Hi all! was sleeved back on 11-12-13. Sw 257lbs, Reached goal of 150 at 14 months out (January 2015)....got pregnant literally less than a week later. Baby girl is almost 2 now. Since my surgery I have suffered from reflux and its gotten continually worse to the point I feel like my inside are literally on fire. I also have no restriction whatsoever since my pregnancy and have managed to get back up to 185. I had an esophagram done may 5th and my surgeon wants to revise me to RNY sometime this month. They have already submitted to my insurance and I am just waiting for my approval. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. so happy to get relief from the reflux…

Hi all. I've been banded since 2005, lost 100 lbs the first year then stopped due to multiple mechanical issues. I had the Port replaced, then the tube replaced, and I never got back to that sweet spot and floated on 20 lbs fluctuations for the next 5 years. I then got pregnant and my band disconnected at month 4. I remember the feeling of my band unfilling completely and thought "oh sh*t." I gained 60 lbs in 6 months, had a new band replaced in feb 2013, then proceded to get myself pregnant again before my first fill in May. Well that that baby is now 3 and I am gaining. I've gotten fills and lost 30 lbs but then suddenly had night time regurgitation, unable to eat,…

Hi. I posted before about being nervous and my wife being worried. I had some anxiety about this a few weeks back. Fairly calm this week. 2 day to surgery. My wife asked if I'm sure. Currently I'm 10 lbs from lowest band weight at 248. Was 300 when banded. Its hard to get excited as band is empty no issues but starving on this pre-op diet and this is what it takes to start loosing and I know without something it's impossible to keep off. I have done ok with the band but so many issues non with it empty. Guess I'm looking for some encouragement. At 6'. 248 your acceptable. But with bad knees and family history of diabetes i know getting thinner will help. Anyo…

I just looked at my BCBS Site and the bill for my revision on May 5th was in. the Total was 42K and the Approved amount BCBS Paid was $27,500 I really didn't think it would have been that much ! And I am not yet sure if the Surgeon Cost is in there. With all the Testing for this we meet my $10,000 out of pocket max for the year as my ins runs Nov toNov. My Dr also does original Sleeves now for $9,999.99 in surgical center .

I thought I wanted to have the sleeve procedure (that's what I requested to be approved for and was) and after doing a lot of research, wondering if I should go with full bypass. Years ago I had lapband - I was very successful, lost weight quickly and the golden child for my surgeons office. The one issue I had as I kept filling the band, terrible reflux. I was 10 lbs from my goal weight and researching plastic surgereons. Unfortunately the reflux got so bad that I had pneumonia for several months and I was finally forced to totally un-fill the band. I had to wait 3 to 4 months before I restarted fills. I was never able to get back to the amount I had in the band previou…

Soooo....I *supposedly* had revision from sleeve to bypass on April 3rd. I started my post op week 5 yesterday. I have only lost 13lbs. I have no restriction and can eat anything. I can chug liquids...no problem. My sleeve had developed into a hiatal hernia and created a pouch that the dr removed. Aside from the pain from the incisions and sutured muscles, I feel nothing. I have asked the dr repeatedly was he sure that he did the bypass and he said yes. I am staying under 1000 calories, low carbs and getting in my protein. My liquids are at about 55oz. I just looked at my Upper GI report from after surgery and I am thinking about calling the radiology dept to confirm th…

I'm close to making a decision to go through the revision surgery. I am concerned that I'm doing this somewhat late in the game. Is there anyone over 50 or 60 that has done it? I'm healthy, but I'm also 61 and wondering if I've lost my mind for even considering this!

I just had my band to bypass done 4/26 and spent 5 days in the hospital. It has been very uncomfortable to take deep breathes or talk for long periods of time ... my stomach still does seem inflated a bit with gas but I just wanted to see if this was something that had happened with any of you ?

Hi guys, I am having revisional surgery from gastric band to mini gastric bypass. Do you have any tips and tricks to help the transition? Will there even be a transition as I do have some restriction with my band already. I don't know what to expect whatsoever. I had no pain after my band surgery, is there a lot of pain after the mini bypass surgery? Anyone that has any tips and tricks with regards to anything, I will be very grateful.

