I just need to tell someone who cares or understands my anguish about going bald my hair is literally coming out in clumps, strands falling out when the wind blows. This is effing devastating. I get 100gms of protein. I drink 80 oz or more of water. I take ALL supplements and NEVER miss. And I **** you not I am literally looking at wigs. I can't even breathe.

Sooooooo, i assumed i had a "stomach ulcer" due to the pain i was experiencing. Once i described the problem, my doctor's assistant prescribed me medication. A month later the medicine does nothing. I went back still complaining aboutmy stomach so my doctor requested a Endoscopy. I had the procedure done yesterday (7/19/19) and the doctors said i dont have a Ulcer. (WTF)? In fact he said my stomach looks great. No signs of complications, I didn't stretch my stomach out or anything. He said i look perfectly fine. What the hell..???

Hi all, I’m two months pre op right now with several comorbidities that require daily medications. While I am hopeful to get off of all or at least most of my medications, I don’t know when that will happen. Do all meds come in liquid form? I can’t figure out how on earth the handful of pills I am presently taking can be taken with a post op pouch! Also, if you used a cpap, how long after surgery did you get off of it? Thanks.

I've had my RNY date through dependant on pre op assessment, 10 Sept. It's real [emoji33] Anyone else for September op?

  8. Started by Krestel,

I think Im experiencing my first stall and boy is it frustrating. I even caught myself once emotional eating. (I keep a food journal in order to keep an eye on my eating habits and make notes to myself.) Im 2 months out of surgery and Im 27 pounds down since surgery and about 65 pounds since the beginning of my journey. While not bad...the first stall is slightly killing me. So my question is when did you all have your first stall/plateau? How much weight had you lost by then?

  13. Hey! I was wondering if you guys had any tips on making meat softer and a bit easier to digest? I am two years post op and can eat pretty much anything but chicken breast and beef are sometimes hard to digest? Any tips on ways to cook meat to make them softer? I also love recipes or non meat related healthy, yummy food ideas ❤️

  14. I am having surgery Wednesday 31July. I am wanting to use the tool as best as I can. I know we are all different and heal at different rates, but I am wondering... How soon after surgery did you start a exercise routine? What did it consist of?

  15. Hi everyone! Just joined from Argentina. I had my gastric bypass on June 25th. I am at the stage where every 90 minutes I am supposed to be ingesting something... a protein shake... yogurt... vegetable soup... and for the life of me, I just can't get myself to eat so frequently. Firstly, I am not hungry AT ALL, ever. And secondly, I am so busy with work, and life, and kids, that the day just flies by and maybe out of the 8 or 9 meals I should have had during the day, I had 4. There is also the fact that you can't drink any liquids with these meals, so every time I want to drink something, I remember I am supposed to eat... so I skip the water, do the meal, and …

I got word yesterday that my surgery date will be September 16th. It seems like a long time, but it will give me time to prepare. What did everyone do to help pass the time before surgery? I worry that they are not having me meet with a nutritionist even and I really want to get this right!

I'm 4 1/2 months past OP and my right hip and lower back hurt SO bad. I have arthritis but I thought losing wgt. would help but it seems it's made it worse and now I can only take tylenol. Has anyone heard of this happening?

  19. Started by ZGal,

Anyone have any luck with reducing pain (I’ve used Tylenol) that’s not an NSAID? I’ve been experiencing hip pain; this is most apparent when using my rowing machine and when I was heavier, but now it bothers me while simply walking. I’m going to my dr next week, but I would love to hear if anyone has any success with anything else until I go to the dr. thank you in advance!

