Has anyone had a revision at Oschners by any chance....if so, which doctor did you use...any recommendations for a really good doctor that you know has fixed problems?

I had an open Gastric Bypass back in 2001 when my weight was 235lbs. After 1+ years I weighed about 120lbs, but over the years since the surgery, I have gained almost 70 lbs. Considering sleeve to bypass revision primarily for severe GERd. Regained 30lbs of 90lb loss so that’s not the issue, but on multiple meds for reflux. Anyone had revision for that reason and was it worth it?

Thursday is to weeks . I’m technically on thick and pureed so I’ve been loading down with protein . I have no issues getting fluid or food in . Down about 13lbs. I started a new job Dec of 2017. My last successful fill was Oct 2017 but my issues started in April of 2018 that lead to the revision. My revision was on Aug 13 and I e been out for 2 weeks. It’s only for one week, but my pay is critical for me to live! The denial on my claim states that the Oct. visit was for my “Condition”. WTF?

I got my surgery date yesterday! I am scheduled for September 10th. I am having a revision from a Gastric Sleeve to Bypass! I had my sleeve 5 years ago. I did really well the first year and lost over 90lbs. I was never able to reach my goal weight and seemed to hit a wall after a year. Hi there! I had sleeve surgery 5 years ago. The first year was great. I did well and didn't have any complications. I lost almost 100lbs in just over a years, but was never able to hit my goal weight. It seemed like as soon as I got to the year mark my body stalled and I wasn't able to lose any more, and it was a struggle not to start gaining. I was eating right an exercising . I can't get my old username to work so I had to create a new account but I used to post on here a lot. A little background on me. I had the gastric sleeve in July 2014. I never felt I had the restriction I was supposed to from this surgery. When everyone else was posting they couldn't eat a whole egg or yogurt, I was thinking are they nuts. TRICARE AND REVISION OR BYPASS SURGERY I'm quite certain this topic in reference to Tricare has been discussed a thousand times but I just can't find the answers I need. When I lived on post in Washington State on Ft. Lewis, I was able to get the Sleeve done. My surgeon assured me if this surgery did not work that in a couple or so years I could get the Gastric Bypass or I may need a revision some day. My bypass revision is Thursday the 9th. Severe reflux is whats making me do the revision, otherwise I would never do it. I started with the band in 2009 (it slipped in 2013 and I revised to a sleeve). Reflux is starting to do damage to my esophagus so before damage is done, I opted for a bypass. I am still waiting on my approval and surgery date, but want to start mentally preparing. my revision is due to reflux and regain Did you have to follow a pre op diet for the revision? is the weight loss slower after a revision? how much can I expect to lose a month? I lost on average 7 lbs monthly with sleeve. was the recovery and post op pain a lot different than the sleeve or about the same? how long was hospital stay? for my sleeve I only stayed over night any other information would greatly be appreciated! thanks in advance!

For those of you that need or have had revision surgery, what do you think was the gateway to the weight gain? What do those undergoing WLS really need to be careful about?

This morning I went into surgery for lapband removal /revision to RnY. When I woke up I learned that, due to the severity of the scar tissue and the time and efforts required to remove it, my surgeon decided it was not safe to complete. I’m receiving amazing care from my nursing team and, while I’m in a bit of shock over the fact that my vision of life ahead is derailed, I am incredibly grateful to have the band out of my body. My hope is that the years of pain and complications I’ve experienced are now over. Whether I can/will proceed with RnY at a later date is yet to be determined. For now, pain meds, clear liquids, and sleep are absolute gifts.

I had a lap band ten years ago , I was successful even through a lot of intolerance. It has slipped and even though I lost 85% of my weight and regained some after triplets 5 years ago I’m still riddled with diabetes etc. so because of the hormonal component the rny is happening on August 9 and band being removed . I had a successful lapband placed in 2012- I'm 5 foot 3 - I went from 230 to 145 lbs. I even went thru a pregnancy and only gained 15-20 lbs or so and instantly lost that after I had my baby. Sorry if this has been asked before. Little background first. I had sleeve 3 years ago and had some GERD prior to surgery. It was well controlled with medication. My surgeon did an upper GI prior to surgery to make sure it was right for me. No hernia found and no damage that was severe enough to switch to bypass. For the first two years after surgery I was on lansoprazole which was controlling the reflux somewhat. Last year, I started having trouble eating. I would have pain and feel like I had a ball sitting in my stomach. I was switched to Protonix and have been on it since. In the recent months the acid has come back. I am schedule for a Sleeve to RNY on Sept 10 for GERD. During my consultation with my surgeon who did my sleeve, he stated that I have polyps. Because of that he going to remove the stomach and the pylorus. Reasoning there is no way for them to monitor post surgery. Has anyone else has to have the stomach removed because of the polyps?

hi all! I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on May 30th, and 6 weeks in I only lost 17 pounds from surgery day so far. preop highest: 260, Surgery Day: 241, CW: 224 Is anyone else having issues? I am getting my 60 g of protein, 64 oz of water, and walking more (maybe 2-3 miles a day). I am getting SO frustrated when I see others at 6 weeks down 20-50 pounds. Any suggestions, or similar issues?

