I finally won my appeal and will be getting my revision on Tuesday the 7th. I had the sleeve in 01/13 with minimal success and immediate post-op and even during surgery I had complications. My recovery wasn't like others, I couldn't get up, needed help, walking short steps killed me and I couldn't sleep properly for over a month. To be fair, I've been sick since I was 8yo and am the queen of complications (I've had 3 in the last few months). Any thoughts on what to expect for the revision? How much different will it be? Hey all! Using my daughter's account because it was already logged in. I am 60 years old and have had my band for 8 years with no problems. SW was 256 and CW is 180. I never really had any of the typical complications associated with the lap band. However, finding that "sweet spot" has never been easy. My port needs to be replaced, not the band, just the port. Yesterday, I saw my daughter's surgeon (she had a sleeve in Dec) and he asked me if I had ever considered converting to a sleeve. So my question is, if you had a lapand that was fairly successful and am happy where I am, what would you do?

Hello, everyone. I am a long time stalker, first time poster of this forum. I got the lap band in 2012 at 302 pounds (my heaviest ever, at the time.) After getting banded, I lost 35 pounds but I had to fight for every ounce to come off. I never felt like I was in the ‘green zone’ that the clinic continually talked about. I went in religiously for fills but never felt like I could eat small portions only three times a day and be satisfied. I even questioned my sanity and if head hunger really had that much control over me. Hello I'm located in Dutchess County N.Y. I have had the lap-band since May 2013 I have not been successful. I went down to 178lbs but then regained 22lbs back. I am now going to have a sleeve revision I pray to God it works I am so nervous I don't want to fail. The lap-band will be removed March 2nd and I have to wait 8 weeks to have revision I'm so scared of the weight I will gain in between any suggestions?

I was sleeved in December 2011, revised to bypass in Aug 2014 due to weight gain and acid reflux. And going for revision surgery in March 2017. The revision is for rapid gastric emptying. My pouch has not stretched at all. Has anyone had this?

Hi all. I have had a lap band since 3/2009. Although I have maintained a 70 pound weight loss, the band has been progressively tightened to the point that now I have esophagus irritation so it has been determined to be "failed" and now I need it removed. I started my journey at 320 pounds, and now I am at 250. Goal weight 180 pounds. On Monday I head into surgery to have the band removed (it has been released for two months) and a gastric bypass performed. Hello, I just finished my 6 months of medically supervised weight loss (hoop to jump through for insurance). I was banded in December 2007 and lost 100 lbs. My band was great at first but I began having problems with my band after about 3.5 years. I had horrible reflux and slowly ended up with almost all my Fluid removed and gaining back all but 25 lbs. I am very excited about having my band removed. My surgeon has recommended the bypass and says it's the safer option after having a band. I am OK with that and after reading more! I went for my final doctor appointment before my surgery on July 22nd today. My insurance has approved me for band to sleeve revision all in one surgery. I remember my doctor mentioning when we first discussed revision surgery that it is done in one surgery unless there is a lot of scar tissue or something. After having my Lap-Band in for 8 years with issue after issue and 2 babies I had it taken out Sept 1st. My surgeon was "hopeful" that Priority Health, sticklers for sticking my by their "One surgery per lifetime" policy would approve a 2nd surgery. I was so excited to go under the knife 2 weeks ago for my band to sleeve revision. My surgeon told me there would be a 15% chance that he would only take out the band, if there was too much scar tissue he wouldn't be able to do the sleeve in the same surgery. Unfortunately, I was in the 15%. I woke up and was utterly disappointed. Now I have to wait 3 months to let my stomach heal from all the inflammation that was where my band was. The surgeon said he "feels pretty confident" he can still do the sleeve. Has anyone gone through this? I'm just so down about all of this, and of course all I want to do is overeat. :-(

I had my band converted to a sleeve 6 mos ago. The only weight I've lost was during the "prep" leading up to surgery. I do not feel restricted in any way and am able to eat more than I ever did with my band. I'm hungry even after having finished a meal 15 minutes prior. I'm nauseated from trying not to eat more "than I should be able to". My question is related to revisions after having a lap band to sleeve conversion; have any of you had a band out over your sleeve? If so, do you feel restricted?

