Pre op surg and constipation

Don't think I was expecting this.

A little concerned.

Cleared up today but was difficult to expel. Best way to put that.

I had the same consistency and problem post c-section. One of those I ended up in ER impacted.

Is this normal? I was expecting to need prune juice post surgery but not before. Surg is tuesday

The Protein shakes four times a day caused it for me. Now that I am down to 3-4 a week, it is not a problem....plus I take two magnesium tablets a day, and stool softeners as needed.....and I drink two ounces of prune juice at bedtime. Also, I try to get in a few bites of veggies with every meal. Yeah, I thought I was passing a watermelon.

I didn't have this issue pre-op because I took a stool softener. Post-op is a different issue. I couldn't take stool softener pills so I bought milk of magnesia in black cherry flavor. You can actually stand this flavor. I've had to use it twice & then I only took 2 tablespoons.
