  13. After 4 months of crossing off requirements for my surgery center and my insurance company I was denied. The reason was one weight loss surgery per lifetime. That sounds pretty final to me. Has anyone else had this happen and then was approved after an appeal? My lapband kept tightening on me and then I would have to get an unfill then refill and repeat. The last time when i was getting refilled I developed GERD and could not get filled to proper restriction because the GERD was too awful. Thank you in advance with any info. Jen
  14. Hi, I had the lapband as well and lost 100lbs. like you, with a lot of hard work. Then it tightened too tight but wasnt slipped or stretched and they took Fluid out. Then it did it again. Each time going in was 300.00. The last time they tried to refill it, I got GERD so bad I couldn't stand it. So only partially filled now and almost back to preband weight. I am going through the revision to rny and I am worried about what family will say about another surgery. My husband is super supportive and Im so thankful for that, but Im worried about what his family will say for sure. Good luck with everything! Jen

  18. Maybe you should call your surgeon's office if you haven't been sick or had a cold/bronchitis and if you do not have asthma.
  19. I am going through bariatric classes to get ready for surgery and our bariatric team told us it was to shrink our liver before surgery. They are very strict about it.
  20. I had my band placed in 2007 and lost 100lbs. Then it got too tight. Then too tight again and I could not get anymore fills due to GERD. My bariatric surgeon will no longer place bands. He suggested a revision and after a lot of research I decided for bypass. I chose this due to my eating behaviors of wanting sweets and fat. With the bypass, I cannot have those due to possible dumping syndrome. Second reason is I have read some increased symptoms of GERD. I am currently working on my bariatric checklist of the things I have to do to have surgery. Keeping fingers crossed it will happen.
