Im 9 weeks post op today. I randomly get really sharp stomach cramps.I've tried to narrow it down to what I'm doing/eating/drinking when it happens. Sometimes it happens after i take a sip of something but never when I'm eating. And usually it happens when I'm at work just sitting at my desk. There's no warning signs and its completly random but the intense pain is almost debilitating. Any ideas? Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

  3. I had my by-pass on August 18, 2015. Everything went great, no problems whatsoever. Lost 53 lbs, what I had to lose, went off most meds, feeling great and walking up to 2hrs a day in the hills. Then, bam, ended up in the hospital for 13 days, 5 of which in ICU, diagnosed with Pancreatitis, I do not want to scare anyone. But, I would like to know if ANYONE here has heard of that being caused by the Roux-en-Y. They could not do all the tests on me because of the by-pass. I will be seeing my surgeon in May. Maybe someone in the medical field on here, can tell me if they have heard of this. I am home now, still in pain, recovering slowly. Never thought I would s…

  5. I am a 41 year old mom of 3 boys (and a puppy!) sharing my life with my wonderful husband of over 15 years. I've struggled with weight for most of my life and have tried all the usual weight loss suspects, only to not lose much or quickly gain back any weight I had lost. I only recently "gave up" losing weight, 6 years post my youngest son's day of birth. Out of desperation, I began researching bariatric surgery, something I had never before considered. I made a decision to pursue weight loss surgery and have never thought twice… even when I discovered my insurance would not pay. I am now a self-pay, pre-surgery patient scheduled for 10/8. I struggle with my self-pay…

Hi everyone or anyone, Ha Ha I'm Kat and I had my surgery 23 days ago. I'm starting to feel better now. Still can't lie flat, having a hard time getting in fluids but doing well with Protein because of the shakes. I am really not crazy about drinking a meal but food just doesn't sit right yet. I was just curious to learn more about anyone else's experiences. If you respond, then maybe I can check out your page as well and read there too! I want to be a success story one day and just want to see how you all are doing it! Thanks in advance!

  7. So, in two weeks I will meet with my NUT for the sixth, and final, time. I have not lost any weight. She says that I am doing fine making small changes and getting ready for surgery. However, the bottom line is that my eating has not really changed. My question is, will I be successful AFTER surgery, if I haven't been totally committed BEFORE surgery?

  10. Okay bear with me... I had GBP RNY one week ago. I've been doing great, feeling great, recovering great. Even with liquids, it was hard at first but now pretty easy to make goal. Today my doc put me onto phase 2, puréed. I was beyond ecstatic and went home to make a recipe I had seen online, a baked ricotta and marinara mush thing. My doc had warned me to take it slow with puréed and that it would take a while for my pouch to adjust. She said to start with 2 tbsp this week, advance to 3 the next and then do 4 max for the remainder. Well with this first puréed deliciousness, it was like absolutely no problem to do 2 tbsp, and I curiously even tried to see if adding anoth…

I had my revision 7 weeks ago. All is well except I have ungodly flatulence. It is a new development (last 4 days) and I had just begun eating broccoli and other cooked veggies. I also eat cheese daily. And wheat thins... It is so bad my bum is burning. I read charcoal and GASX might help? Anyone else have this curse? Any ideas on how to treat it? Thanks.

  14. I'm so depressed! Don't I deserve a 2nd chance? The removal of my band was approved but the bypass denied. So if I have the band removed, I'll gain a bunch of weight and then where will I be? I've already gained 11 pounds just since all of the Fluid was removed from the band. I am beside myself. I don't have the kind of money to self-pay. Should I fight this? I'm told I need 6 month weight loss documentation -- but the only thing I have are invoices from Nutrisystem where I tried them for 2 months approximately 6 months ago. Will that qualify? I just don't know what to do. Any advice?

He then asked me what I was doing for relaxation. Blank stare, felt like I was just handed a pop quiz. He stressed the importance of not over doing things and trying to 'conquer the world one pound at a time. ' he cautioned me about push, push, pushing to do more and more; cause life will inevitably throw us a curve ball and we need to be able to balance those curve balls and activity and diet etc. basically the journey can't take over your life, because your life is well, your life. 17. Looking back to when I had my gastric bypass surgery in 2003, I don’t believe that my bariatric surgeon really discussed the gastric bypass pouch rules or stressed their importance with me. I recall him saying, “I do the surgery. The rest is up to you.” So, I am very glad that I came across the “Pouch Rules for Dummies” published free online. The “Dummies” version of the pouch rules was adopted from an original article written by Dr. Edward E. Mason, the “father of obesity surgery.” It is well-worth your time to read and follow these rules. They should be an intricate part of your bariatric lifestyle so as to achieve permanent weight loss. In fact, it is suggested that …

VitaFiber IMO (isomalto-oligosaccharide) and FiberYum syrups and powders are now available at reasonable prices thru Amazon. Have any of you tried these products? Did they upset your stomach? Although I'm being careful to avoid sweet foods, there are just some things that need a little sweetening! So far I have tried and been unable to tolerate ANY sugar alcohols and sucralose (Splenda), which are in virtually every "sugar free" product out there -- I can't even chew a piece of sugar-free gum without stomach upset. Then there's stevia, which tastes so bad it makes me gag. Aspartame is ok but it's hard to find in products other than sodas. Plus inulin, another Fib…

The numbness is only affecting the front of my body, not the back. Yet. All my blood tests have came back fine, so that rules out vitamin deficiencies. Also had a CT scan of my head, which was normal. I'm starting to wonder if it's surgery reated, but really hoping it's not. Anyone else experience something similiar after surgery?
