Are there any websites/stores you can recommend where I can purchase samples of a variety of Protein? I found the Syntrax Nexctar one on the BP Store, but it's currently out of stock. I'm looking for unjury, Isopure - anything, really. Anyone know of any place where I can purchase these?

I would like to hear some feedback from any RNY-ers who are 10+ years post-op. Can you tell me how you are feeling, specifically with regards to Malabsorption given the vitamin regiment? Despite taking all the required supplements have you experienced any loss of teeth? Bone density issues? Other issues? I am planning on an RNY in the next two months, and would like a realistic picture of long term experiences one may have, even with adhering to the vitamin regiment. I get that transfusions may be required based on low absorption of iron, which I hear is common. I am curious to know though over time, what does the overall big picture look like /feel like and do you regret…

I just had my surgery on the 9th. I had the RNY, but mine was open. Did the rest of you have yours done laparoscopically? With the RNY, they repaired a hiatal hernia repair and removed my gall bladder. I feel like the pain won't ever stop.

  10. Hey all! I've seen this answered in a lot of different ways online, and different recommendations as far as how many weeks it takes to get back to work after surgery.... Here's my question: If I work in a very sedentary office job, where I self-manage my time on my projects with very little moving around, basically just sitting on my buns all day in front of a computer, how long realistically until I could come back to work? My mother had the surgery and said she felt better and was up and moving around after a few days, and I really can't take much time off of work, so I'm hoping that's the case for me. I am relatively healthy, only just barely at 40 BMI, and 32 years…

  11. I am thrilled to be down 160 lbs., but I have an embarrassing problem. My butt makes me uncomfortable any time I'm sitting. It is caused by the loose skin I'm sitting on top of and I am always shifting to get more comfortable. Does anyone else have this issue and is there any trick or shape wear out there to make this darn butt of mine behave????

  13. Just a little worried that after 6 days post op that I am feeling "too good" in some ways. The first 3 days I wasn't able to hardly eat or drink anything. Today I was able to drink 3/4 of a protein shake this morning, a 3/4 of a jello early afternoon and 3/4 of a sugar free pudding late this afternoon. I feel like my intake is to much for this early on and worried I won't lose weight. When I eat these items. I don't feel overly full, but satisfied. I don't feel hunger so I'm unsure when to eat and if I'm eating to much! Help!

Well, to say the least I am unhappy. My depression has gone through the roof. I was 14 pounds of my goal weight and was feeling great. Now I have slipped over the last 6 months and have moved 36 away from my goal weight. I know when I get depressed, I drink more coffee with very little natural sugars. I can't find a meal plan that works and I don't feel full when I over eat. The only thing I dump with is sweets, except for gum balls. I want their to be a specific dietian that caters to Sleeve to RNY. Part of my surgical team is to meet with a nutritionist, I have done that twice and all get is hand outs. I want a shopping list, how to prepaid and nutritional values.…

  20. I am 8 months out from bypass. I really don't measure my food anymore...I just let my pouch tell me when I'm done. I was just wondering if that is a no no. I worry that maybe I'm eating too much. I'm still losing...although I'm losing pretty slowly, but I think that's normal at this point, right? I read comments about what other people are eating in a day, and it seems like they are eating so much less than me.

I have heard that the recovery will not be too horrible and my doctor said I should be fine. I am still concerned. How did you all feel three weeks post-op? Well enough to sit in a class room for half the day?

Please let me know what any of you did to help get through the first few days, what helps with the pain the most? Is it walking, Water, medicine? Please let me know what got any of you through

Hello. I had gastric bypass on 4/29/15 and my starting weight was 218. As of today I am 118 and three pounds away from my official goal of 115. I'm curious to know if this is typical or should I be concerned? I was 105 in high school in 2005 and I still looked healthy but I have read of cases where people have lost too much and looked sickly etc. Thanks for any feedback.

Hi All! My surgery is in 1 week. I've lost 8 pounds on the liver - reduction diet so far. I realized that my Weight Watchers scale is under my bathroom vanity. In the house I sold 9 months ago, 2000 miles away. So, I need a new one. ☺ I am wondering if I should get another WW scale, or if anyone here has another brand that is reliable. I've been comparing scales at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Amazon, but none really jump out. Any feedback is appreciated! I would like a body analysis scale, that shows BMI estimates and body fat, water, etc.

