I have a hard time with the shakes. Yes, I have tried several. I know they are good but I am burned out. I found protein water. I do drink sometimes. Is there a pill form of protein ????, or non flavored protein I can maybe put drops in my water? I also found those protein shots that are 3.6 ounces and have 42 grams of protein but my tummy felt upset. I do need help with protein.

Hello, everyone. This is my first post. I'm aware that stalls occur, however, I am just starting my seventh week after gastric bypass surgery on October 20, 2015. Two weeks after my surgery I stalled at 352 pounds. It took me two weeks to lose down to 348, and today when I got on the scale I weigh 351. So basically for the last month what little I've lost i've gained right back. I've been monitoring my food intake and I have not eaten more than 800 cal each day. I've gotten in most of my protein but not close to all of my water. Could you please analyze what's going on here? I started my liquid diet pre-op on October 8 at 385 pounds and I was 372 pounds on my surgery da…

January 27th! This is tentative of course on insurance approval but the surgeon doesn't see any issues with that so he went ahead and scheduled. I'm just a ball of emotions right now as a result. I was checking out my company's website regarding FMLA, then ended up on the website for the insurance company that handles it and I submitted, then I read after on my company's website "Do not submit for than 30 days before the event" AHHH! Seriously screwed up, I hope it doesn't ruin everything! And my company's website says they coordinate your short term disability with the FMLA. Did I ruin everything?! Geez. Told you, ball of emotions.

Hi All, I am having conversion surgery (band to bypass) next week in the UK and I am so nervous. Can anyone tell me how the recovery differed between the two surgeries? Also what was the pain like? I am a new Mum and think this is making me panic as I was not like this with my 2 previous band surgeries. Thanks xx

Background: I'm 30. My surgery is next Friday (12/18/15), I'm on the pre op diet and doing just fine. I'm 5'6. Highest weight was 265, currently 250. I'm going through the pre op jitters, I think. I've researched this for so long and have been 100% sure of this but I'm suddenly super nervous! "What if's" are killing me!! So, those who are on the other side, it's totally worth it, right?? All the recovery, all the changes?? I know something's got to give. I can't continue on slowly marching up the scale. But change is scary! My stomach and intestines have been in this configuration for 30 years now! I never thought I would be scared of changing from someone hug…

A lot of posts that I have read talk about pre-op diets. My doctor has said nothing about any kind of special diet that I should be following in the weeks leading up to my January 12th RNY. My next appointment isn't until January 7th. Do some doctors just not require a special diet ahead of time?

Curious to know how surgery has changed your social life? I have become so secluded (self imposed) since gaining 100 lbs over the past five years. I am confident that this surgery will bring back my confidence and eliminate embarrassment I've felt when out in public. I used to love being around people and am so excited to get a new lease on life!

I just don't get it. I can't figure out my new stomach at all. Most days I throw up what very little I eat.. It doesn't matter what it is. We haven't been able to figure out the triggers.. But today.. It's like I couldn't get enough food.. I ate the most food I have eaten since my conversion surgery today. 1 entire protein bar.. Salad with chicken.. Another antipasto salad.. 3 bites of pizza... And a ton of water! Granted I didn't eat an entire salad but I didn't puke either... Anyone else have these days????

I am about to embark on the pre-op diet, appointments, etc. and I am starting to freak out. I am having my lapband removed and gastric bypass on 1/12. This evening I started my online courses and started to panic. They outline all the complications, vitamins (3x daily), nutrition requirements, etc. and it just is starting to feel too much. My doctor has me on a 3 week liquid diet prior to surgery. I will miss Christmas and I am going on vacation. Vacation was planned before the surgery, pre-paid, and I didn't know that was when I would be on the liquid diet. What do you do when you start to feel overwhelmed? I could really use advice. I want to do this but I have a bad tr…

Been doing esophageal Manometry test and barium swallow because my flap is weakened. Dr saying possible gastric bypass to relieve syptoms. I don't know enough about if this is the right choice. Please tell me what uou can and can't have to eat. Also, I'm reading about this dumping. How bad is this and is this going to consume my life.

Gareth J. Hollands from the University of Cambridge, U.K., and colleagues, examined data from 72 studies (meta-analysis) that compared at least two groups with respect to their choices of food, alcohol, or tobacco packaging, portion size and tableware (dishes and glasses) size on food consumption. They concluded "successfully reduce the size, availability and appeal of larger-sized portions, packages, individual units and tableware can contribute to meaningful reductions in the quantities of food (including non-alcoholic beverages) people select and consume in the immediate and short term.” http://acsh.org/2015/09/change-your-setting-to-help-you-eat-less/ In other w…

Hi folks, this forum has been terrific for me and I'm sure for many others. I just so appreciate how thoughtfully and quickly people responded to my concerns, thank you all. Well just a few hours ago the doctor's nurse called and the date is set, Wed February 10th 2016; it's suddenly very, very real! I'm very excited and pleased, but a bit nervous too. They had turned me down a few months ago because I hadn't held up my end of things, I hadn't lost enough weight, had an A1C of 11.5 and too fatty a liver. Well I turned all that around and so now we're set. I do fear that my underlying mental illness, the Bipolar situation, that made me a fat guy and before that…

I'm considering the surgery for many reasons. From anyone's point of view what do you believe pros and cons are of having gastric bypass surgery? Thank You in Advance for any answers

Has anybody had or are having this problem. I'm not meeting any of my goals and I'm not loosing any weight and I k ow it's because I'm not meeting the protein goal everyday. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? I'm one week out and I have the worst pain lower left of my belly button. It's a searing pain that feels like something is ripping. I normally tolerate pain very well, but once this pain catches it stops me in my tracks. If so how long did this lay before you felt better??? Everything else is perfect.

