im about a year and a half post op and i do not want to lose weight anymore. Unfortunately it seems like Im having trouble stoping. I feel like not matter what I do my weight is still slowely droping. im down to 110 lbs and i probably have close to 5 to 10 lbs in extra skin I need to get removed. I guess my question is, how do I stop? I also have been experiencing some less than normal things with my body... Its only happend a few times but sometimes when I eat too much at once I get extremely dizzy, sweaty, and then i pass out. Its happend to me a few times but the last time it happend the last thing i remember is laying in my bed knowing i was about to pass out and not …

I am 6 weeks post surgery. Everything healed well, but I have lost my appetite. I am still not on fresh fruit and vegetables or fiberous meats, but nothing is tasting good. My appetite was fine a week ago and I was actually looking forward to the new types of food I could eat at 5 weeks, but it is gone. I can eat 2 bites of something and next time I think about eating it, it makes me nauseated. Is this the after affects of anesthesia? or is this something that you experience from the surgery? Any ideas?

My wife's cousin just died because complications with the VSG (10:00 PM local time Brasil). She was 55 year old. She was sleeved 1.5month ago, we live in the third biggest city in the country, 7 million people. The guy that made the VSG is the same that made mine, he already made 500 of them. She had a leak a week later and she went to a surgery to fix it, a open one this time, after that she stayed 5 days in the ICU, got better and went to ta room, after two weeks she was still with an infection and difficult to breath. She was back to the ICU for the last two weeks, last 5 days breathing thought a tracheotomy. Today the machine was not enough so they send her to a lun…

I am one year post-op from mexico sleeve and am only down 20pounds. I was down as low as 40pound lose but was mostly due in part to starting and stopping a new anti-depressant. I have always been able to eat a lot and stay hungry often. The doctor said I needed resleeved. I was hoping to get any information from those who have had a failed sleeve.

I started at 547 lbs back in like march me and my brother worked out and i lost 50 lbs in 2 months to 497. I ended up falling off the wagon and started gaining back weight and was at 510 lbs before i started booking surgery. I had a pre op liquid diet set for april 30th so from mid april to end of april i gained 8lbs to 518 knowing i had the surgery coming up. So from April 30th to May 29th i went from 518 lbs to today im at 465. Ive followed my liquid diet real well with the only solid thing ive eaten was a half granola bar and a single combo (pretzel combos). I know that kind of weight loss wont continue as time goes on but i still wanted to share. I went from 4-5k calo…

I don't know if it will help, but I am going to specifically request my doctor support VST - tell his patients about it minimally, run and ad if possible, etc. I know there are so many of us out there that just do not know about this forum. My doctor performs anywhere from 5-25 surgeries a week, and figure in how many are done overall. I wish everyone knew! OK, so doctor, FB (I don't twitter) I am going to put it on Pinterest, hmmm...anything else?

Tomorrow is 1 week since my VSG (3/19). I didn't have any particular expectations about how I'd feel at this point. From reading lots of discussion groups and blogs, it's clear that there is no "average" recovery process. What I'm experiencing is: my incisions are about 80% better than the day after, and my stomach is sending very confusing signals. I feel about as hungry as if I was only taking in around 500 calories/day, which I am! I thought I wouldn't have any appetite, so that's pretty disappointing. Some VSG people had great hunger early on, and it eased up eventually. I feel the worst in the morning. My first few sips of Water in the morning cause some mild crampi…

Okay guys, Its challenge time again. Who is with me? Memorial Day is about 7 weeks away and I am going to start this challenge off right with a doable goal of 10 pounds. I am 8 months out today and I know my losses will be continuing to slow. I used to set my goals at 20 pounds, then 15, then 13 and now 10. I want to be realistic and I am only 20 pounds from goal so I think 10 pounds is a good realistic goal for me. How about you? What will be your goal for the next seven weeks?

