Anyone Start A New Job, Weeks Before Surgery?anyone Work For The City Of Ny?

Looks like I got a new job. I have to get medically checked out, plus psych eval. So, not sure of all the details but I think training will start three weeks before surgery. Nothing will stop my surgery, I just would like to keep the job. Share your experiences?

You need to let them know what's going on. That way you are honest with them. You don't have to tell them what you are having done. Only that you are having surgery and need to take x amount of time off for it. It will be covered under FMLA.

You have to be with your employer for a year or have worked 1250 hours in order for FMLA to cover your leave of absence. Most jobs will approve a "medical leave" for surgery or major illness but not sure how long you have to be on your job before they will. I hope it all works out for you.
