I live in Henderson but like 10 minutes away from Las Vegas. I have not yet received the gb yet. Still need support and mentoring. I will give the same. I don't think location matters much as it's just chat but it would be nice to find local people.

Hello Friends! Today all my paperwork was submitted to the insurance. Surgical coordinator said I should be hearing from her in a week. I think waiting for approval and the moment before surgery is the most nerve wrecking. Nonetheless I'm hopeful for a positive outcome. How soon did you all hear from your insurance? And what was the most nerve wrecking moment for you? - V

MY surgery was 2-26-14. I felt like everything was going great till I started puréed food. I got bad stomach pains and called the doc. He said I must not be ready for puréed and to go back to liquids. The pain finally went away after two hours. Thursday I got severe pains and was throwing up. It was in the evening so I got an on call doctor who said give it an hour and see how you feel, that was about 6 pm. At 2am I went to the hospital in my town cause I couldn't stop throwing up, and my stomach was empty so that made it worse. After a cats an they found out I had a hernia and rushed me by ambulance to the next big town to have emergency surgery. My doctor came in and po…

I'm moving from Band to RNY on the 29th of October. The band which I got in 2009 helped me lose 150lbs but also gave me severe gastrparesis. My stomach will no longer digest food. It goes in and sits there for days. Becomes septic. I get ill. It's miserable. Worst decision ever. My surgeon is hopeful this will fix the issue. But he cautioned me it could be a rough surgery because they don't know the true extent of damage done by my band and the gastrparesis until they open me up. That's not comforting to hear. I hear soooo many horror stories on social media. I think I'm prepared. The liquid diet has been rough. My stomach has reacted with severe nausea and constan…

Hi all, Brooke here...I had my procedure on 10/13. My HW was 366. On surgery day 351. As of 10/30 330 pounds...Really hoping to lose 30 more by Christmas. My goal for myself...I have had a few episodes of dumping and now I'm terrified to eat anything but Protein Shakes. I feel fantastic, except for the occasional gas pains. I started walking about 1 mile a day and I get about 6000 steps in a day. So far I'm pleased with my loss, but my hubby has yet to say he can see the difference. Anyone else having that problem? ??

Has anyone moved off of the pureed stage sooner than 2 weeks, either by doctor guidance or just because you felt it was the right thing to do? I ask because I'm only taking in about 300 calories and 20 grams of Protein per day. I feel like it would be healthier to move on to soft foods to get the proper nutrition.

How soon did you start working out? My paperwork states 6 weeks is when I can start. However, I see people working out well before that. I also have been doing a lot of walking when shopping the last few days with my mom. I know it's probably best to wait a while, I'll keep up the walking as I know my body is still healing (still have a little pain with my abdomen). Just wondering how long others waited.

I've really been struggling for the last 2-3 weeks. I had RNY on May 11/15. As of today I am 178 lbs, down from 250 lbs (72 lbs). At 5 & 1/2 months out I feel I should have lost a little more. My weight loss has been quite slow since about the beginning of August. Today I finally came out of a 3 week stall. However, I know that the slowed weight loss is entirely my doing. My appetite has definitely returned and I have been making bad choices quite regularly over the last month or so. I do fairly well during the day, although I have had a slice of pizza more often than I should. However, it's mainly the evenings that are my downfall. After the kids are in b…

I'm 10 weeks post RNY. This week, about 15 minutes after eating (no matter what it is I feel this gurgling in my upper digestive tract, esophagus down to waist. It doesn't hurt and I'm not feeling sick at all, not burping either. It feels like what wheezing in your lungs feels like if you have a cold, but I don't wheeze and its not like it happens when I'm breathing out. I guess I'm worrying that I might be starting a leak somewhere, is this possible? Or is it something like just eating too fast. I'll probably call the dr on Monday, but I feel a little silly....its an odd sensation. Has anyone out there had anything like this before? Ideas? I'd really appreciate your th…

My tummy hurts ???? Everyday at some point, my stomach will really start to hurt, feeling gassy and rumbling. Then before I know it, I'm running to the bathroom w/ watery stool. This goes on for hours! And I'm running to the bathroom 10 times. I'm on a clear liquid diet until Thursday when I start full liquids and protein shakes. I'm so uncomfortable. Is this normal, and is there anything I can do?

I've been on the pre-op diet for a month now. Ever since they scheduled my surgery I've been slacking with my meals. Pretty much haven't been following it all weekend. I feel awful physically of course. And I'm regretting my mistakes. My surgery is next Tuesday. Has anyone else been through this? I really need to try harder.

