Hi everyone. I was just wondering about energy levels. My surgery was on May 10th, and I am on my first official day of full liquids (although I did try a soup yesterday) My energy level has been very, very low. I was just wondering at what point should I start to feel better? Right now I feel as though I could sleep for a month. I've been trying to get my water and some protein in, and have been getting about 30-40 grams of protein (as instructed on my clear diet) Please tell me this gets better!

  4. Im very jealous of all of you who are about to have surgery this week. My surgery is not until May 29th. I HATE waiting. But I've been through this before since I currently have the band and Im very lucky that the process to get the approval for my band removal (due to a slip) and revision to the sleeve was done so quickly. But my band is unfilled right now and I have no restriction and I've already gained 7 lbs back. I've been stuck for the past 6-8 months not losing any weight and Im ready to get back to shedding those pounds!

  7. 1. Having to hang out in the handicapped stall at work pacing and praying that whatever I have just eaten will just go down or come up already. 2. #1 plus going back to my desk after ridding myself of whatever got stuck and then having to run back 3 minutes later because I apparently was on a roll 3. Eating steak one day, throwing up a Protein shake the next.... Anyone care to add?

I have been extremely overweight ever since I can remember. I joke and say that the only time I have ever been thin is when I had lead poisoning in 3rd grade. Sad, but true. When I was in 5th grade I weighed 250 pounds and I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. I have been battling with diabetes(insulin dependent since 2008) and weight loss ever since. I am now 28, weigh over 400 pounds (my bmi is over 60), have a whole list of health problems and have had enough! I am ready to take back my life. I have been looking into weight loss surgery since 2004, but had always heard that you can't have children after you have the surgery. I told myself I would wait until I was done, t…

  9. I can't believe that it has been 14 mos. since I had my band removed, and the sleeve done! I am 91 lbs. lighter, and I feel wonderful! I never lost any appreciable weight with my band, and I would have some pain and discomfort if I ate certain foods, and sometimes vomiting. I had trouble eating the good food, (chicken, pork, veggies) but the junk food went down just fine. I had 6 adjustments, and it didn't help me. Thank God for the sleeve. I am so happy for this new chance at life. Thank you, thank you, Dr. Dumkowski of Sebastian, FL. You changed my life! Here's to all my fellow "losers" that have already or will experience the new you.

Actually, there have been a few posts over here and I guess there isn't too terribly much to talk about that hasn't already been covered on the other topics, but just thought I'd say hi and good luck to all my July people! Mine is on the 18th and it's just starting to sink in that is 3 weeks away! Wow! When is your surgery? And how do you feel about it? Excited? Nervous? Hesitant?

I lost 7 pounds in the last month by counting calories with myfitnesspal.com and I cut out soda, I'm so happy I only expected maybe a couple of pounds because I went over the calories a few days but it didn't matter. yay!! My PCP thinks it would be helpful if I lost another 8 (to ta 15) just to make the surhery easier. I went down from a 42 BMI to 41. I also won one of Dr. Oz's giveaways. I couldn't be more thrilled. Here's a link to the photo gallery of the product. http://www.fitbit.com/product/gallery

This is taking forEVER. Ugh! I'm losing about a pound a week. Yes, at least it's steady but, at this rate, it'll take me another 6 mos to get to goal. I'm walking at least an hour a day sometimes up to 2 and eating an average of 800 cals, very low carb. I'm thinking about going back to the liquid diet but it's so hard to stick to when you don't have to like fixing to go under the knife have to. Any suggestions?

Called bobs just a few minutes ago and the request for revision was approved! I am truly feeling excited and blessed. The rest of my life is about to begin.

  18. I have a lap band that I got nearly 10 years ago. It's been non-fuctioning for virtually all of that time (all but about four months). Anyway, my surgeon initially told me that he could do the two procedures (removal of band and the sleeve) in one procedure UNLESS I had really bad scar tissue, in which case he'd have to just remove the band, let it heal, and do the sleeve as a separate procedure. I really thought I had taken that in and understood that, but as I now sit here two weeks from my operation, I'm getting fretful. I had my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon today and today he was like "It's more likely than not that you will not get your sleeve at…

After nearly 4 years of having my band, I was told by my surgeon that we need to take it out. I was told this just a week and a half ago, on the 9th. My removal, with possible sleeve revision will take place on the 4th. I spent the entire day yesterday at Kaiser. Blood work the day before, EKG, chest x-ray, meet w/my surgeon, 3 hour orientation class, etc. Today was admitted via hone and paid my co-pay for surgery. I only have the phone call with the pre-op medical history doc on Tuesday AM. I start my 2 week, 800cal/day, Protein only diet on Monday. I'm hardly eating at this point so not too worried about it. Only issue is right now it's junk that I'm eating, b/c it …

Just Really happy today because I fit into a seat at the movies. I used to make my kids share space by lifting the arms. Today I just fit nicely. It was also refreshing not to be overly consuming popcorn and then large quantiies of Diet soda that make you have to make a potty run in the middle. Never was so comfortable just watching. What about you?

