So I am 12 days post-op and I started purees a few days ago. I noticed yesterday when I was eating that my right boob felt really sore all of a sudden. This morning I was eating breakfast and I it again- only this time in my left boob! I guess that's my clue to stop eating- lol!

Ok...so I realize this is a vanity thing and not a health concern but I pretty much constantly wonder if I'll have loose skin once I start loosing a significant amount of weight. My heaviest was 235 and I'm still hovering around there while I'm going through all my pre-op stuff and my BMI is about 40. I'm 23 and I've heard that my age helps with the whole skin elasticity thing. I also plan on doing strength training as soon as possible post-op. I could stand to lose at least 100 pounds though. My question is am I being crazy worrying about loose skin? Are there weight loss surgery patients out there who don't experience that much loose skin? What has worked for you in pre…

I am scheduled for my first consultation for the sleeve. Nothing is set in stone and I'm pretty sure this is what I want to do. One question I have is for any of you who have had it done- have you noticed an increase in your libido since surgery- when you felt up to it? I have noticed that the heavier I have gotten, the less desire I have and I'm wondering if that is something that will change after.

This weekend I went to a preschooler's birthday party. There wasn't a lot for the adults to do but sit around and talk to one another as the kiddos went crazy. After sitting for several hours in a camp chair my back was starting to ache. I switched to another upright chair and it was better, but I just couldn't get comfortable. I started squirming around looking for a comfortable position and suddenly I just crossed my legs. That was it, that simple. I was able to cross my legs. I haven't done that in years...I mean YEARS! ( at least 15+) I suddenly realized what I had done and started giggling to myself. I didn't sit too long with my legs crossed for the simple fact I ha…

I everyone! I had gastric bypass surgery on 6/24/14. That night at the hospital I was awake all night crying in horrible pain from the gas used during surgery. It felt like all of my insides were cramping in knots. This continued until today...now just smaller cramps. I have not had a bowel movement despite dulcolax (given in hospital), two days using miralax, and resorting to prune juice. Has anyone else experienced this pain & constipation. I've tried to walk but I'm so weak & in so much pain I can't make it outside the house. When I read the boards i'm really depressed because everyone reports feeling great on day 2 or 3. Is it just me? I'm feeling li…

Hello Ladies, I'm a breast cancer survivor and have been on tamoxifen for just a little over a year. My entire medical team is on board with me having the surgery and my scheduled date is July 2. I'll resume tamoxifen two weeks post op and am curious about some of the side effects and how it may impact my results i.e., tamoxifen causes weight gain; that metallic taste that you get when you first start taking it, does it worsen with weight loss surgery, etc. I'd appreciate anyone sharing their experience. Thanks so much!

I have one huge boob and one not so huge boob. It's safe to say the big one is easily double the size of the other. I know it's quite common, I'm just wondering if anyone has had them even out a bit more during weight loss? I'm totally up for a boob job when the time comes because they've taken a lot during all the yoyo dieting. Just curious!

  12. I'm working on laundry, and all of a sudden I got this overwhelming sadness. I should be excited that this will soon be the last time I'm looking at some of the tent-like clothes, but I can't explain it. I should be jumping up and down about this new life I'm embarking on, not mourning my old life full of size 18 clothes, kids embarrassed to be seen with me at the pool, aching joints, and my hermit like tendencies. Don't get me wrong, I'm not having second thoughts about getting sleeved, I'm just wondering of it's normal to have these mixed emotions?

  16. Tomorrow it'll officially be 6 months since I was sleeved. I was told that my hair would start falling out a few months into post-opt, but so far (*knock on wood*)so good. I've been working hard to get in my protein/calcium, I exercise, try to eat well, drink milk daily and I (almost always) take my Vitamins, so maybe that's helping. My hair seems to be growing faster since my surgery. (It was chin length pre-opt. Post opt, it meets my bra strap). Anyway, I've been wanting to dye my hair for quite some time now, but I am terrified that it's too soon and/or I'm going to somehow mess up the increased hair growth I've seen and it'll start breaking off/falling out. So thank you ladies for all being so open and honest and non judgemental of each other! Especially since there are plenty of people out there who judge us already. I'm pre-op and it's my TOM so I am bingeing a little (ok, a lot) and I was wondering...Post-op what are the best ways you counter your TOM cravings?! Mostly I want chocolate or sweets or greasy food and I know that is a little tough for awhile (read a looooooooooong time) after VSG.

Okay, I want a 2 piece swimsuit - I guess a bucket list item. I tried on lots of them but didn't do too well in the womens department. They have string bikinis and they have "matronly". The more modest ones didn't come in my size - I have a size 4 butt and modest bottoms in my local stores tended to start about size 10. Some of the prettier ones (that were not string bikinis) were too big OR were ridiculously expensive... I don't think I should pay $150 for a two piece swimsuit! So, i wound up getting one out of the junior section. I bought Jr med bottoms and XL junior top and it fits, good price at 50% off sale. Not a string bikini, but not a matronly skirt type dea…

  26. So, I've been single (divorced) for about a year now. I made the decision well before the end of my marriage to have VSG. I also made the decision to not get romantically involved with anyone new until well past my surgery when I am completely healed and past the awkward questions stage. So I typically wear sports bras on a daily basis cause thy are so much comfier. But when I dress up, I wear a regular pretty, lacy bra that lifts and separates.... Accentuate the assets! Last Friday night I was getting dressed to go out and discovered my bra was saggy and the wrinkles showed through the thin sweater I had on. So I tried another bra...and another...and another! 5 bras later I finally came to terms with the fact I am now a very sad, saggy, droopy C cup (I ranged between D and DD preop) Looks like I gotta start saving my pennies for new "unmentionables".

But since NSAIDs are a lapband no no, I have no idea what to do anymore! I know they say getting on the pill can help with bad cramps, but I was on the pill for 7 years and I still had bad cramps, just a lighter flow. I've been off the pill for over a year now and I still have the bad cramps and light flow (which is nice, but kind of strange. When it hurts that bad you kind of expect a river or something haha). (I told her I may need to hold on to my larger sized pants because I'll need to tuck them into my waistband pretty soon.) She claims they will "firm up" once I start losing weight. The girls don't seem interested in weight training. Believe me, I've tried to convince them. My mom sees me as young. (I am 40) I think she is wrong, wrong, wrong about the reality of this situation. I will probably look into reduction/lift options, because the boobage just isn't cute, and they seem heavier these days. Pendulous, even. Anyone care to shed some light on this subject? Amy

I have only pooped once since last Friday, and barely any at that. I don't really feel like I have to go either. No pressure or bloating. My stomach is a little crampy but that may because I've been taking stool softeners to try and go. Also, I'm on Nuva Ring currently and I started bleeding the other day. Not heavy, but enough for a pad or tampon. I'm not scheduled to remove the ring until Saturday. At this point I don't know what's up. Well I had my "annual" mammogram today. I say "annual" because my last one was over 18 months ago. When I checked in at the radiology center I had to update my profile. The weight they had on file was from the last mammo (265 lbs) so I felt good to enter 156! Then when I was getting my boobs squished I realized my sistas are VERY FLAT. I also realized I need to buy smaller bras again (was 44 DDD and now 34B) So......I am undecided if today was a NSV or not.

I was sleeved on 4/15/14 and have gone from 323 to 295 in that time. My husband has been totally supportive during the whole process. I attempted to initiate sex tonight, but he totally shut me down. He said he is not comfortable with the changes he sees yet and needs time to get used to them. Any one else had this experience after surgery.