So I'm on here all the time. I see a lot of post about people "cheating". Here's the thing. I'm one month post op and I've NEVER cheated. I eat 3 times a day. Protein first (usually that's the only thing I eat). Everything has less than 10g of fat, 10 grams of sugar, and I shoot for 15-25g of protein per meal. I know a lot of people who "have sips of wine" or "try taste" of things they shouldn't have. But I don't. I don't know if it's anxiety. I'm terrified of dumping. I don't want to fail this. I've lost 47 pounds and I just want to do this right. BUT everyone says it's ok to have a treat every now an then. Or go out to eat. Or not go to the gym (I work out 5 days a …

I ended up in the hospital last week. It started about 4am and didnt stop. I was in so much pain I was vomiting and balling all night and the next day until i got care at the hospital. The severity of my pain is still incomparable to anything I have ever felt before in my life. It was in my upper belly area. It was slight at first but grew over a while. I had diarrhea all night until I got to the hospital. I normally know what poop pains feel like..or dumping syndrome..but this wasnt moving or going away. I must have been in the bathroom at least 6 times before I went again at the hospital.. I think I threw up about 3 times before again at the hospital. They gave me pain …

As my surgery date approaches, I'm feeling this feeling of mourning the foods I'll never eat again. Like a bowl of cheerios and milk. Or a sandwich. I know this is probably normal but I'm getting really caught up in the downsides and not the upsides. (Weight loss! Self Esteem! Smaller clothes! Better Health!) I know that if it's not on my surgeon's list, I probably won't eat it. I'm with the program. I'm in. But there is still this sadness. So I'm asking for a bit of encouragement. What foods did you come back to? What foods did you find good replacements for? What don't you miss?

Hey I'm looking for gastric bypass buddies in Birmingham UK to maybe meet up with for both support and guidance. I'm 3 weeks post surgery, having a really good recovery no problems drinking plenty and getting my protein as required. If anyone is interested either local or wants to chat online then it would be lovely to talk to people who are on the same Journey. I've not told friends and family about my Surgery and Don't plan to either. ????

I woke up with the most excruciating pain I have ever felt in my life. I instantly knew something was wrong. I immediately went to the emergency room. I was experiencing severe stabbing pain in my lower right quadrant area. After a CT scan it was determined that the inside part of my JP Drain was no longer connected to the top of my stomach but fell into my lower pelvis. I am 8 days post on so they immediately removed my drain and my pain was instantly gone. What an incredible feeling that was to be pain free. I have never heard of this happening and am curious if anyone else has experienced something similar?

I recently just found this product. It's called muscle pharm muscle gel and it's a little pack with 1.62 ounces. It has 0 fat and 0 sugar and 22 grams of protein. I absolutely hate sweets so I thought this would be an excellent way to get in some quick protein without having to sip on several shakes for a long time. Granted I know this won't cover protein for the entire day but it will definitely help. Anyone else heard or tried this product?

I have waited 3 years to have weight loss surgery and at 530 in the morning I will be arriving at the hospital for gastric bypass. It's been quite and whirlwind. I'm so nervous. Not about the surgery or the pain but I'm just anxious and feeling like something is going to go wrong and they won't be able to do the surgery. I know this is crazy but it seems to good to be true? Just ready for my life back!! Anyone else have the unrealistic fears ?

I'm pre-op (Dec14). Since early June, I've lost nearly 25lbs, am exercising regularly, am 100 lbs from my goal weight, have got my sugar under control & dropped 2 of 3 diabetes meds, & am feeling fantastic. However, I have 2 questions/concerns bouncing around in my head. 1) Did you ever have second thoughts prior to the surgery, starting to wonder if THIS time you were ready/able to do it on your own, without major surgery as an intervention? 2) How/when/what did you tell people about having the surgery and/or why you were losing weight so rapidly? Your thoughts on these questions are very much appreciated!

Hi is anyone else having a really hard time losing weight after gallbladder surgery. The first weeks I did lose but my appetite was very low after the surgery. Now I am exercising a lot and haven't been able to lose a lb. 14 months out and about 135 lbs down but have like 20 to go.

I'm hungry, I decide on something and make it. I take a bite and it takes everything in me to swallow. I'm 6 months postop, what the heck is going on? Everything taste bad, the texture is disgusting and as bad as I'd like to eat it's not happening. This has been going on for 2 days! Not to mention I'm nauseous and irritable because I haven't eaten.

So I met with my surgeon for the first time today. He is totally awesome and I feel that he will be the right fit to help me achieve my weight loss goals. The only problem that I have is that the office recommended that I have the RNY over the lap band (which is what was originally recommended by my endocrinologist). But with my BMI being at 51.48 they said the band would not be ideal for me. So now I am a little confused on what to do. I know that the office will only do the procedue that I want but I am just a little wary of having it. Anything anyone can do to put my mind at ease would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to do an RNY I am just a little aprehensive…

I'm not sure what it is, I got my phone call to schedule about 45 minutes ago. Then I instantly became terrified and super nervous. Surgery is not until November 6. Please tell me that I'm not the only one whose first emotion wasn't excitement. I've had excitement throughout this entire process but it got sooooo real today. Don't get me wrong. I am so beyond excited about the outcome but reading some things on here, Iron deficiency, bones becoming brittle has me worried again. I know that if I take my Vitamins religiously that I should be fine and obviously the potential risks outweigh the potential heart attack/stroke/diabetes which is in my very near future I'm sure. …

Seems like as I get nearer to my surgery date on the 26th, the more of a roller coaster ride I feel like I am on! Things people say to me I am more sensitive too, especially my wife. I'm not sleeping well either. Since they had me stop taking nsaids I've been wracked with pain. I've been taking Naproxen for 10 plus years for arthritis and now to just stop. And I've made some stupid decisions with money as well. As i sit here and think about things it makes me wonder what is in store for me after surgery. The first month restrictions are pretty similar to prep diet it appears, so i am wondering if this emotional roller coaster will continue. Can anyone share their experien…