This is a shot in the dark but I really need to find information so here goes.... First off.. HI EVERYONE!! In 1995 I had the "molina band" WLS (I believe Dr. Oria still uses this band to date but was in training when I had mine put on). (Here is the website for it.. http://www.thewatson...machbanding.htm) I weighed in at 285 and got down to around 160-70 in about a year or two. I have yo-yo'd with my weight for the last 13 years and am now sitting at 210 and feel like I am gaining daily. I have lived with this band and all that goes with it for 16 years. It is time for a change!!! I am looking for ANYONE that has or knows someone that had this band and now has a s…

I have been banded for about 7 years. no problems until last year. I am having some tests done to see if i have band erosion. I know how the band works, I guess the sleeve is the next option if I have to have it removed. i want to go with the least extreme option. How does the sleeve work? Would you feel full like with a band? With the band, after 4-5 bites it feels like if I east one more bite it will be coming back up. Not sure what to expect from a sleeve. I am 69 and dont want to do anything drastic. Thank you DA

Hey guys, it's been a while! I am here to do a public walk of shame and to admit that maybe the band wasn't the best choice for me. I'm about 4 years post-op and had great results until the first time I got the stomach flu about a year ago. Having the flu meant that I was constantly nauseated and throwing up, so to prevent any damage I had 1cc removed from my band. So I went from being in the green zone and losing/maintaining very efficiently to gaining - quickly. I went to get the Fluid replaced but I could never find my "sweet spot" again - either it was too tight, or not tight enough. Long story short, I've basically gained back all the weight I lost. I have sch…

Pasta, red meat, or rice. Some ppl can and others cant. There's no guarantees which one you will fall into. I will lose weight. But I won't be able to eat like a normal person ever again even in moderation. 2) Acid reflux is a serious issue with the sleeve. I never ever had an issue with the band. I am dealing with rather bad GERD even though I am taking prescription meds. I have chatted with folks that it got so bad over the yrs that they had to revise to gastric bypass. 3) Vitamins! You can't live without them. Daily intake or I will develop issues. Are committed to do that? 4) NSAIDS! Even if your surgeon tells you that you can take th…

In 2009 I had the RNY bypass. After a year and some and some changed I received news that I was pregnant (October 2010). March of 2011, was the worst day of my life. I delivered my first child at 19 weeks and held him in my arms until he stopped breathing. In deep depression I lost a lot of weight, I then again became extremely happy when I found out I was expecting again. I delivered my first healthy child June of 2012. Then I had my next healthy child November 2013 and my last and third healthy child November 2014. During all these pregnancy I could not manage to check the extra pounds. My lowest weight was roughly 200lbs. I am now 270 and it's my biggest failure. I hav…

I had a band fitted 6 years ago, lost 6 stone but then developed awful reflux. Looked into having the sleeve but was told by my doctor that would still mean reflux & that he would prefer the bypass. At the time he suggested having the band removed as it deflated now anyway (all 6 stone regained) before bypass but I'm a chick n when it comes to surgery so have asked him to remove it at the same time as the bypass - he did say he would but it is makes the surgery a bit more longer & the recover time a bit longer too?? Has anyone had both done at the same time please & what is your experience? Xx

Hello, This is my first post so I'm very new here. I'm having my lapband out this Wednesday and going for the sleeve 5/31/17. I was looking for some advice/information from people who have lived through the whole procedure already. I'm currently 205 and gaining no matter what I do. I'm so stressed out that I'll gain a lot of weight between 3/29 and 5/31 that it's all I can think about! I have PCOS and Insulin Resistance and also, I have my wedding this October. I know I'm smaller than most people who have gotten the sleeve but I've struggled my entire life and I'm ready to get this tool to help me finally succeed, as the band did nothing for me except make me throw up e…

Hi It's been some time since I've been on this site. I was fat my entire life, weight 330 in HS and up and down ever since. Lowest adult weight was College where I got to 225 after starving but never able to keep at a close to normal weight. I was banded in 2009 and like many have had a love hate relationship with my band. Like many it worked but had problems with too much or too little fills. Have had Fluid added and taken out so many times I can't remember. Some issues with Reflux etc. I was 300 when band was placed, lowest was 240, For the last 3-4 years my weight has fluctuated from 250 to 265. Overall I eat well and work out at least 3 x a week, mostly…

So I was banded November 29th last year...it hasn't even been 6 months but I have not lost a pound. I've had 3 fills and really am able to still eat whatever I want. My surgeon and many other doctors have told me that I need to consider revising to the sleeve. I've started that process and I'm just wondering is my insurance actually going to cover this? My surgery wasn't even six months ago! I'm totally down and am jumping right on taking care of the requirements. Any advice for me?? I have blue cross blue shield of Illinois.

The gastric sleeve surgery was the best thing I ever did. I had it in August 2013 and lost over 100 pounds. I have been drinking diet soda and I know that my sleeve has stretched. I have gained 30 pounds back. I am desperate to go back to the way things were. If insurance doesn't cover it which I'm positive they probably won't can I still have revision surgery? Am I eligible at 160 pounds? I just want my sleeve back to the way it was. Or am I eligible for lap band?

