I have been naueous for about a week, over the weekend I was taking an antibiotic and on Thursday my doctor started titrating me off insulin and put me back on Metformin which I have taken before. This morning I started vomiting and some foamy stuff came up how bad is this for my sleeve? And what could have caused it? I have been having a hard time with regular foods like meat no matter how much I chew or how little I eat which trust me is'nt much, Protein powder shakes not going down real well either. Help!

So I've been basically cooped up on my house with my 2 little girls for over a week. My mother God love her she took both of my girls last night for the night and told my husband and I to go to the movies, so we did. Then this morning after sleeping in mom and I went to town with the girls. We shopped all day. We walked so much my mom joked with me that I probably would loose 5 pounds heres to hoping so ha ha ha. So anyways so much walking and now my left side lower back is killing me. But man what a day!

Just wondering how much of that information is true. I'm enough of a skeptic to believe all the parts in the movie that talked about all the researchers and politicians who had ulterior motives. But something in me tells me the maker of the movie also had an ulterior motive....but that's because I'm such a skeptic. I've also done just enough research in my life to know that for every "fact" you can find on the Internet, you find someone else who contradicts that "fact" with their own counter "facts". So does anyone here know the "facts"?

Was sleeved on 05/16. I am still hungry quite a bit after my meals. This has been the case since I came out of surgery. This is very discouraging since I was told by my Dr that my hunger would subside within a week or so. Also I have only lost 22 lbs in one month. The first two weeks it was 16 lbs. then only 6 lbs the next two weeks. I have exercised every day and have had zero carbs, sweets, and so on. Just very discouraged :-(

Ok, so i lost my boyfriend May 2011 to cancer, ( i have my own guardian angel). Yes it made me a stronger person in some ways. During the 8 months of his sickness i became very obese instead of just obese. We talked of me having the surgery when he was better. Well he is all better, on a cloud watching over me. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow the 14th. I really would like to start going out and about more often, not have a "boyfriend" so to speak, but maybe date, go out with friends. So the typical date is dinner or drinks with friends. Not everyone, hardly anyone knows of my surgery. How do you handle this when you can't drink and only eat a few bites. I don't wa…

Ok so I am just over a month out from my surgery so I thought would share what I am feeling, doing, ect.... Of course in hopes that either someone may find encouragement that someonelse is going through the same thing or that I will find reassurance because someone tells me they are going through the same thing. So... I had the sleeve on May 16th. I am currently approx 40lbs down since surgery, though I have sworn off the scale for a few days because I have hit a platue and I would rather swear at that darn thing and throw it out the window than to see the same number staring me in the face that had the day before. I can not complain though because i suppose that 40 i…

I am trying to get a set schedule for taking my meds and my vitamins/supplements. I take the following vitamims/supplements: B-12 Biotin Calcium Multivitamin containing Iron I'm thinking that I can take all of the above except calcium at one time in the morning. Then, I can take my 3 doses of calcium throughout the day. I also think I can take my 2 meds with all of the vitamims/supplements in the morning. I will check with my doctor, pharmacist or nutritionist about that though. I'm just tying to simplify things and this seems the way to go. That is, unless anyone knows if I shouldn't be combining some of this. Thoughts? Oh, and 2,ore things: 1.) How long afte…

After talking to a couple of folks on here in PM, I've decided to see how much interest there may be out there in a South Florida meet up. I'm specifically aiming this at those on the Space and Treasure Coasts, although any Florida Sleever is welcome to attend if they like. Once I see how much interest there is in a meet-up, then we'll decide on a place and time. I'm thinking it will probably be in Vero Beach. Let's see if we have any interest out there. I know there are at least half a dozen posters that are within 30 miles of Vero, and there are probably quite a few lurkers. Now is the time to un-lurk!

