact that your restaurants allow and encourage meal sharing as it meant I could have some of hubby's food instead of having to order a huge plate of my own. I know the US has a reputation …

hello! Anyone out there like me with Hypothyroidism? How has the surgery affected weight loss? Is it normal? Energy levels? I'm still taking Synthroid 75mcg for my symptoms but I want to know if it gets easier and if the hormones get under control. I'm only 12 days out from bypass but I wanted to see if anyone out here was further along and how their body is adjusting.

I don’t seem to dump. I haven’t tested it out by going carb crazy or anything but I can have a piece or two of dark chocolate or some starchy veggies and nothing happens. Not that I want it to happen but it’s an added incentive to not eat junk.

I'm about a month and a half out from my surgery, and I've lost 43 lbs. My scale number on Friday morning said 315 lbs. This morning, it was 317-318. Think this is just normal fluctuation? My diet hasn't changed, and I'm getting in my 60-80 grams of protein a day and all my water. I did try something this weekend that I ordered from the bariatric pal store, the guilt-free brownies that have 22 grams of protein in them per brownie. (Could only eat half a brownie at a time) I still ate under 700 calories per day. Weight gain makes little sense to me at this point unless it's just fluctuation or retaining a bit of water

Hello! I am a 2x kidney transplant recipient, the latest transplant being done November 2016. My kidney and I have been stable with a creatinine of around 1.4. About 6 months before the transplant I had a Nissen Fundoplication (GERD surgery) because of a hiatal hernia and it got to the point that drinking water hurt my stomach severely. The NF worked and the GERD went away until earlier this year. Now the GERD is back with a vengeance because I have ANOTHER hiatal hernia! My bariatric surgeon has recommended I have a RnY gastric bypass to get rid of the GERD permanently and possibly lower my blood pressure and cholesterol which are currently controlled by medications…

I have the worst stomach pain. I'm 6 weeks post op and it's been for the last 3 weeks. Doc says it is acid. But I get stabbing pains when I drink water and when I eat. I have been taking Pepcid that sort of helps with the constancy but not the pain when I eat and drink. I'm eating just once a day in the mornings when it isn't so bad and drinking only about 50 ounces it has gotten so bad. I see the Doc again on Tuesday. I have done research and it could be something more serious. What have you experienced?

My husband had RNY bypass surgery in 2000. Last two blood tests (2x per year) he has low Hemoglobin and Low Hemocrit. Web says that is low anemia. Doctor put him on Ferrous Sulfate 65Mg 1x per day and B12 injections 2x per month. Blood test now she his high on B12 and 1 point over high end of scale on Iron. But, still has no energy. He is even taking Vitamin D3 supplementation. His thyroid is low.. close to hyper they say. I wonder if this may have anything to do with it and should he see an endocrinologist? Or Is it possible he could have a gastric bleed? He takes allot of pain reliever for back pain as he has had 3 back surgeries. Just trying to figure this ou…

Would you rather be able to tolerate EVERYTHING, like almost feel normal. No nausea, no dumping, no food stuck, no intolerance if it meant losing more slowly and having to be more vigilant or would you rather have things make you sick, feel a lot of restriction, no appetite but lose very fast and not have to make an effort to "diet"? I'm asking because I almost feel like I didnt have the bypass. I feel so normal! I really have to constantly try not to overeat or eat the wrong foods because nothing makes me sick. I am so envious of people who say they have to set an alarm to eat or people who lost 100 pounds in the first 4 months. I feel cheated that my bypass ha…

Since starting my preop diet, I have lost 54lbs. 54lbs in 9 weeks just seems insane to me. I’m super proud of myself bc I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the surgery, but I still worry I’m losing to quick. Anyone else had this concern? Here are a few progress pics:

Hi everyone, I have been poking around the forums without finding anyone else mentioning these issues, so I guess I need to ask the group. As the title says, I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). This means that I have trouble with certain foods (i.e., fatty or greasy), but also my stomach will act up for no reason, making me feel nauseous, weak, and gassy. Constipation is a constant companion, but I manage that with Metamucil and other mucoids. I also have fibromyalgia, which makes me achey all over, and fatigue and weakness are also a problem. Besides that, I had two back surgeries, one which caused nerve damage, so I am taking a lot of strong pain meds to contro…

Ok, I've got to be honest here, I won't know if I don't ask. I use to smoke marajuana before surgery, I quit weeks before surgery and have not had it ever since. I just started smoking it about two years ago because of my gout and it gave me great relief, more than my meds. My question is, I will be 4 weeks out comes this Monday and I want to inhale so bad, but I'm scared it may do something to my recovery, but on the other hand because I've used it for healing in the past I want it. What are your honest opinion? If you are a smoker have you started back smoking again?

I am just 10 days out from having my surgery and I still have so many practical questions for all you bypassers. I am a teacher and was thinking about the whole "hydration machine" mindset that you have to have. In other words, drinking water in small sips all during the day. Can I get away with drinking only in between classes or do I need to make sure that I drink during classes as well? What do you all think?

I realize this is normal, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. I'm trying to expand what I eat from beyond just Wendy's chili and puree'd chicken salad and minor things like that. I've found fish goes down well, but chicken is kind of hit or miss. I tried chicken paprikash for lunch today. It did not stay down. I'm getting really frustrated at the things that don't stay down because they're good protein foods. My body just rejects them.

Time to make an update on here. I’m out of the hospital and recovering at home now. I feel like I could write a novel on the past few days but to make it as short as possible: While waiting to be taken to the operating room on Monday I was told they couldn’t preform the surgery due to other more urgent patients. So I slept at a hotel and came back the next morning, and after a long wait I finally had surgery in the late afternoon on Tuesday. My hospital experience has not been great unfortunately. The only person who seemed to care was my very kind surgeon, everyone else had an attitude like “you chose this, deal with it”. Didn’t get a lot of painkillers, and I wasn’t…
