In my surgeon consult yesterday he told me that once I have surgery, I must avoid NSAIDS at any and all costs because the potential to cause ulcers. Pardon the pun, but this was a tough pill to swallow LOL What in the world do you do when you have a headache or period cramps? Tylenol has always been 100% ineffective for me especially with period cramps. Headaches are rare for me, but cramps...those are a definite once a month occurrence and they show no mercy except when I toss back about 4 Advil

That's an NSAID. So it's on the "NO" list for bypass patients.

There are some natural alternatives to NSAIDS, like Turmeric for instance. So coupling a natural alternative with the pain meds we are allowed to take can come close to mimicking an NSAID.

Aspirin is an NSAID so is contraindicated after gastric bypass. Do not take it as it may cause ulcers.

Oh yikes, I had no idea. I've never taken it because my mother had heard it can cause some health problems in young females and she banned me from it and then when I grew up I never got in the habit to take it. I just always remember hearing ppl on the telly say things like "take two aspirin and call me in the morning" [emoji16]

I mourned never having NSAIDS again, seriously - I used to take it every night for aches and pains. Once I tried tylenol again I was surprised at how well it worked - I was like you, in the "tylenol has no power here" camp. But it handles my cramps, headaches etc now just fine.

If you are post-baby making days, you could consider ablation....I had it done three years ago along with a tubal. I was getting pretty heavy periods as I got older and went back on BC and 9 months later got a DVT, so i was never allowed to take any type of BC again..not even a copper IUD (which my GP said causes heavier bleeding in many people.). Long story short.....I no longer get a period and no longer have any cramps. I am past the point of wanting more children which is why i chose that. If you want children, you can't do that though.

This sounds magical OMG I'd love to never have a period again. My factory is closed indefinitely! LOL

It's great...one of the best things I ever did but you have to be 100% sure no more babies.....

Girl, I'm sure! I have a 17 year old and 8 year old. If I have any more kids, they'll be inherited from the next person I decide to date LOL My body does not like pregnancy. Definitely going to look into this. Was is painful?

I had it with a tubal...so tubal and endometrial ablation together- it was done as outpatient. Tubal was laproscopic and the other was well.....You can google it. But I was asleep

Didn't really hurt too much after. Nominal pain the day of and took some pain meds.

Basically felt like you did 1000 situps ...from the tubal pain. I don't know how I would feel after just the ablation but I had it on a thursday and Saturday I went to a picnic for a few hours and then Monday back to work. I have had friends that have had both together and say the same thing...most of the pain is from the tubal.

OP - can you take Mirena? There is no estrogen in it. It is wonderful and you have zero periods. It is levonorgestrel.

I am really concerned about the NSAID thing, too, personally. I took 800mg Ibuprofen and Flurbiprofen for my joints. Hopefully the topical NSAID I just got works... haven't tried it yet.

Nope, that was the first IUD they gave me and I broke out like a pubescent teenager too LOL Honestly my cramps only last like a day or 2. They aren’t unbearable but you know, when you can pop a pill and make it all go away, then you do it and usually just mindlessly.

I did it too.... amazing

I have chronic back pain and I take Tramadol with Tylenol. They both work better together.

I did too. Since surgery though it's been like I never had it done. I was 38 when done. Now 47. Have appt with gyn next week to see if I need to repeat it
