I was banded 3 years ago. I had a lower BMI when I started and have had successful weight loss, my BMI is currently a 26, so I am very close to normal. I have had numerous fills and unfills over the last three years. It seems like every time I was in the green zone, I would get too tight and be unable to keep anything down until I had an unfill. My band has been high maintenance. I started having night time reflux so I had all the Fluid removed, then an upper GI. The upper GI revealed a slip in my band. That was 3 months ago and I had another upper GI to see if it had fixed itself. Unfortunately it did not, and now I notice that I am uncomfortably tight (without any fl…

I had a revision surgery on the 4th of February from sleeve to bypass due to bile reflux. I keep losing weight and I think I look sick smaller...and darn it I wish I could stop throwing up and having fatigue. My nerves are shot I'm constantly depressed more than before. My senses have gotten more sensitive. I'm wishing now I just stuck with the sleeve. I have been in the hospital 3 days due to low Vitamins...potassium, magnesium and was dehydrated. I had my lap band surgery in 2010. Over the last two years I have had nothing but issue after issue with my band. Horrible reflux, stomach pain, vomiting etc. solid is now a nightmare. I would love to get this band out of me, but would definitely want a revision to gastric bypass. Has anyone had issues and/or success with highmark bcbs in PA? I had to have my band removed due to a slip and at the time I was down to goal weight and my surgeon said I no longer qualified after saying I had the option for the sleeve. I had even started going through the process of getting the sleeve after I finished healing. I now live in another state and want to get my sleeve. Even though working out 5 times a week and eating healthy food I still have the issue I started with when I got my band in 2010....I'm always hungry and can't portion control. Hi all! I'm going for my first consultation with to see if I'm eligible to have a revision surgery from Lapband to Sleeve and I'm concerned about my BMI. Right now, my BMI is 34, and I know my insurance will cover the surgery if the revision is medically necessary. I'm having the worst experience with the band (chest pain, GERD, stuck with everything, vomiting, etc). Has anyone have the 2 step revision process: 1st surgery band removed & then had to wait 6 weeks to the RNY? How fast was your recovery from having the band removed? Hi. I am new to the site and was wondering if anyone has had the Lap Band over Bypass revision surgery. If so, how as it been? I am scheduled to have this procedure done in 2 weeks.

I had my initial RYGB in September of 2003. My highest weight I was around 385. In the course of the first year I went down to 200 lbs. I was so excited and I thought I had found the magic pill and that I would keep losing. I platitude and then got pregnant with my son. The years later I had my daughter. For the next few years I went up and down between 240-275. I began to have complications and in and out of hospitals. I had a perforated ulcer, a hernia and small revisions to my pouch. Trimming down helped a little then I had more ulcers. Always in the same spot where the main connection to the pouch. Finally after a lengthy FMLA I lost my job and stayed immobile…

I was wondering if I should look into the sleeve. Also, the dr I go to in Central IL only does banding. How would I go about looking into a different dr to do the gastric sleeve? My band has slipped twice in the past 2 years, that is why the surgery to move the band. Anyone have experience with changing doctors? Or can recommend a sleeve dr in the area?? Thanks!!!

I had VSG in May of this year. I had a wonderful experience. I have lost 53 lbs and could not be happier with my sleeve. Due to my success, and seeming ease of recuperation (overall, that is), my husband decided to have the surgery in August. He has had nothing but problems. He has never been able to keep any food or Water down. He constantly throws up anything he takes in, including Vitamins and medications. It is not nausea--it is an inability to digest anything. So I had been posting in Fill and Refill.... wondering why I was gaining and NOT feeling full. I kept a food diary and have worked out 2 hours a day at a high cardio and physical level. So... AM I LOSING MY MIND? My last visit this week to the Dr and while I should have 7.5cc in my band ( i kept track).... he withdrew LESS than 3cc. Big Alarms going off..... so now we have to go and a Fluoroscopy to see if there is a leak, band slippage..... etc. So... has anyone had this ? What do you expect? Could it be as simple as a tube replacement? So many questions.... and all of this must happen BEFORE the end of the year. UGH!

I would go days without even keeping water down then one day I could eat anything but back to nothing the next day. I finally was miserable enough to get a consult and my band had slipped. I am definitely feeling a bit discouraged right now. I've had the gastric band since January 2011. Since the very beginning, I've had the throwing up/regurgitating. It doesn't matter what I eat. If I have any restriction at all, I'm throwing up 2-3 times per day. My current surgeon (not the one who did the surgery) also said according to the X-ray, my band is slightly higher than it should be, but not technically "out of place". They had to loosen my band, and since then (2 months ago), I've gained about 15-20lbs back. My HW 300, SW 290, LW 220, and CW 270. My surgeon said he'd do everything he can to help me. Hi Everyone! I'm just curious about how many of you were able to have your band removed and converted to a sleeve in one surgery or if you had to have two separate surgeries. Also, did any of your surgeons say they have a preference? My surgeon says he prefers to complete everything in one surgery assuming they're are no complications or major scar tissue. Can I really do this???? My HW was 337 and I'm hoping to get down to at least 150, but my personal goal is 130. That seems IMPOSSIBLE. I'm so worried that I can't do it!! Hi! I'm new, this is my first post. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2005. I lost about 100 lbs and have since gained it back plus a couple extra. Last year I made the decision to have a revision surgery. I have been having the hardest time finding people who have had revision to their gastric bypass surgery. Is there anyone who has had to have a revision to an arm lift. I had one last year and while it is significantly better, it's still bad. The dr. said he can do it again but that the skin is so stretched that while it will be better it won't be perfect. He said the scar tissue shouldn't be an issue. I always heard working around scar tissue is difficult. Before and After pictures - thoughts? Would you do it again? (he said he would do it for free if I had lipo on the thighs which I had been thinking about) (see other post on flabby thighs)