Hi everyone! I am new to this site and I'm loving it already.. So much motivation and new ideas! I am 7 months post op and down 69 pounds. Very excited about getting healthier! I'm wondering if I'll gain a lot of weight after I decide to get prego next year? Will I still have a good amount of restriction?

Ok..why no gum chewing??? I realize if I swallow the gum which I don't that I will have to go to the ER to have it removed. So other than that...is it because of the swallowing air issue? Does anyone else chew gum???

Does anyone own these boards think they may have candida? I Suspect I do because I crave carbs everyday, Am fatigued and have depression as well as brain fog and poor concentration. I am not going to go into detail about candida treatment other than to say that a food plan limitng carbohydrates is highly encouraged. This reminds me of the post up food plans.

I got sleeved May 20th so I am only 4 days post op. On the bright side I'm not hungry. On the other side I can't stop thinking about food.... things I want to eat, I would love a bite of mashed potatoes!!! But I'm not hungry, I know I am not the only one that is dealing with this. I dreamt about chicken last night. But I'm not hungry.... dealing with the head hunger is terrible. Can we "sleeve" our brains? I know it will get better as I progress through the next few weeks and start seeing the scale drop. I head home tomorrow so hopefully being hame and not stupid bored in a hotel room will make a difference, but I have to remember I am not hungry.... just a bit crazy!!!

I'm curious, do you have sliming/productive-burping/food "stuck" with the sleeve just like the band? I know you have to eat slow and watch your portions, but I really don't want to go the rest of my life with the same symptoms my band is giving me! I will be grateful for any info you revisions can give me!

I had lap band surgery in Mexico in 2007. I had a very good experience with my trip to Mexico for the surgery and felt that it was an excellent option for me as a lower weight, self pay patient. Now, a little over 4 years later I am hoping to revise to the gastric sleeve. While I have had good results with losing weight with the band(currently at 158lbs), I find that I have a difficult time eating the healthier foods that I want to. With the band I have a very difficult time eating fruit, lettuce, or fibrous veggies leaving me very frustrated! I have had lots of reflux that I never had before surgery and I have had a very hard time finding anyone in my area to follo…

Alot of us have posted questions here about if we wish we had had surgery sooner, regrets about this or that, they are all good questions. I do know I think the years would have been easier if the weight were not there. I can not imagine not being with my husband, thick or thin, so I do not regret the years, just that I were not in the health I wanted to be, and the worry and expense it has caused us. I tried so hard to keep the weight off as a teenager to be able to join the military I almost developed anorexia. I do have a regret. I regret not being able to fight for my country. My great grandfathers fought, my grandfathers fought. Uncles, great-uncles and more. My …

I had a revision on May 11. I feel hungry all the time and can eat/drink up to 5 ounces at a time(pureed soups, jello etc). I still feel hungry after that at times. I have lost 25 or so pounds since pre-op diet and weight loss seems to be slower than I thought it would be. Again, surgery was 14 days ago. I feel like I have already failed and ruined the sleeve. My lapband was a nightmare and it was a fight to eat EVERY SINGLE TIME so the feeling is so much different now that its gone and Im not throwing up every meal I think I am not noticing the "signal" for full or just ignoring it. I am doing protein shakes at least once a day. Please help and let me know if thi…

Helloah fellow sleevers, So, once again I am looking for words of wisdom from my sleeve family! I am really suffering with Water retention at the moment... something I haven't had since before my sleeve, nearly two years ago! It is that bad, my weight has increased and I am at the top and occasionally over my comfortable bounce range. The bloated feeling is not only in my stomach area, but my ankles have also started to swell and I have even had imprints from my sock style slippers in the evening. My wedding ring, a usual indicator, is ok... not as loose as it used to be but not tight either. The bloatedness (if that is a word, but you know what I mean) is generall…