Well, Thursday is the big day. Thursday I go to my first appointment to see about how to get a sleeve revision to a RYN. I don’t know why but I am really not excited about it. When I first considered getting the sleeve, I was really gong ho about surgery. I wasn’t worried at all. Just wanted the surgery to go smoothly and quickly. Now that I am face with needed a RNY revision do to change complications associated with my sleeve, I am just stressed. And a little freaked out. Anyone else feel like this?

My main issue is my stomach being on fire all the way up to my throat. Even drinking water worsens the pain and it's constant pain. Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening? Hello! I need a little help or advice. Had my lapband since 2006. I lost 40 pounds which 30 I've kept off. Since then I've had 2 children. Had many issues with the band. I have an appointment next week with my Dr. I to plan on getting it removed. I'm looking to get Gastric Bypass Surgery. I do know already my insurance will cover it like they did my lapband. My question and concerns are what is the process? Do I have to do all the testing all over again. Is the process the same as getting the lapband approval? Also do they do the lap band removal the same day as the bypass? I'm pretty clueless to this so any info is appreciated . Thanks in advance

I’m nearly a month out from my revision surgery, and I don’t think I am doing well. I feel restriction somewhat, but it’s strange because I rarely feel hungry and/or full. Is this normal? I get so confused because I know I need to eat, but I don’t get hungry. I’m getting in my protein (60g) but not my water (about 32oz vs 64oz), and I started surgery at 240 on May 30th, and I only lost 10 pounds since then. I am finishing up purred stage, and start soft food next week. Is weight loss slower after a revision, am I driving myself mad? I had VSG in Aug 2017. Dr says I’ll need to have revision due to acid reflux/Barrett’s, etc......Does anyone know what the preop for revision surgery is? Do you still have to do 2 week liquid, etc.....? Just gathering info to make an informed decision. Thx!

Is there anyone out there that got sleeved with a relatively low BMI? I’d dropped to exactly 30 the morning of surgery. Had it been lower it would have been called off. Can I expect to loose my weight as quickly as others, given complete compliance (which I have maintained to the letter), or will it take me longer because I have less to lose. I had gastric bypass in 2006. I lost 90lbs not the total amount I wanted to loose. Well, its been 12 years later and within the last 2 years I have gained almost 50 lbs. I have been approved for a revision due to the fact that my connection between my pouch and small intestines has stretched. Has anyone had this revision done and if so how is it going. Help!! I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Highmark after having a revision. I am looking to have a band to sleeve revision but I am concerned that it may possibly not be covered due to my current BMI which is 35. According to my plan coverage it states it will be covered at 35 with at least 1 co morbidity if there was failure to lose weight or complications which I fit. My concern is the co morbidities. I have had sleep apnea when I was diagnosed prior to banding 5 years ago but unsure if I do currently .. although my husband and kids say I am snoring really loud now again.. but I haven’t had and new sleep studies. HI everyone. I've had a revision from Lapband (had it for 8 years with 110 pounds (50 kg) total loss. In 2016 the band slipped and needed to be removed. Because of the slipage it had to be opened and I gained 40 pounds. Last July 2017 I had the revision to a Mini Bypass. now 10 months later, I am still struggling with the stalls. I've lost the 40 pounds plus a bit and nothing more!! I must confess that I am happy that I am off all medicines (no more diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure). I just had my revision from sleeve to RNY yesterday. Surgeon said all went well and I am home. Have no problem with fluids but now just started drinking protein which is ok. I am keeping a log of everything I drink. I am having a lot of back pain. But I know how hard the operating table is and hospital beds suck. And it’s so hard for me to get comfortable here at home. I had lap-band to sleeve surgery April 9, 2018. My original lap band was successful for about 2 years, then it broke somehow and needed to be replaced. Before the replacement, I began vomiting and having daily reflux. I also felt a constant poking pain in my rib cage whenever I exercised. I'll skip the formalities. I had the sleeve in June of 2016. I initially lost a considerable heft getting down to 225 lbs (heaviest was 300). After some time, I gained back about 20 pounds and have been consistent ever since (this past month I've gained a little more still which is severely depressing). I don't feel I eat ridiculously and I did a food diary and my calorie intake isn't excessive, averaging around 1900ish calories which is closer to the goals of a young woman versus a young man such as myself. I had a vsg in June of 2013. Prior to surgery, I lost just over 40 pounds (over about a 6-7 month period) and lost about 40 pounds within the 4 months post-op. At that point, I had my gallbladder removed and then it took about a year to lose another 10 pounds or so. My lowest was about 50-55 pounds from surgery weight and around 90 from my highest. Over the past year-year 1/2, I have gained back about 40 of the 50-55 lost since surgery. Can I please talk to anyone out there who has had the revision done from gastroplasty to bypass that has been left with a marble sized stomach? I don't need to hear from anyone that has had the sleeve or anything other than an actual revision that best case scenario leave me a marble sized stomach. How are you eating, what are you eating, how much, how often etc...My Doctor gives this to me as best case scenario and I am shocked as I don't know how life can be sustained with that size of stomach, thanks