Hello my name is jeanell and back in March of 2005 I had RNY surgery in Denver, CO. My doctor was Michael A. Snyder. I lost a total of 110lbs but gradually started gaining 5yrs post op. I started noticing that food was causing digestive issues no matter if it was healthy or not and I was getting no Satiety with food. The symptoms got worse and exercise and diet was not stopping my weight gain. I finally decided to go back to my surgeon 10yrs pot-op and after gaining 60lbs. Hello all - I'm new to the site and have been reading through the forums... Has anyone that's had an open RNY surgery had to have a revision years later? I had my original surgery March 2002, started at 268 pounds, lost 132 pounds and slowly have regained 70ish pounds. I've lost and gained the last 15 pounds several times. I can eat mashed potatoes today and be fine and in two days warm up the leftovers and dump like crazy so my digestion is totally unpredictable. I did a barium swallow and the Dr determined my stoma reduction didn't hold from the original surgery so he's going in endoscopic to cinch the stoma that's about an inch wide now down to 1cm. Hello everyone.. Dec 12,2014 I had the sleeve done , I lost 50 lbs total , I am still 100 lbs overweight at 5"4 and 245lbs . My Dr and I have talked about revision to a bypass , but I would like to know if anyone did this and lost a lot more weight, also if your insurance covered the 2nd surgery.

I just want to say that I'm so thrilled with my decision to go with a revision and I wonder why I even bothered with the lap band in the first place.. Because I didn't want to be internally altered... Like many of you, I suffered more from the band (and what it was doing to me - cutting into my liver) then from the alterations that have been made to my body by switching to bypass. I can now actually eat good foods - salad and Protein - and not throw up or be in pain. Surgery on 10/5/15 and 3 months later down 46 pounds. Awesome!

band to revision in 3 wks, scared about complications after reading posts, dont have any dieting, surgeon said to maintain 35 BMI. my family and friends are trying to talk me out of it telling me i only have 50 to 60 pounds and should me able to do it on my own, feel shame that i can't, excited but scared too, afraid i wont be able to drink 96 oz daily.

Long story Short -- I had VSG 5/2013. I successfully lost 125 pounds. Not giving excuses just giving background, I was a self pay patient; and my surgery was scheduled and about two weeks later found out my step-daughter was taken from her mom and put in foster care. Everything was paid and I could not back out, so I proceeded with surgery. I have read of surgeons doing the sips surgery and the patient thinking they were getting the traditional ds but didn't have a clue when it was done to me!! I'm new here and just had revision from sleeve to sips Dec 20. I have my post-op tomorrow, dreading it and looking forward to expressing my opinion on the surgery though too. I was supposed to get the traditional DS but the resident decided he was doing the sips which, even though he said we discussed it previously we did not so had to be a different person. for those of you who had the band and then went to the sleeve, did you have any problems with the sleeve? my band is coming out and i'm getting the sleeve procedure done next month. i've seen a few posts where people talk about leaks, and now i'm nervous. i dont really know ALL there is to know about the sleeve yet. i'm still in the pre-op process with my surgeon. are problems a common thing with the sleeve or a low amt like with the band? help ease my mind! i have a 3 year old little boy that needs me to come through this problem free!

Hi all. I originally had my surgery in TJ, Mexico February 23,2013 starting weight was 255lbs. I lost weight till about September 23,2013 my weight was around 184-181lbs stable. I remained and Maintained that weight till September 2014. I lost about another 10lbs. The lowest I was around 170 or 169lbs. I know I had no restrictions eating what so ever. Hello all...I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve revision to gastric bypass tomorrow because of extreme gerd/reflux and every other option has not worked. I was sleeved originally December 13, 2012, have lost 58.6 pounds and have had several complications/procedures done since then. I am just over 2 years out from my vertical sleeve. I've lost a total of 140 pounds and have been maintaining for the past 12 months. I had a stricture at the top of my sleeve approximately 16 months ago and had an EGD with dilation that helped. I was banded 8 years ago by a very prominent bariatric surgeon here in Oregon. I started out at 376 pounds. I have ALWAYS had ban issues that mostly centered on vomiting, sliming etc. long story short, in 2014 I started having such reflux problems that I was awakened every night with vomit coming out of my nose. Originally thought I had a kidney infection, nope just my band majorly slipping and a lovely case of GERD that lead to Barrett's. I've been reading a lot of posts that state revision patients lose slower. Is this your experience? Why do you think revision patients lose slower? What is the science behind it. I just don't understand why I wouldn't have the same results as any other RNY patient.

I had lapband on 5/29/2013. did great first year. lost 81 lbs. but last july the band slipped a tiny bit which caused constant reflux. the reflux killed my esophagus. the final year I was unfilled and every attempt to put some fill in caused my esophagus to spasm. my doctor decided on the revision and I was certainly up for it. post op I have done remarkably well. no complications at all. not even the gas. I had my revision from band to sleeve on 17 Dec night- the pain is in the band area of the pouch. I'm day four almost and my pain is deep. I also see some virginal bleeding with mocus- is that Normal? I'm also worried about my fluid intake I seem to be sipping normally little by little but it goes through?