I exercise every day , get at least 70 grams of protein in and 60+ oz of water. what the crap! I don't expect to lose a lot every day but I was hoping it would steadily keep moving down. Had my sleeve on May 9th. I've had very little pain other than gas pains. This evening, I threw up after taking my vitamins. It didn't hurt. However, tonight I was woken up with severe abdominal pain. Thinking it was gas, I walked laps in my yard but nothing happened. Two hours later, I can't move due to the severe pain. It's right above my belly button. Any suggestions?

I don't have a date scheduled yet and its keeping me up at night. I'm excited, nervous, eager.........and awake! I find sleeping is exceptionally difficult right now. I'm having surgery at the Oregon Weight Loss Center with Emma Patterson. I can't wait to have my surgery scheduled. I'm ready to get this done and start my new life.

I think I have found one that works. With 4 herniated discs land exercises can be painful, even yoga. But I have been working with my trainer doing my workout in the pool. I'm amazed what I can do in the water that I couldn't do on land. An hour workout - twice the resistance + 1/4 the pain = I can do that !

I did find myself getting a little bit shakey after doing certain things but that was from just not having anything in my system. I found that around day 4 post op i was already feeling a bit hungry. Once i started the full protein liquids the hunger subsided a little. Now I am on the 2 week full protein liqiud diet.Today I am 8 days post op and feeling great. I pictured being scolded for a decade of poor choices, failed diets and lack of enough exercise. I was afraid I would just be looked at as lazy for not losing the weight on my own. It was beyond the exact opposite of what I'd envisioned. She was sweet, caring, understanding, and encouraging. We wrote down my goals, and she said she can see me losing my first 100 pounds in the first year after surgery! She seemed to know exactly how to explain how my quality of life will change after surgery as it applied to ME (being able to ride roller coasters, keeping up with my dau…

Hi everyone!! I would love a buddy (or 5 LOL) to help get through this journey. I am pre-op, tentatively getting sleeved in July/August. I'm in the Chicago area, am in my early thirties, married with two children. My friends say I'm pretty funny and I consider myself a great listener. I'd love someone local, but I'm at a computer all day and live on my phone so that's not a big deal. We can totally text, email, etc. If possible, I'd love for the person to have lost or need to lose 150+ pounds just because I'd like them to relate on that level. If you're just starting off, great! We can motivate each other! :-) Thanks!

  34. I think about the surgery off and on all day but this made me giggle at myself. I've watched so many videos of the surgery procedure, etc. That when I saw the stomach on this picture, it made me think of the surgery. And I envision three fourths of it being cut off, ha ha

Yay! {{{doing the happy dance}}} I called today to find out that I have been approved and set my surgery date for June 27th. I was offered earlier in June, but my kindy students and my pre-school daughter have end of year activities and graduations that I just don't want to miss. So I took the June 27th date. Then I came home from work to find the letter of approval from the insurance company. GO ME!!!!!!!!!

  37. I have not been sleeved. I believe I will sometime in the future. I am worried about the obvious as I also have an added bonus of not being insured for this procedure which means self pay. So probably then to Mexico I go. I am not looking for doctor bashing or anything like that. And obviously those of you have suffered greatly or know someone who has, youre in my thoughts and I wish you to be better. My questions: In the beginning, Did you follow all the recomended precautions like the liquid diets a few weeks ahead and then Clear liquids? Did you do pre op and post op test? Did your dr. check over for leaks, if so when? Did you follow the reccomended liquid die…

I did not check my mobile phone messages yesterday afternoon until this morning - and lo and behold the surgery coordinator had left four messages telling me they have to reschedule my monday morning surgery. I went in for my hospital run dow appointment this morning, had another blood draw, an ekg, and they gave me my pre-sugery soap and stopped by after - thank goodness it will be the same day, just in the afternoon rather than the early, early morning. It is so funny how fixated I have become on the date of May 21st - we even clump together in our support group meetings, those of us who get our surgeries on the same date. I am glad I am still May 21 haha. And an up…

There is a limit of 2 but my Costco let me keep my coupon so I can reuse it should I want more. Also, if you didn't get the coupons, go to Customer Service. They will give you another booklet with them all on there. Also, there is a coupon in there for gummie Vitamins. I think it was for $2.50 or $3.00 off.

I made the decision to keep my sleeve a secret from everyone but my husband and sister (who was sleeved at the same time). I have been doing really well and feeling so good these past 2 months, I feel really guilty when I see overweight friends or friends of friends. It's like I discovered the cure for cancer and I'm keeping it to myself! I went to MX because I had a low BMI & no co-morbidities,so insurance was not an option. Maybe one day when I reach my goal I will feel comfortable sharing the truth.

Well had my sleeve on May3. Ended up staying in the hostpital an extra day due to swelling and unable to hold down fluids. Went back to the doctor on Friday. Did not like how my fluid intake was coming along. Ended up back at the doctor on Monday so dehydrated. Dr. sent me for a couple bags of fluids. Went back to doctor the today and fluid levels no better. He put me back in the hospital for a few days so they can get the swelling to go down and my fluids up. Please keep me in your prayers that the swelling in my tummy will start to subside and I will actually be able to hold down some fluids. on a happy note I have lost 24 pounds : )