I'm almost 5 weeks out from RNY and I'm craving fresh fruits and vegetables so so bad it's an obsession. Before surgery, I was worried that I'd be craving sugar or baked goods, bread, pizza (junk) basically, but no -WAY! I'm spending literally hours of my day obsessing over crunchy fresh fruits and veggies. Everything I have to eat is cooked to death soft meats or Protein shakes and cheese. I'm so tired of animal products and lack of texture. How in the world do you make it through to 12 weeks when you can have raw crunchy veggies again?! I'm in need of some green peppers (crunchy) Carrots (crunchy) cucumbers (crunchy) even tomatoes full of juice and seeds just with some …

  29. Started by Jennifree,

I am reading through the handbook my surgeon provided, and it cautions that post surgery, tomatoes may cause distress. I love tomatoes, and hope this does not happen. My birthday is tomorrow, and I was given a Miracle Gro Aerogarden with cherry tomato pods to grow indoors. I realize that I can't have any now, as I'm on the liver - reduction diet til my surgery on Tuesday, but my husband loves salad with tomatoes. Has anyone had trouble with tomatoes a few months after their bypass surgery?

So I could eat all the time. Yep I'm up at 2:30 am eating (drinking half a protein shake). Every 3-4 hours I'm eating, the hunger is unbearable. I'm still losing just eating and drinking like it's going out of style. I'm watching my diet very closely, often opting for carrots with a piece of cheese or a bowl of salad with some tuna. I'm close to 10 months out and this is by far the most concerning event I have been through. My intake hasn't increased just my frequency in hunger. Knock on wood I'm not craving a little Debbie snack cake, just hungry.

  33. Dr. Yoosoo Chang from the Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea, and colleagues, followed the health of over 62,000 healthy young and middle-aged men and women. There were about 900 cases of chronic kidney disease (CKD) that developed in the participants over the course of the study. And participants with higher BMIs were more likely to develop the condition than others. In particular, obese participants had 6.7 cases of CKD per 1,000 persons, while the incidence in overweight people was only 3.5 cases per 1,000. The situation was even worse for obese individuals 40 years and older — 19 cases per 1,000. http://acsh.org/2016/02/10/healthy-obes…

I have fallen back into some old habits like eating bread and sweets. I could really use a mentor that has been post op for several years. I would love to have someone to help hold me accountable and help me get back on track. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am 11 months out and 5 lbs short of goal. I had given up on any regrowth of my hair. My loss was severe with the look of male pattern baldness in front. Well, I am happy to announce that it is growing back and growning back with vigor. I am taking prenatal vitamins and biotin with sucess but it took all this time to see results. For those of you who have had the same experience, don't loose faith. It will grow back for sure it will. Give it time... Then you can smile at your beautiful hair and nails and the beautiful, healthy body you now have at any time in your journey. God bless your travels to good health.

I'm nervous about the pain part because it seems sometimes regular methods didn't help when I was hospitalized this past Aug and they ended up putting me on Diloded which helped. It was traumatising the pain I was in. So just super nervous about that part!!!

Hi Everyone! I have been browsing through all the food items sold in the store on this site, and am wondering if anyone has tried any of the soups? My surgery is on the 16th, and I know that soups will be an option, within a few weeks. I saw that there is a variety pack with soups without any solids, which is what I'd need. Also saw there is Sloppy Joe for months later, and pasta. Any input on anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Really uncomfortable topic, but here it goes: I wish my plumbing were more predictable. I am three weeks out from surgery and was lucky to have a daily BM, there was one or two days without one but smooth-move-tea helped greatly. Today I had an egg and a piece of lean ham for breakfast and grilled chicken for lunch and a Greek yoghurt too. I moistened the chicken when mincing it with mayo. Can that be the trigger for the runs or could it be the artificial sugar sweeteners in the Dannon Light and Fit yoghurt?? Any input is appreciated. Thank you!
