Divorce Help

Hi everybody,

I hate to say this, because I feel like such a statistic, but I am going to have to divorce my husband. We've been married

for almost 7 years. We've had our struggles, but it has turned into an abusive relationship that is escalating in violence. I have decided to leave. We don't have any kids. I honestly have tried to save this relationship with everything I could, but now it's time to go. The only problem is, I have no idea about the divorce process. I live in TN. Has anyone been through a divorce with no kids? We don't have a house or anything major to fight over besides maybe appliances. Is it possible to do it yourself without an attorney? Also, I'm worried that he won't sign the papers just to be spiteful. Also, does anyone have an idea how long the process is? I'm hoping to get this over with as soon as possible so I can just start over and heal.

Thank you for you advice in advance!,

Emily

Go the court out and file for a divorce. Proceed from there. No kids and property will be easier. I leave everything to him and run.

Sorry y'all. I should have deleted this post. Just to give a VERY overdue update, the moving process was scary for a minute, but it did go safely overall. I found an attorney to help me with the divorce process. He ended up moving out of state a week after I moved. I am safe finally and so much happier. The Lord really protected me throughout all of this and healed my heart. I am dating someone who is the kindest, sweetest man I've ever met. He is very good to me and protects my heart.
