A space for women. Weight loss surgery, health, body changes, or whatever else is on your mind.

So, is there anything you have ever wanted to buy but thought you were too fat to wear? Or that you were afraid to wear (maybe you were always one of those "If I wear all black no one will notice me" girls?) Post a picture of yourself in something you thought you could never wear, or an item you want to buy when you hit a goal. I'm about 18 lbs from being below 200 lbs. So I've decided that when I get below 200 lbs I am going to treat myself to this Kensie dress from Macy's.

Hello! I am about 3 weeks out from my sleeve surgery and I keep having this fear that it's simply not going to work on me and I'm going to be fat the rest of my life - does anyone else feel this way? I mean, I am following all my doc's and nutrition guidelines and am exercising so there is no rational basis for my fear, except that, on a whim, I got on the scale a few days after a weigh-in at my doc's office and it gave me 3 different results, all were heavier than my previous results a few days before. It really kind of sent me into a tailspin. I mean, what if I just start gaining weight? Please tell me someone else has had this fear! Thank you!

So this morning I'm getting dressed and pull on my sports bra and undies. Something didn't quite look right in the mirror and I realized I had put my bra on backwards....and it fit fine! Thats how pitifully tiny my boobies are now. I literally laughed out loud and flipped it around the right way. But I don't think that's what they meant by "reversible".

Hello! I'm 20.. I have had my boyfriend for 5 years. He has never really seen me fully naked standing up with the light on etc. I am 3 days post-op, and I was wondering if this ever gets better. I am young and I just don't want to spend the rest of my life so scared of my body. Also I am curious about excess skin. I have been told since I am young that my skin is more likely to not hang but that's not guaranteed. If my skin does hang, what can I do to fix that? Does lipo fix that or what? I know I am getting way ahead of myself but I guess I'm just curious and I've never found someone to talk to about all of this. Thanks

Well, now that I'm down about 60 lbs. it was time to replace my old lingerie with new, more appropriately sized lingerie. The "girls" just were not happy hanging out in the old stuff, so I went shopping yesterday after work and got re-fitted for a new bra. The style I had been wearing for 2-3 years is no longer available so I had to find a new style. It never fails, find a style of something that you love and that is working for you and they always discontinue it sooner or later. Same with make-up, nail polish colors, Bath and Body Works scents. Can you relate?? Anyway, I'm very pleased with my new purchases, and so are the "girls." Next shopping trip will probab…

Hello ladies, So I had my surgery on the 9th of this month and I just got my period yesterday, but it's weird. The blood is a dark brown, kind of like the blood at the end of a period, and it's still that way today. The next part may be too TMI for some: anyway, I had a blood clot that was a normal size but it was very dark as well and kind of shriveled looking? It was odd. Nothing hurts or anything and I called my weight loss doctor who said it sounds normal, but if any symptoms come up to call my ob/gyn, but it's kind of creeping me out and I wanted to know if anyone has had anything similar. I was diagnosed with PCOS a while before surgery so I don't know if it'…

So, being fairly ignorant about such stuff, here's a question for the ladies: I am 5'5", now at 179lbs, and CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME find things to fit. What to do? I am travelling in a month's time, and am stuck in that "in-between-world" (also known as never-never land) of plus sizes and misses sizes. I don't think I'll lose more than 5lbs in that month, as I am slowly losing at 1-2lbs per week. I really don't want to invest a lot of $$ right now, only to end up giving those clothes away. Any suggestions for clothing styles and brands that carry those styles would be much appreciated. The climate to where I am going is central Minnesota, where ANY weather can happen i…

So we all talked about how great it is being skinnier and healthier, or at least being on the way to a healthier life. We all know the benefits and at the end of the day we just want to be healthy. I am very happy I decided to get the RNY. I am losing steadily and I enjoy the journey, I cherish every pound I lose, and I would do it all over again in a New York Minute! However, and I know it will sound strange, sometimes I miss my fat... and a few things that came with it. 1. Food. I miss food. I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen (with a brief stint on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) for going on about 9 years. It's gone swimmingly. It felt amazing to be able to fit into clothing that is sold locally and not have to order it online like a hermit. I tried on clothes, not circus tents, actual clothes! And I bought stuff, not just because it fit and I had no choice, but because I actually LIKED the way it looked. I know it's still early, but this is great motivation for me. I have always thought besides my eyes that my breasts were the best assests of my body. I love my breasts and would not want them to get small. I know this is vain and that it really shouldnt matter but it does to me. Any advice on letting go or experiences on how your breasts changed sizes would be appreciated. Hi All, I am basically at goal (actually 10 under my original goal), and am having fits finding the right bra. When I get measured and get the size they recommend once I put it on there is so much sag that there is extra fabric on top. My only solution so far has been a bra that is basically a workout style. If I knew where to go for a good fitting I'd do it, but up here they don't know anymore about measuring than I do! I'm thinking of trying a push up style just to solve the issue. Surgery isn't an option because I can't imagine insurance covering that! I'm 57, lost over 100 pounds, and my boobs were working models (three kids). Any suggestions?

Due to my PCOS, I suffer from amenorrhea, so we aren't to concerned about me ovulating right now. I have read stories of women saying they are asked to not take their BCP weeks leading up to surgery because of the blood clot risk. Did any of you take other precautions if so what?
