What is your full signal?

Recommended Posts

Alright I am 10 days post-op and on the Phase II/Puree diet but have not figured out what my full signal is (if any). Currently, I am just eating the starting amount (typically 2 TBS) and have not pushed it.

My question to everyone is, what is your full signal and where does it present? (IE: Slight pressure in the chest) I am trying to figure out if I am getting the signal and just haven't made the connection yet or have not hit the magic quantity yet.

Thanks!

When I am at my full point, my stomach will make noises and tighten. If I eat anything else once it happens, I don't feel well and my stomach hurts

I get the hiccups and the bloaty/gassy feeling that would usually have meant I had a big burp.

I can't burp when I'm full, means there is no room/air left in my pouch to try to be able to produce a burp.

I get to a point where eating any more is VERY unappealing. I just get full and have no interest in eating. It is a very strong feeling, nothing like I've ever felt. It really prevents me from overeating.

Mine is kinda like another bite is going towards my mouth and I think Nope! I'm done. Then I notice that it feels like food is all the way to the middle of my esophagus, but it's not. It's really weird finding that place of full after surgery.

Thanks, guys! I'm two weeks pre-surgery,and it really helps to hear other's viewpoints based on their experiences. Is hiccups a common thing post-surgery? (and burping a lot?)

I'm 4 weeks post op. During the first 2-3 weeks I didn't have that full feeling. I just used my timer to eat, whatever stage I was on, my nutritionist gave me a time of how long I should be eating at each stage.

Currently, I still use the timer; however, I get a lil throat burp when I'm done. Not to be so graphic.

I'm 10 days post RNY, and I currently have no full-signal either. My friends who have the sleeve said it took a month or two to get the full feeling. I can't wait. I am eating very slowly and just kind of wait for the burp, followed by the hiccups. I guess it is all of the learning process.

While on the Puree/liquid diet I didnt really have a full feeling like I was used to before RNY. I was able to consume much more than what Nutrition and the surgeon stated. That was the Puree/Liquid only!!! Let me tell you once the real food comes back even just the soft It is a different story entirely. The FULL feeling is so different than what I was used to. to me it is a Tightness. Or a fullness but Different. I dont realy know how to explain it. Weird thing was I was able to consume 8 - 12oz of creamed Soup or a can of V-8 no problem. I have no problem with fluids whatsoever. But I cannot handle much more than 1/4 cup of food... It is so weird. You will know..

When I reach the full sensation it is a very subtle spasm in my chest about where my pouch meets the esophagus. One more bite and it will be pain. It's so subtle that I am very cautious not to go too fast or get distracted while eating because feeling it once is enough. In general, I get the sensation at about the 1 1/2-2oz mark depending on the food and density.(I'm in the puréed stage).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
