  1. Well ... I was going to use Dr Teixiera but was told Dr Dennis Smith in celebration FL was better ... I'm A Lil Confused.
  2. Not this time : ) my insurance now with my current job will cover it so I'm staying stateside
  3. Hi guys ... I am new to the DS forum. I had the sleeve done in April 2013, self pay in MX. No issues except I should probably have paid for the bypass but since I was self pay I couldnt afford it at that time. I started out over 325 lbs so I had more than the average sleever to lose. I am now looking to have a revision to DS. I now have insurance coverage so I am beginning the process. My total loss with the sleeve was 90 lbs and I have gained 20 lbs back .... struggling with bad choices, grazing and even less time to work out often ... I work FT, attend law school classes part time evenings 4 nights per week, married and have a 9 yr old.
  4. Scarbedazzles ... Ur gonna be just fine !! I had a great experience with Dr Rod !! No complications. Joanne was also my coordinator and she's darling. You will have excellent results !!
  5. Oh, down 50 lbs since 04/13/13 and aiming to drop 10 more by 08/01/13 !!
  6. Rocilore33 ... Hard to say how many per day Dr Rod does but he's good at what he does !! I had mine done 04/26/13 and no complications. Good experience overall with Belite Dr. Rod , Dr. Elmo & the anesthesiologist (lady Dr, real good too). You are gonna be fine !!
  7. Hi Brownie, U have nothing to worry about !! I had mine with Dr Rod at INT 04/26/13. Overall a good experience. The day shift nurses and all the Drs speak good English. The night ones may have a harder time communicating but they know what to do and your meds etc. I was a lil nervous but it was a good experience. You have ur own room n it's only 10 rooms per floor I think. Email me at giffojess@gmail if u have further questions ... Take care n good luck !

  9. Morning ladies !! I'm in a similar boat ... Hubby does not know my weight n maybe post op I will tell him what my heaviest was. He loves me for me & is a big supporter. I've always been heavy but gained with my pregnancy n more after. I've always been very anal about personal hygiene; I shower 2x per day, always smell good, dressed nicely regardless of size & kept up with my hair n nails cause I didn't want to give big girls a bad wrap. WLS is an investment to find me & my self-esteem again. Plus I wanna be healthy for my son & any more kids we have. We will get thru this !!!
  10. This is a decision that's based on the people in ur life. If u have supportive folks who know your struggles then tell who ur comfy with. Only my hubby & 2 cleanest female friends know. I have a co-worker I would love to share with as we used to workout together, but she's very against any WLS. Granted, she's 100+ lbs overweight. I can't lose all my weight thru just diet n excercise so I chose WLS as a permanent tool to help me achieve my goal.
  11. I also have employer Cigna coverage which they did not have an allocation for WLS. I'm wondering if they will cover the skin removal once I'm done losing ...
  12. @ makemyownluck , Same here with time off. I've taken the time I need, nobody at work knows cause I decided not to say a word. I'm self-pay n so it's my choice, I don't need opinions unless they chipping in on the cost !? 3 people in my life know: hubby, my 2 closest BFF's (1 was sleeved in 10/2012).
  13. That's so awesome you spoke up for us "big girls" who do have jobs, husbands or partners and kids plus a life full of normal things ALL people do not just fat people !!
  14. @ mmlucas77, what's ur email address so that we can communicate before we leave ? Mine is giffojess@gmail.com
  15. @JillianMarie73, Yes u will do fine !! I'm sure u may find a sleeve buddy prior to ur going.
