  1. I've lost 70 pounds and now I am freezing all the time - cold hands, cold neck - BRRRRRRR! I was the gal with no winter coat and no sweaters to speak of. Anyone else freezing?

    Pounds lost

7 Months out and 110 lbs lost - my doctor said I am a "High Outlier" though. One year's weight lost in 6 months.

    Extremely rude nurse

Definitely report her - there should be a nurse manager that you can speak to, if you don't get a response I would then go to the hospital admin.
  4. I am almost 7 months post op and have lost 110 pounds - which is A LOT in a short time. I had a lot to lose and my goal is about 40 more pounds at most or 20 more at least. BUT Ive been stalled for about 8 weeks and getting antsy that because I lost so much so fast that now I've hit the end of my active loss. I don't know if I can lose 40 pounds on my own. Guess I'm looking for encouragement or at least your different experiences.

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

He is a bit much, decent info but ugh.🤣🤣

    Laying down

Be on the lookout for blood clots if you are spending that much time in a recliner. Try to get in your bed as soon as possible - I agree with the wedge pillow suggestion, I couldn't have done it without mine.

    Just some random mind dumps

    1. I WEIGH LESS THAN MY HUSBAND!!!!!!! 2. I have decided to claim I have "finally lost the baby weight" if anyone asks. My daughter is 23 3. That is all - just wanted to share my joy today.
  8. I completely agree - I don't see why this would be a no-go for surgery. Especially if you planned to get help with it somewhere along the line. Everyone uses food as a comfort, I told my docs that I planned on going to therapy to deal with my food/emotions connections. I actually have found that while I enjoy therapy, it hasn't made the difference when it came to emotional eating - what made the difference was the surgery itself.
  9. I’m 4 months out and food is good but I just don’t care too much. I make an effort to try plenty of things but rarely have cravings. I could just eat protein bars and be perfectly happy. Do crazy strong cravings come back to haunt at some point?

    Bad posture

I’ve lost about 80lbs and suddenly I’m walking hunched over - practically folded in half! Should I add sit ups or something?
  11. I am about 4 months out - up until about a week before Christmas I was losing a pound a day - awesome right? Well then I had a stall, and now I have lost about 10 pounds in three weeks, which, believe me I am very happy about. I've lost about 92 lbs (including 25 pre surgery pounds). Should I just relax and expect this slow down or can it pick up again? Thanks!
  12. Crushing self doubt!!!! LOL NO, I really can't complain at all, I'm just being insecure. I REALLY want to kiss ONEderland and I'm afraid I'll never get there... 😬
  13. So I think I should stop complaining! I'm just worried this is all a dream and I'll wake up one day and it will all go away!
  14. OOOOh is there one for bypass? is it different I wonder?
  15. Do you have a link to the study? Sounds interesting.
  16. So I have never been a big fan of working out (obviously) so I really just don't know if what I'm doing is enough. I am just beginning and wondering if what I am doing is enough. I have a magnetic resistance recumbant stationary bike - I do about 25-30 mins per day. I don't sweat, I am only slightly out of breath but I DO feel it in my legs and butt afterwards, maybe even the next morning. Is this enough? any opinions or advice is welcome.

    Life without NSAIDS?

I mourned never having NSAIDS again, seriously - I used to take it every night for aches and pains. Once I tried tylenol again I was surprised at how well it worked - I was like you, in the "tylenol has no power here" camp. But it handles my cramps, headaches etc now just fine.

    Mental Derps 101

So this is very interesting to me, I'm prone to deficiencies and the RNY was a calculated risk for me. I too have been slowly decreasing my protein from 70 to around 55-60, not on purpose but just as I got back to real food its a bit harder to fit in. I think I'll bump it back up to 70 now that I read this. Thanks!

    I'm so COLD!

I lost about 25 before surgery - and I'm zeroing in on 75 lbs lost altogether so the majority of the weight was lost after surgery. I started a lot higher than you did though.

    Mental Derps 101

My therapist (started going before surgery to deal with my "fat" brain) encouraged me to make a thought journal when I have thoughts like this - you kind of just did but its good practice to write it down: Evidence FOR the anxious thought Evidence Against the anxious thought Then look and see what real evidence you have - it helps me sort out anxiety from reality. Anxiety is a nasty "what if" joy stealer! Good luck to you - we have all been there.

    I'm so COLD!

Oh I know WHY I'm cold, I just never thought it would happen to me!

    Significant weight goal reached

I'm just 3 pounds from reaching my lowest in 25 years - so I TOTALLY understand those benchmarks. Congrats to you!
  23. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the phrase "Dead Food" it is so evocative - I will carry that term around with me from now on.
  24. Its pretty structured - memory/iq(ish) test, vocab test and a true/false(ish) test. then a discussion about your support system and alcohol use. Not much to prepare for.
