Need Revision to a Vertical Gastric Banding

Hello Everyone,

In 2000 I had a Vertical Gastric Banding here in Oklahoma City by Dr. Mason Jett. Over the years I've had several symptoms that have been disconcerting.

Is there anyone else out there looking into getting a revision? What are you looking into...sleeve or a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass?

Thank you in advance,

Amy

I just had a revision to rny. I love it! So much better!!! CHose that because I had reflux with the band so the sleeve was out.

Not trying to ask tmi but are you able to have bowel movements? With this band it requires crazy efforts and taking fleet everyday.

Thank you in advance,

Amy

I had a revision from band to sleeve on January 23rd. First week was awful. A lot of pain from where the port was which my dr said would happen. Almost three weeks out. So happy. Feeling good and down 13 pounds! Good luck to you.

How long did you have the band before you had the revision?

Did you have the mesh band or silicone?

I just appreciate you replying. What made you decide to go with the sleeve instead of Gastric bypass?

Thank you in advance,
Amy

I had my band for 6 years. I just had it out 2 weeks ago. Now I have to wait 3 months to heal. My surgeon feels the bypass is what he will do. When he took the band out he said it was a mess! Lots of stuff all around the band. I'm so glad to have it removed. So l'm looking for people that have traveled this path. Good luck to your decision.

I'm going to have the Gastric Bypass as well I've decided. Did you have problems going to the restroom with the band?

I've always had that issue. My dr had me add miralax. Do 1/2 cap every day and am perfect now.