Hi all, I've been slowly but surely getting closer to my goal of 150-160. Sunday marked 18 months since my revision. It was not a walk in the park, but completely worth it. I have PCOS, and the insulin resistance was making it virtually impossible to lose weight. I've got a few other posts out there with pictures documenting my progress over time. I was sleeved in 12/2012 and converted to bypass on 8/14. I went from 240-lowest 166. In July I was 166 using phentermine but have since gained 17 lbs since July. Had an upper GI don't and the area btwn small bowel and stomach has stretched. I go back in 1/25 to discuss options bc of cravings and weight gain. I feel like a failure. Who has 2 weight lose surgeries and can't maintain. I do eat fairly well and work out 5 days a week. I also had twins in oct 2015 so I'm always busy!! Any questions, comments or concerns welcome! Hello all, I just had a revision done on Monday Jan 9th from a sleeve to a bypass. I am on a full liquid diet for the next 7 to 14 days. I am a little concerned about not having any feeling of hunger or fullness when eating or drinking. occasionally I can hear and feel the liquid drip down into my new pouch. I keep seeing people say lapband to sleeve revision patients lose weight slower than just sleevers. Im getting revised in December. Some questions I have for those people are 1.) Did you gain most or all of your band weight back before sleeve surgery 2.) How long did you stay significantly overweight before you decided on the sleeve 3.) No better place to ask than to ask those that know. I had the lapband for 8 years. It had to be removed by emergency surgery 4 years ago due to my stomach coming up and over the band. When they removed it the doctor said I had extensive scar tissue from where the band was. I can definitely say that the scar tissue is still there and that it sometimes feels like I even still have the lapband when I don't. I am thinking about possibly getting the sleeve and tried researching only to come up with nothing. I spoke to a nurse who told me a horrifying story about a 30 year old who had revision surgery later on after her last surgery and died on the table. Is it too late…

I had the lap band to sleeve revision surgery. Ever since I had the first surgery I've been experiencing a compression and cramping pain in the middle of my abdominal. If I sit on a chair it will get worse within the hour. The thing is I contacted my lap band doctor and he told me that there was nothing wrong. They did an upper GI and apparently there was nothing wrong with it. I have a feeling it has something to do with my abdominal muscle because I can feel it in my back sometimes also. I dunno what to do now because he didn't find anything and I may go get this checked out. I really don't think it is just my imagination because this doesn't feel normal.

I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery 2 1/2 years ago and I lost 70 pounds. I've kept the weight off and love my sleeve but I suffer from severe Acid Reflux. My doctor has advised that I need a revision to the RNY. Has anybody else had this??? I'm scared about having surgery again and starting all over again. Is the weight loss similar to what it was at the beginning of the sleeve? Is eating more difficult with the RNY? I don't know what to expect and I'm getting a bit nervous. Had a revision from sleeve to bypass 11/9. Had bleeding complications so was in only liquids for first 14 days. Once I went to soft foods, I completely stalled! Have lost nothing for 6 days!!! Is this normal? I didn't stall until 7 months out with my sleeve and lost 5-6 lbs at a time. Now it's like 1-2 at a time. Down 19 lbs, but hoping this isn't it?! I've been searching the forums and can't see any posts about anybody having a revision of their sleeve. I had VSG 3/2013 and got down to 142 for 2 years, and then the weight has started creeping up again, and I'm now at 170. I've tried doing Protein shakes, but it's not slowing down. I had been drinking iced lattes, and I cut them out so I'm not drinking my calories. I still have some restriction, but my appetite is like before the surgery. I had revision from bad to sleeve on Nov 14th. Since then I've ONLY lost 2.6 lbs. even though I have not been taking in much of anything. And I GRATEFUL for that lost, just don't understand why it's not more. Also, I am Extremely Bloated, which also restricts my intake. Can anyone explain? Hello! Sleeved on 11/8. Did any of you with a band to sleeve have a hiatal hernia?? Mine was fixed and so was my dilated esophagus. I needed to wait a year to get my esophagus back to the way it was. I know my insides are still a bit swollen from everything, but did any of you have a hard time keeping things down at first like when you had the band?
