    Convincing spouse

Someone else suggested he attends the consultation with you. I highly agree. I also think he should attend the seminar with you. I'm not sure if this is offered most areas, but my fiancé and I attended the seminar first and then the consultation. By attending both of these he was fully aware and educated. I would also read some posts with him. He really enjoyed the posts because it was really life experiences not just research. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

    Dumping question...

Unfortunately, I can't almost anything. I can eat rice; although I try not to. If I do, it may be a teaspoon or two of brown rice. I can't do any Pasta, when I tried I didn't dump....it just hurts in my pouch. If u really want pasta, I use brown rice pasta. It's delicious, I use normally for my daughter because of her food allergies. If I have something with too much sugar, I'll get a rapid heartbeat. That'll last for about 5 minutes or so. Most often I stick to my Protein and veggies. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Post Bypass Surgery foods I can eat

I'm 6 months out and my taste buds didn't change very much. I can still anything I want, which I wish wasn't so. I can eat scrambled eggs any longer ; only hard boiled eggs or egg whites. I still have a taste for fried foods, fast food places, but soon after I think about it I get nauseous thinking about what I could eat. I do have pizza every once in a while, but I'll do paper thin crust. I love ice cream, sometimes 1x or 2x a week I have a tablespoons of Edys MO sugar added butter pecan ice cream. I can eat fries, but they all taste disgusting now. I also eat a lot of chicken. I've developed taste buds for Beans (black beans and refried beans). I wasn't much of a fan before surgery. However I try to get as much Protein as I can. I feel like my sweet tooth has increased which isn't good. It doesn't bother to eat anything sweet, except I notice my heart beats a lil faster sometimes. If I eat a burger, I can do a slider with no bun. A can a little less than half a burger if it's not a slider. I try to cook many veggies on Sundays so I can eat throughout the week. I'm allergic to raw veggies so a salad is out of the question. Therefore cooked veggies in the fridge are perfect for me to eat with some sort of chicken dish. Chicken tacos and chicken meatballs are my favorite go tos. Whole Foods sales a variety of chicken meatballs and they're delicious.... Sweet Asian, Buffalo Chicken, Parmasean and Pesto, and Teriyaki flavored for all, no sauce, and they're not frozen. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital

My journey has been amazing! I wish I did this years ago. I had my surgery Oct 12th. Ive lost 63 lbs. as of today. I have never felt better. I can walk up stairs without being winded. I can be at work all day and not feel like I can't make it throughout the day without being so exhausted. I want to do more active things. More importantly I don't think about food all day. I've thought about getting a sew in weave; however my stylist, thought it was cause too much tension in my hair. I'll take the advice with upping my Protein. Im already taking Biotin everyday. I'll take any other advice on how to improve my hair. I'm pretty sure I'll be cutting it soon. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

  15. I had RNY on October 12th. I haven't had a drink in so long. It would be nice to have some sort of a cocktail. I would love to hear from anyone. How soon did you have your 1st drink after your surgery? What did you have to drink or what might you suggest? I use to drink tequila.... 180 0 Gold with diet lime Coke, but I gave up all soda, then I began to mix it with Minute Maid light lemonade. Now....absolutely nothing!

Post sleeve comfort foods -roll call!

Yo, ProYo! JohnZ54, is there any soy in this treat? I am EXTREMELY allergic to soy and the damn stuff is in just about everything. Thank YOU. Valentina Hello, it's a lil off topic but what is your reaction if you consume soy? My 8 year daughter is also extremely allergic to soy. She has vomiting and diarrhea. On another note, Healthy Choice also has a Greek frozen yogurt. I've found in the frozen foods section with the Healthy Choice section.

When in is it safe to have a drink?

Wow 3 months, I'd be too scared to do that. I'm coming up on my 3 months. I was hoping somewhere along my spring break which is in March or April. I'm also getting married in June. Thanks!

    Today's my day

Good luck to you! Congratulations on your decision to have a new beginning. Enjoy this journey. Please keep us updated on your recovery. BTW good luck to as well for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. You can do this! Regarding the family and friends that choose not to talk about it. For the most part many of friends and family were and are extremely supportive. I have a couple of friends that are overweight who choose not to ask about my progess or even checked on me after my surgery. It's ok, I'm not the one to judge. I walked those shoes for a very long time....almost 20 years. This my choice to change my life, definitely didn't do it to persuade others. However, I would love to be able to encourage and support anyone who is thinking about having the surgery or who has had the surgery. My surgery was on 10/12. At 5'0 even, my HW 248, SW 236, CW 207 and I'm enjoying everyday of my journey.

    Help

1st week I took a week off for the entire day, 2nd week I only did half days (special ed teacher) Pain wasn't bad at all, just more uncomfortable and I do not do pain well. No pain meds once at home. One dose of Tylenol at home on the day of discharge (the next day after surgery). The pain you may experience is the gas pain. OH MY WORD!!!!!! I walked miles in home to help relieve the gas pain. I took Gas X strips, it moved the gas, but no release for 2 days. You can walk about a week later, no strength training for 4 weeks (no heavy lifting). That was tough, I waited almost 2 weeks. We couldn't wait any longer. I just told people, too many women I work with. I didn't want rumors to start. Suggestions: I used a recliner chair for sitting and sleeping. It made it much easier to get up and down. I also purchased a shower chair. Last thing you want to do is fall, especially in the shower. Good luck to you. It was easier have RNY than having a baby. ????
