My name is Jacquelyn and I am 60 years young.  I am a native of Atlanta, Georgia, graduate in 1973; I know that might seem like dinosaur years to some, but I never stop dreaming for a better self. I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 8, my career of choice is real estate.

I never thought about any kind of weight loss surgery until recently.  I went for my regular check up last year and my doctor ask me what are we going to do about this weight, she continue to say you are one step from diabetes. As we say; something had to scarce me strength.  Not that I did't think to myself, I wanted to lose weight, because I had failed at it so many times, just to list a few; Curves, 6 week Body makeover, The JJ Virgin Diet, Gluten Free Diet, Quick Weight Loss, The Fat Smash Diet, I can't even remember the number of diet pills I have taken over the years. Then we had the fat revolution was in, so I got comfort with my fat, but deep down hated my body.  What ever get you thorough the day, was my attitude.  After thinking seriously about my health; I decided to go to a Bariatric Class in Nov/Dec 2014, that class put things in prospective for me. I had to change my way of thinking. Yes I was scared; but I am more afraid of having heath issues.

After attending the class; I made appointments with nutritionist, behavioral health specialist, research, set some goals and reading everything I can find about Bariatric Surgery(that's how I found BariatricPal). I don't like to think of good or bad parts, just changes that would challenges me.

To name a few:
chewing slow - I am a fast eater small amount amount of water at a time - I literally take a 8 oz and drink in one mouth full. stop caffeine - a cup a day, it's my life line. measuring foods - no comments Yes; I would love to see the new smaller me, better health is far more important to me.