So, I joined these forums specifically for this question, but I think I'll hang around for awhile. Yes, I know my medical team would have the best answer, however they are ever so hard to get hold of if you don't have an appointment. So here goes. Originally I was told to use nothing but whey Protein and shoot for at least 20 gm per serving. For the last 14 or 15 months, I've been using Max Protein from SEI Pharmaceuticals. But it only comes in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Not very original. So I've been looking around for protein supplements. So here are the questions: 1. - What's your absolutely favorite? 2. - I see a bunch of them that contain Casei…

Hey y’all! I am 1 week and 1 day post surgery. It was a lapband to bypass revision and I literally cannot stomach anything but water and some Gatorade zero. My tiny tummy and bowels are still hurting and I feel like I may never be able to consume food again. I know it’s part of the process and feeling bummed or depressed about food is very common but I just want to see if the stomach and bowel pain is common. I have no issues going to the restroom because it is straight liquid. I was back in the hospital Sunday into Monday because I ended up with cellulitis in my left side. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi all, newbie here. I'm due for bypass surgery in september. I was wondering how you dealt with the lead up? Did you have support from friends and family? If not how did you manage that? I've found all friends and family supported the idea but now it's become reality it's been very different. I'm very much on my own and frankly, bricking it [emoji51]

  24. So, not last Saturday, but the one before, I went to Cedar Point Shores, a water park here in Ohio. Before going into the park, I had a decent amount of protein for the day, but I stopped eating around noon. Around 3, I noticed that I was starting to get... not hungry, per se, but my body was starting to feel a bit weak and tired. Still, I was having fun, and I made sure to get my vitamins in. So, I didn't go grab anything from the food stands By the time we made it to the restaurant around six, I was a bit on the dizzy side. And then they gave me cold chili :|. My hands were shaking, and my body was weak. But when I ate my chili, everything started to fe…

I work in the GI department of a hospital. Today we had a patient who was 14 years post gastric bypass. She looked great, but had started having pain in her upper abdomen. She had also started drinking alcohol fairly regularly. The endoscopic exam revealed a horrific ulcer at the jejunum-gastric anastomosis. I have seen other post bypass patients with ulcers and erosions at the anastomosis, but hers was the worst by far. I do not want to offend anyone, but seeing the damage done by becoming a bit careless or overconfident, even years after surgery, was enough for me to commit to NEVER touch alcohol, and certainly never to smoke. I will not drink coffee again, either. I ha…

  26. Hi There, I'm new to this website as just recently had my first initial screening with the nurse and now have a bunch of nutritionist, behavior appmnts to attend (6 I believe for Nutrition and 2 Behavior and then more after). My question is, I have Harvard Pilgrim *** and feel nervous about NOT being accepted. I am JUST over the BMI score to qualify , at 40.1 but still nervous as the nurse barely mentioned anything about getting accepted or rejected....just started booking my nutrition appmnts and said I basically qualify because I am 40.1. Im worried Harvard Pilgrim will deny me for some reason. Also, can anyone tell me how long the process took? 3 mo, 4 mo, 6 mo? T…

  27. So I'm 13 days away from my 6 month anniversary and I'm 114 pounds down. I have to ask...how do y'all deal with the excess skin? I sometimes sit down and I feel like I sat on a throw someone left on the sofa. I lay down in bed and sometimes I have to lift my butt and pull my skin out so it's flat. When I brush my teeth my upper arms applaud me as they slap against my armpits. I realize that without a skin removal surgery it's something we have to live with, but for those who are a year or two out, and haven't had a reduction surgery, does your skin firm up on its own at all?

  28. On June 30th, I had my Gastric Bypass reversed, due to a hernia and small bowel obstruction ? It was a 6 hour open procedure. I was hospitalized for 9 days and it’s going to take a bit until I fully recover. After having some form of weight loss surgery since 2003, my anatomy has been put back to normal. I’m sad that I no longer have a tool to help me with my weight but I’m glad that I’m alive and able to talk about it. Thank you to my friends that prayed and supported me through this difficult time!

  29. While I know that I haven't stretched my pouch, I find myself craving chocolate often... Anyone have any suggestions for stopping or circumventing these cravings?

  30. Started by Lynda486,

They say I am going to skip the Psych stuff, and the usual longer diet since my BMI is 36. I will have to meet with a nutritionist and do a 3 day diet before surgery. The gal I talked to said she would talk to the DR. on Wednesday and then get back with me to schedule my surgery. Whoot!

  32. So, I’m single. A lot of my social life involves meeting various friends for dinner or another meal. I’m worried that I will be unable to do that for many, many months. How long did you guys wait until you went out to dinner? It’s not even really about the food, it’s about the company. My surgery is August 12.

