I've been able to drink my protein shakes ok. It takes me about 30 minutes to sip 1/2 of the shake. I will usually put the rest of it in the fridge and sip about an hour later. I've also been drinking water and eating sf pops. Those have been great and Kroger even makes a store brand sf pop. I found some sf vitamin water from Kroger brand. This week brings the change to soft foods. I feel myself getting fuller much faster when eating smooth soups or cottage cheese. I added unflavored protein to the soup, but the bowl of soup is going to last 3-4 meals. I have to remember to wait to drink after meals. I find myself thirstiest after meals.

I had my surgery Monday and I've been home for a few days. The time in the hospital was rough. When I first came out of surgery, I felt as if I couldn't breathe and was very nauseous! I had to be placed on oxygen and received zofran. Once I got home and got my medicine, everything fell into place Wednesday evening. Thursday was a 100% improvement. I was able to go to a few stores Friday. Everything is going down ok with little to no nausea. I'm thankful for All the information this board has given me. I actually printed out dstrollery's (sp?) be informed post to take to the hospital. I'm feeling really good about my recovery so far. Also thankful that God has allowed the surgery and recovery to go so well.

Thank you everyone!! I met with the surgeon yesterday and I chose my surgery date as 8-27-2012!!
I had to immediately start the liver shrink diet today. I was very surprised as I didn't think I would be able to have surgery so soon! I'm in hyper mode now to get everything I need to make sure my house and work are in order for me to be out of commission for a while. I just can't believe this is finally happening! I have been wanting to take this step for years! I am just so grateful!

I saw this cake idea on pinterest. Maybe I should use this for my birthday after WLS or an "anniversary cake" for my surgery date!

I am thisclose to submitting my information to my insurance for approval! I have to attend a nutrition class tonight and have my final weigh in this month and I am finished! These six months have flown by! I feel like I have learned a lot and I am incredibly excited about what the future holds. Here's to a new year filled with success, adventures, and finding out what's behind all these layers I've created. I'm hopeful and thankful to have found this forum.

I am really going to miss biscuits! I moved to Memphis last year and they are everywhere here! I am also a cupcake addict! I am more excited about the transformation that is going to happen within the next few years though! Healthy living, here I come!

I can definitely relate to this! I have had one pedicure, on my wedding day. I have always felt so self conscious about this. I guess I always felt like I was unworthy and I felt like the technician was disgusted with me. I've had a few manicures and the technicians have been really rude and wouldn't really talk to me and would talk in a foreign language to their co workers.
    What I'm looking forward to:

The option to have children and be a good example if I do
A better/healthier relationship with my husband
Becoming a runner and completing a marathon
Fitting comfortably into an airplane seat (I've avoided flying due to this)
Shopping with my sister in the normal sizes (We've NEVER been able to do this together!)
    Enjoying amusement park rides again!
Shopping at VS for the first time ever and not having to go straight to the beauty/makeup dept because nothing fits!
Not being the fat invisible/overlooked friend
    Not worrying about weight restrictions
    Kayaking
Not feeling so miserable during this Memphis heat!

I am the same way. I have found what works for me, however. I really like group exercise classes. Zumba has been my favorite class! I am having so much fun that I forget that I'm exercising. I'm able to smile and laugh the entire time. I also love to swim. I'm hoping to join the YMCA soon, so I can get more involved in exercise classes on a regular basis.

Great news Jenneliza. I bet the will love helping you. I made a big batch of chicken taco soup for my son before I left. He loves it and I know its something good for him. I'm checked in at the hotel. Surgery in the morning for me.

My boss had the surgery and afterwards, she was always cold. As in, she had a space heater running during the summer months!! I hated having to work in her office due to that, lol!! I've heard that a lot of people run cold after they have the surgery. I sure hope I'm one of them! I hate to sweat and now that I live in the south, it's (the heat) even worse!