  18. My boyfriend brought this to my attention today. He said it was on yahoo. Wasn't sure what kind of surgery it was, or what it was called so i just googled it and it said its the sleeve...... THROUGH THE MOUTH???? has anyone heard of this???? A new type of weight loss surgery was preformed at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. This new type of bariatric surgery removes a section of the patients stomach though their mouth. The bariatric procedure called sleeve gastrectomy, which is also known as gastric sleeve, sections off a part of the stomach and permanently removes up to 80 percent of the stomach. With bariatric surgeries, the stomach size i…

Revised 5/9. Lost 12 lbs pre-op and since 5/9 have lost 6 lbs (all in one week, a week ago) and have gone back up 1.5 weeks. I'm at 183.4 now and my goal is 155. I'm so freakin frustrated I want to cry and scream simultaneously. I've been told it's because I'm so close to goal but I've seen others close to goal lose 20-30 lbs already. What is wrong with me?!?!?!?!?! Am I being perfect, no. But certainly not bad enough to warrant this. I'm glad that I'm rid of the band - I think going over a month without throwing up is quite an accomplisment after 3 years with the band - but I did hope to lose weight that I wasn't able to lose with the band. I have to be at the hospital at 5:15 MONDAY morning and am scheduled for the 1st surgery of the day at 8:15. I have been so busy this week that I haven't had time to even think about it very much. All I can say is Wow! several times today I have thought to myself "hey girl don't you realize you are about to voluntarily remove 85% of your stomach, are you crazy? why aren't you nervous?" I am so at peace about this whole thing it's so totally unbelievable. My only thought I keep having is what if I do this and don't lose the weight I'm gonna feel like a complete failure! Non-sense aside I can't wait to get my life back!

I am pretty new to the site here! I have been reading information for a month or so and recommended it to my nutrition group last week. Well..I finally have a surgery date..yeah me! I was banded in Sept 2007 and initially lost 36lbs only to gain it all back. The only thing it does for me is make it hard to swallow medicine and throw up. I wish I had never had it! I am excited about getting my band off and my sleeve done! I appreciate all your posts and the encouagement you are to me!

I'm looking for responses from people further out in this journey who can give me some insight, advice and opinions. I've been trying really hard and doing a pretty darn good job of living in the moment on this journey. However, there is one issue I've been looking toward the future about.....the mental side of my journey. My surgeon fixed my ability to eat massive amounts of food in one sitting. He did not and cannot fix my ability to chose bad foods and my ability to "cheat" my sleeve by grazing. …

Just joined this group. I am an RN, I am having my surgery july 10 in Houston. My surgeon is Dr. Sherman Yu. I have a lapband that has slipped. I had the band since 5/09. I lost about 50 lbs and quit losing after about 2 mos. I had an ultra conservative surgeon who would not fill very often. Turns out to be a good thing I would have really had problems after the slip if not for the fact that the band did not have much fluid in. My slip was upward most like caused by a vomiting episode. Anyways glad to be having the VGS.

Surgery is in 11 days and up until yesterday I was nothing but excited. I had a friend some what freak me out (not knowing) about the pain. I've heard the pain is similar to a csection, although I have never had children I have witnessed many friends recover from csections and never heard complaints. Please feel free to share your story to help ease my mind. Pain I can handle but I would much rather mentally prepare myself as best as possible!

  38. What's the No. 1 excuse for not working out? Lack of time. Sure, we're all busy handling multiple priorities and rushing around from here and there every day. However, no matter how busy you are, someone even busier than you are is working out right now. If you look closer, you'll discover that you do have the time to work out—and you deserve to use that time for yourself.. Squeezing in just a few minutes of physical exercise a day has huge benefits on your health, gives you energy and perks up your mood. In fact, a new study published by The Lancet found that if inactive people increased their physical activity by just 15 minutes per day, they could reduce their risk o…

The thing that is bothering me is that I seem to be producing so much saliva that it's making me feel "overfull". This really seems odd to me. I can force the saliva back up & relieve the discomfort. I know this is pretty gross. But has anybody else experienced this?