I have told only a very few people that I was considering surgery. So far only my husband and employer knows. When I mentioned it to my mom, she kind of freaked out and said how terrible my life would be after surgery and how I wouldn't be able to ever eat normal again, yada yada, complications, etc. Therefore, I'm hesitant to tell her it is going to happen in January. If I don't tell her, she'll of course notice at the next family gathering when I'm eating only a very small amount. We live in the same town and talk almost daily, so she'd notice if I was in the hospital for a few days. Just wondering if anyone else has tips on this.

Alright I am 10 days post-op and on the Phase II/Puree diet but have not figured out what my full signal is (if any). Currently, I am just eating the starting amount (typically 2 TBS) and have not pushed it. My question to everyone is, what is your full signal and where does it present? (IE: Slight pressure in the chest) I am trying to figure out if I am getting the signal and just haven't made the connection yet or have not hit the magic quantity yet. Thanks!

Hi Everyone! I had my surgery in May 2015. I have lost close to 100#. I have a very happy life, and do not want it to change. That being said, I am 2000 miles from home, with no friends. I am married, however, my hubby isn’t able emotionally to deal with the new me. I am alone most weekends and holidays. I know that since I have lost the weight, I have been craving for someone to pay attention to me, to be attracted to me, to think I am “normal”. That feeling has become overwhelming. All the people I am around now don’t know the fat girl, only the way I am now, they have no idea where I came from. I know that most of you that have lost lots have been through th…

So today I got laid off. Makes no sense but supposedly purely a financial decision. They're paying a severance. I'll be fine. 47 years old and first time I have lost a job. BUT I am trying to focus on a few positive things 1) I had insurance pay for my surgery that I might not have had at another company; 2) 100 pounds ago I wouldn't have felt too confident going out to look for a job 3) a little time off might not be a bad thing and 4) so far I haven't turned to food or alcohol as I normally would have and don't have the capacity or ability to do that anyway. Life goes on. This could be worse. It was a good ride while it lasted....

I just wrote a reply on another thread about this. I was born in 1950. Had the RNY in 2003. I lost a lot of weight (too much, at one point-) but have had quite a few problems such as kidney stones and osteoporosis. And yes, I have followed the proper diet and taken the right supplements. Don't want to scare anyone, but apparently Im not all that unusual. I have mixed emotions as to whether I should have had this surgery. But I think I would have died if I hadn't. Its a puzzle. Anyone else out there who has suffered some of the severe post op problems like me????? How do you cope, manage, etc.??? Thanks.

So I am less than 24 hours away from my surgery! I have been on my liquid diet for 2 weeks and 6 LONG days but it has been fun as i have lost on average 1-2 pounds a day for a total of 25 pounds! The diet is a b***h but worth it if it lessens the risk of complications from surgery. I have decided to document everything and start a YouTube channel since it helped me make the leap of faith and start this journey. I will be posting weekly so people can see the good and bad of surgery and hopefully help others decide if surgery is good for them. My YouTube channel is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx-z0jZVXX6Atd6EscOwxdw if you would like to see my progress. That bein…

Away in a hotel all week and being treated to lunch and dinner by new boss. Hotel Breakfast is easy as they have scrambled eggs and fruit options ???????????????? Salads are always the best option ( with grilled chicken) for lunch. Was doing so well until boss decided to take a quick lunch at Chick Filet.... Being from NY , he insisted I "had to try the signature sandwich" I told him I didn't eat bread or fried food but he didn't understand and said I just needed to " try one bite" I ordered the sandwich with a side of fruit - terrified I had a bite. Mind you, I haven't eaten bread or fried food or any type of fast food ( among other things) since surgery exactly 7 mont…

I am 7 months post op. My sw was 324, and after today's scale check I was 199. I have lost 125 lbs. I no longer have a 2 or 3 in front of my weight. I have won a battle that I thought I'd never come close to winning. I'm not done, but if I didn't lose another pound after today that would be ok too! I have a lot to be thankful for!

I really don't know anyone who has been through gastric bypass rny and I have so many questions about my pre-approval process. I have a patient advocate but I'm so nervous and fearful of not being approved. I really don't know what to do. I have a BMI of 40.5 and my 90 day diet will be up on January 23, I have Cigna health ins and they do cover bariatric with a 40 BMI and a 90 day med supervised diet. My physician does not normally do these things he refers patients to a nutrionist however I could not see a nutrionist bc they kept cancelling due to the holiday season. During my 90 days there has been no blood work no tests to see if I am diabetic or anything...just tal…

So I have just mailed my paperwork to the surgeon to get a first appointment. I was all for the sleeve and had got myself so excited to get the process going. Then I find the forum group regarding complications. Read those and saw where some sleevers had to get bypass. Then I read bypass forums and look into this surgery. Then I see where bypass patients look into reversals. I am 48 yrs old, 350 lbs and bmi around 60. I'm tired of being on 4 bp meds. Tried every diet out there. I get excited, then read some of these and scare myself. Even tho people have problems, are there any regrets in doing surgery?

I am so happy to say my surgery is all done. It took longer than expected as my band was quite complicated to remove but that is now out and bypass performed. I am leaving hospital this morning (I have been in since early Thurs) and home to rest on the sofa. I am feeling quite sore but mostly where the port had to be dug out ???? I am on my feet and walking though xx