Here goes... I'm getting sleeved Wednesday morning in Myrtle Beach, SC, and am psychologically struggling with replacing my "eating fun" with real fun. I've greatly struggled on my pre-op diet, mainly because I don't know how to say "no" to food or an easy fix for dinner over my protein shakes. My husband and I have always associated fun with food if it's watching a movie on tv and eating a whole bag of Oreo's or wanting to go out to eat for a new experience when we travel a bit. He knows how important it is to stick on my pre-op and even get the nutrients I need post-op, but we both don't know how to deal with me drinking a protein shake and whatnot. I told him that post…

I'm scheduled for revision (lap to sleeve) June 6th and I have been dreaming body skinny...meaning, in my dreams, I was thin but my brain was still 'fat.' Having spent nearly all of my life as either dieting and/or obese, I have been thinking about the difficulties of such a dramatic change. I am super excited about all the good things-getting healthy, fitting in seats, feeling pretty, wearing cute clothes, higher wages/credibility, etc. And I know my weight has forced me to overcompensate in a hundred different ways but frankly has given me lots of freedom. While I am usually the widest one in the room, I also don't feel like men sexualize me in a work/professional con…

Someone shared this link on a VSG FB page and I thought I'd share it. It looks pretty cool to mess around with it. Didn't seem to realistic, because the models look so perfect, but it gives you a general idea of your body shape if you were at certain sizes. It's pretty fun to play around with. Hope you like it! http://corpo.mvm.com/en/shopping/weightloss.php

Hey guys, I was sleeved in December, and am headed to Punta Cana for a friends wedding in 2 weeks. Some of my friends know about the surgery, but many people who I went to high school with who will be there have no idea. What have you guys done for scar minimization? Mine are still kinda reddish. I have been exfoliating them often, which really helps. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone, My name is Kirstyn and I am finally introducing myself after lurking here for a little while. I am just starting the process of having a revision from the lap-band to the sleeve through Kaiser Fontana. I self-paid to be banded back on Nov. 6, 2002, 9.5 years ago, and did very well with it for about 7 years. I lost 112 pounds, got pregnant, gained 30 pounds, lost 18 of those pounds within a month and a half of having my baby and then maintained for about a year. Then everything went haywire and I have now gained back 82 of the 112 pounds that I lost. I have requested that Kaiser do the revision and am scheduled to have any Upper GI on Thursday, May …

Hi everyone! stumbled across this while I was searching for answers. I'm a newbie to all of this and it's all been a bit scary yet an adventure at the same time. I've struggled with my weight my whole life, yoyo'ing all the way. The last two years my health has been going downhill with one problem after another. I finally decided that enough was enough and it was time to get serious and get this weight off once and for all. My boyfriend is awesome and very supportive of me. We live together and he does all the cooking. he's been changing how he cooks in order to be more healthy for me. (he's so sweet!) I told my parents awhile back that I was looking into doin…

So....that got me to thinking, what do you call your sleeve? I'm still preop and thus can't contribute but I'm interested to hear from those who have given their sleeve a name. ~Amy

I see that a number of you are, like me, approaching a 100 pound loss. Are we awesome, or what!!!! My friends and family are kind of losing interest in hearing about this all the time, so I was hoping I could find some friends here to join me, if you're also close to 100, or just cheer me on as I cross that line. I was sleeved 1/24 and I've lost 95 pounds, 50 of them since the surgery itself. I'm a slow loser, so it may take me a month to lose the next 5 pounds, but I'm pretty excited. I still have about another 100 (conservatively) to lose, but I'm having a blast buying clothes in stores I couldn't go to before!! Shopping is my new addiction. It's terrible, but w…

When people ask me if they should have wls, I give a flat NO! I don't think the surgery can be adequately described. There are too many unknown consequences and the big decision should hinge on your mental health: how resilient are you? If u lose weight, will you have the courage to behave like a thinner person? If you can't imagine that, then don't do the surgery. Its not the answer. It is a very expensive, life altering, weight loss tool. What do u think Sent from my SGH-T839 using VST
