  4. I had RNY and a significant hernia repair on 4-21-15 so I am almost 7 weeks. I walked my first ever 5k a week ago and survived. I began to feel much more normal right around 6 weeks. I do still tire in the afternoon and a nice little nap would be great, but then again, it is the end of the school year, hot as Haiti here, the kids are wild, and any day would be exhausting. lol Don't rush yourself. Give yourself time to heal and find your new normal. You are not the same as you were and will feel a bit different, if for no other reason than you are eating so differently. Take care!
  5. I told only two people at work...one of them couldn't keep her mouth shut as well as I thought she could As far as I know, only four people at work know. Of course, my husband knows and my 3 kids (ages 17-26). I opted to not tell my mother as she has Alzheimer's and she freaks out of I even have a head cold as there is no one else in her life. She feels her security in life is threatened if I am not 100%. I chose to not tell any other family, close or extended. This is very personal to me.

  10. As requested by my surgeon, I weigh every morning immediately after getting up and then write it in my food journal. It is nice because then I can see things like that drinking a cup of bouillon makes me go up at least a lb the next day
  11. My husband took a weeks vacation to stay home with me. I appreciated, VERY MUCH, having someone there as support, to help get things for me, to go on short walks outside with me, etc. I think it would be nice for you to have him for a couple of days if possible. Remember, you will have had major surgery. Perhaps he can schedule to be off a few days and if you don't need him he could return to work early...
  12. My NUT told me decaf is just fine. I have had no problems with it. I am 6 weeks post-op and have been drinking it for several weeks now.

  19. I am at six weeks on Tuesday and have lost 22 pounds. Let the fact that in the same amount of time you have lost TEN lbs more than me soothe your mind...
  20. Really, the only thing I Used from home was my pajamas on day two.

  22. @, I am a bit younger than you, 47, and will be 5 weeks post-op tomorrow. I am struggling much the same as you. I do okay in the mornings, but then about lunch time my energy starts to wane. By the time I walk my students out at the end of the day, 3:00 p.m., I am beat and starting to not feel well and needing a rest. I just keep reminding myself that I had major surgery, am essentially starving my body, and am not as young as I used to be. I am frustrated and truly hoping better times are yet to come. I need the energy to walk in the evenings.

  24. It makes 8 oz so I divide it in two and keep the rest in the fridge for the next meal.
  25. @@Indieflickers, I make my protein shakes so that I end up with 16 grams of protein in a 4oz serving. I use 8oz if 1% milk, 1 scoop of unflavored Unjury protein powder and one packet of Swiss Miss DIET hot cocoa mix.