While traveling in Europe for a month, I ate foods very different from my norm. Only 5 months post-op, my diet has been pretty simple and bland. For the last week of my trip I had daily diarrhea. I’ve been home 24 hours - have been drinking only warm chamomile tea. Still have diarrhea. Any suggestions to get back on track?

  34. Started by ???????,

Please folks...I'm not hear for a lecture. I'm just reporting what my surgeon's office told me was OK and I'm curious if anyone else's surgeon said the same. I haven't had surgery yet. OK so....I emailed my surgeon the other day and asked what NON-NSAID pain relief can they prescribe for period cramps (in case Tylenol ends up not working for me) when the time comes because my cramps are pretty brutal for maybe 2 days max. She said they rarely do that BUT, as long as I stay on Prevacid after surgery, taking a couple Advil per month should be safe and fine. Has anyone else been told this and ended up getting an ulcer anyway? Thanks for your feedback!!!

Seems I had a serious case of the fomos this week with @GreenTealael having her upcoming VSG to RNY surgery for GERD and @Alex Brecher having his RNY reversal for bowel obstructions/necrosis. I just had to wrap up a pending tri-fecta! LOL What I thought was a serious case of food poisoning — or as I like to say, “When good refrigerator roulette goes bad”...was actually a sudden onset of internal hernia with twisted gut. It came on so quickly Sunday night and by Tuesday I couldn’t eat. And Wednesday ended up curled up on a cold tile (filthy) floor in the ER convinced I was …

I'm 4 months post op bypass. Does anyone know where our macros should be? I'm wanting to log food in my fitbit app. Also what is a healthy calorie intake? I'm not looking for peoples opinions just if you've spoken to and gotten this info from your Dr or nutritionist or if you yourself have a background in nutrition. Thank you. I WILL be double checking with my own team but won't be able to until Wednesday and just wanted some info to get me through the weekend. Thank you!

Hey everyone, so my name is Christina and I about almost 8years out. I have been having trouble losing ever since my gall bladder that I had to have removed about 6 years ago. I was able to get down to 245 but then found out that I was pregnant with my first son. Now he is 3 years old and I am constantly fluctuating between 250 and 260. I hardly ever work out due to me being the only one in our household that works. I normally get about 6000-7000 steps per 8hour shift and when I get home I am so worn out I head straight to bed. I haven't been able to find real nutrition values and every time I ask the nutritionalist at the doctor's office they always act as if I am a pain…

  43. Started by Klimczak,

Hi! I posted this in the revision board but that board is a ghost town :) haha. Am en route to have my lapband revised to the RNY (most likely- not sold on the sleeve...) and I am trying to figure out how much time off from work I need. When I had the lapband surgery, I spent a day in the hospital with gas pains and just a little sore. If I had the job I have now back then (middle school teacher- so I can be fairly sedentary if needed) I think I would’ve been able to go back to work within a few days. I mean, I just had a baby with no drugs, had to be stitched and I was going on long walks the day after. I also had ankle reconstruction and went back to work …

  44. I have always assumed, ok..in the last few weeks when I changed dr's and the new one said that I could indeed have a gastric bypass and that based on the weight I need to lose, etc. it would be the best best - especially as my insurance is a "one and done" (i.e. you only get 1 bariatric surgery..EVER)....I assumed the RNY would be done via laparoscopy? Hopefully the days of "open" RNY's, etc. are a thing of the past. However, I just got my "official copy" of my insurance approval and it says "Gastric Bypass by Endoscopy" What the heck? Is this a normal part of RNY - do they go down your..um...esophagus and also do little incisions on your abdomen? I've been s…

  47. So I didnt see a June thread and wanted to make one so we could all stay accountable and have a lot of good and bad experiences together!!! Introducing myself: My name is Kassandra, I am 27 years young, I have 3 great kids (9 yr old & 5yr old little boys & a 2 year old little girl), a wonderful hubby, and 3 great cats. I'm a type 2 diabetic & have sleep apnea. I decided to do this to take my life back because I do NOT want my kids to lose me so young. I'm 5 ft 2 and 258 lbs. I was 293 last summer then I started to make small changes to get ready for surgery. I had planned for the sleeve but my insurance won't cover it right now so RNY it is!!!