I'm looking for anyone who has had a revision or someone who has had a sleeve and lives in Lancaster pa. My surgery will be on March 28th,2016. I'm excited and the good thing is that I know what to expect after wards because I had the gastric bypass in2003. I'm scared because there are serious complications that could arise BUT I believe that everything happens for a reason and somehow I'm going to help others who have give through a gastric bypass reversal and creation of a gastric sleeve. I would love to hear some support. Blessings Sent from my LGLS660 using the BariatricPal App

After 4 months of crossing off requirements for my surgery center and my insurance company I was denied. The reason was one weight loss surgery per lifetime. That sounds pretty final to me. Has anyone else had this happen and then was approved after an appeal? My lapband kept tightening on me and then I would have to get an unfill then refill and repeat. The last time when i was getting refilled I developed GERD and could not get filled to proper restriction because the GERD was too awful. Thank you in advance with any info. Jen

Hello All, I'm looking for a little advice. I was sleeved in August of 2014. I lost about 50 lbs after surgery but then went completely stagnant. I couldn't lose another plan no matter what I did, so in effect, this felt just like another one of those diets where you feel like you are doing everything right and the weight just stops coming off. After several months of losing and gaining back the same 5 lbs, I got lazy and started gaining back. I'm currently back to my starting weight before surgery. Up until recently, I just felt like I failed the WLS fight and that the gain was all my own fault. A few months ago, I started looking into revision in Mexico. Once …

Hi all! I haven't been on in forever. I was sleeved on 7/28/10 so I'm almost 6 years out. I have lost a total of 95lbs and just within the past year gained back 15-20. Lowest weight was 180 and now fluctuate in the high 190s. I have an appt in two weeks to discuss the Overstitch procedure. I had never heard of it until I requested a referral to a bariatric center to discuss a revision to my sleeve. I'm not finding a lot of information so I'm reaching out to see if anyone has this procedure and what their experience has been. I have about 40 more lbs to lose to reach a healthy weight. I absolutely love my sleeve and have had no complications. Feel free to ask any questi…

I was banded in November of 2008. I went from a surgery day weight of 316 to my lowest of 236. About a year and a half ago I started having problems. I could not keep anything down, began experiencing right upper quadrant pain, constant reflux and had to have several unfills/refills. In October of 2015 I found out I had a ulcer, esophagus dilation, hiatal hernia and my band had slipped 3 cm. I have also regained back to almost 300 pounds even though my eating habits have not changed significantly. I found out this morning that my insurance has approved the revision from band to sleeve. I have several friends who have had the sleeve and are doing great but don't know anyon…

I was originally sleeved on March 3, 2016, but I've been having some issues. I saw my surgeon recently for my one year appointment, and he said that the only way to fix my problems is to revise me from a VSG to an RNY. I'm a little freaked out honestly! I avoided that surgery to begin with because it scared me, now it looks like if I want to lead a normal life I need to do this. Of course I started reading stuff online, and I'm even more freaked out now! People talking about all the issues they've had, even talking about having reversals because things were so bad! Could anyone that's had a VSG to RNY please post your experience...either on here, or message me. I c…

Well, hello everyone! I just happened to come across this site while researching. I wish I'd have found it much sooner!. So, I need some assistance. Please be forewarned, this will be a rather long post so, if you don't want to read too much, I won't be offended....feel free to stop reading!! I decided to have the plastic surgery for the removal of excess skin from my arms as well as a breast lift and augmentation (but with my own tissue, not implants, a story for anothe…

I am currently in the process of trying to get approved by Aetna for revision surgery from sleeve to bypass. I have GERD, regain and a "deformed fundus" (which looks like an addition pouch up top/ shaped like the letter "P") from my pouch stretching abnormally. My surgeons office submitted the pre-cert to Aetna on Friday. I am just wanting to hear people's Aetna revision experiences. Thanks!

I had my surgery about 6 years ago and went from 125kg to 85kg and dieted off after that down to 71kg then I managed to stretch the pouch area as no one warned me about carbonated drinks and now I am back to just over 100kg and rising! Has anyone had a revised sleeve surgery yet and if so please let me know how it went and any other helpful info.! Thanks Emma

So I was banded in 2006 at 293 lb, at the age of 24. My lowest weight was 145 about 18mo post op. I've maintained 175-185 through seriously "getting it" - good eating habits and regular exercise. December 2014 I learned that my band tubing was no longer connected - likely due to complications with the low profile port I had installed behind my belly button, in my opinion. Anyway- in December 2014 time they did a scope to see if I was a candidate for repair - I am not, there is damage to my esophagus. I was having some restriction just from the device and didn't really want to "face the facts". I did nothing. Now...I think I need to do …
