Had RNY revision 8/23 and went from 408lbs to 344 in 2 weeks. Problem is, have not lost any since then. Getting discouraged. Tired of people asking how much you lost, and answering "nothin". What am I doing wrong?

I had the sleeve in March 2018 with hernia repair. The hernia failed and my stomach is in chest . I have acid reflux really bad, has anybody been through this and what revision surgery would be best. Thanks

Going from Sleeve to By Pass due to Acid Reflux. Surgery has been approved and will be on Oct 24th. I've struggled with this decision for almost 3 years and finally got the courage to move forward. No liver shrink required this time, as I'm spot on with my weight (could lost 10 lbs). My doctor wants to keep a close eye on me so I don't lose to much. Also anxious to see if it helps improve my diabetes further than what the sleeve did. I'm not looking forward to the learning curve with eating the doctor says there will be...very afraid of possible dumping..I never had that with the sleeve. Fearful that I will never be able to eat a cupcake for the rest of my life…

Had sleeve 9/2016 was doing great till 6-8 months ago started regaining weight (30+) yes I have been eating more but nothing drastic and still exercise 1 hour a day. So frustrating! Saw my surgeon says I qualify for RNY I’m considering it but he told me that I won’t loose that much more. Can you tell me what the average would be and how successful people have or have not been with a revision. Having a UGI later this month to rule out reflux (not sure if I have that) thank you!

How long before you were allowed to lift over 10 lbs, after your revision?

For a couple of years now there have been reports of the danger of heartburn drugs/PPI blockers like zantac that are commonly used to help with the side effects of gastric surgery. Hello all. It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted in here. I had sleeve in 4/2014. Was doing good, lost 80 lbs (definitely not as much as I needed to or hoped for) and as of 3 years ago I’ve developed server GERD and bad stomach pains. I’ve also had Achilles’ tendon repair surgery and a muscle tear surgery on my left elbow so my mobility has been very very limited. Achilles’ tendon surgery recovery time is exactly 1 year. And I had both done so to say the least, I’ve been home...not being able to do exercises at all, except resistance bands which I do do. So, with my weight gain all 80 plus more regain I’m exactly 22 lbs heavier than I was the day of my VSG surgery.…

I got the sleeve in 2017 and lost 40 lbs but my sleeve stretch due to some medications I have to take for RA and I had reflux. I gained 30 of the 40 back. I just had the VSG revision done last Wed with a hernia repair (I had not heard of getting a hernia with the sleeve - insurance paid) and I am still feeling the reflux. I am told it will get better but right now it doesn't feel that way. It's not as bad but it's only been less than a week. I just hate starting over it feels harder. I am craving to eat solid food and the healing part is hard also. I feel like phase one liquids is taking forever to pass.

Hi im having my surgery 25 nov sleeve revised to rny. What are the daily requirements for protein after surgery and is it ok if i use this product. You can drink it with milk or water or even sprinkle over food

I will be having my gastric sleeve converted to the RNY hopefully, in December. I was told by my provider that they never had to get the authorization up front with Medicare. She said they submitted the letter of medical necessity with the claim when they filed and they never had any problems. I believe that Medicare has guidelines you must follow in order for them to cover my procedure. The problem is I'm not overweight, but I'm being revised due to spontaneous reflux. Everything I eat the majority of it comes back up. I definitely have the medical necessity. In my doctor's notes he states that I am malnourished and not receiving the nutrients I need to sustain…

I am going to have a conversion from lap band to RNY in 2 surgeries. My lap band removal is scheduled for Aug 26th. For those of you who had the lap band removed in a stand alone surgery, how was the recovery? Trying to decide how much time to be off work and if i need to find someone who can stay with me or if just a ride home is good. Also - how long after the band removal before you were ready for RNY? Gastric sleeve Surgery is December 2015. Lost 115 pounds, No problems until Tuesday. Stomach was off, no appetite, Wednesday some pain, Thursday severe pain, friday went to dr. Ct scan shows sleeve has Herniated into esophagus. As I breathe the diaphragm is constricting the sleeve and my scar tissue. The er gave me iv fluids, prescription for caraphate and said see a GI asap for scope.i am to stay on liquid doctor until then. My doctor retired so I have to find a new bariatric doctor. Any one have any experience with this issue? Use the Nicholson clinic in Dallas? Any help or ideas?

I had sleeve surgery in 2015, 6 months later I stopped losing weight, and felt no restriction. I am still obese and need to lose alot of weight according to several of my Drs. and A1c and other bloodwork. If you've had revision are you happy with RNY. Is it worth another surgery? I have an appt next week to discuss with WL surgeon.

Hello, I had a revision from Lap-band to Mini-bypass exactly 1 year ago. It wasn't the greatest success. I lost about 47 pounds but still have 33 to go. My doc and dietitian are both happy as they said this is average for revision, age etc. I am not happy at all. I have seen several people have success with the injection Saxenda. I was wondering if anyone had any drug help to lose the last of the weight. I still have a hefty amount to go and its not moving. Yes I have some hurdles incl Thyroid and some other issues but really, really want to progress further. I was never happy with the revision. I wish I had done RNY. I NEVER had the full button. I had my revision on August 21st, so as of right now I’m one week post-op. I’m still having a lot of pain where they “did all of the work”. It’s almost like a burning/sharp pain every time I move or walk. Did anyone else experience this a few days after surgery? I know there’s going to be some pain during the healing process, but this doesn’t feel normal.

My surgeons office called me to let me know my insurance fully approved my Monday surgery. I was pretty sure they would, but it is still nice to hear those words!

So I had my sleeve done in 2014. Day of surgery I was 210 pounds. Lowest I dropped to was 174. I maintained my weight between 180-190 for a couple of years. With in the past year gained back all the weight I lost and then some. I’m currently at 212 pounds. I think I have some sort of hernia, and HELLA MEGA BAD reflux. I take Zantac everyday, like even cereal with milk gives me bad heartburn. So now here I am, thinking I should get some revision surgery. I already made an appt for a consult. But I’d also like y’alls opinions or suggestions. -What’s better post sleeve, Roux en Y or bypass? Also, what are some things y’all wish you would have known with revision???

I had VSG on 11/30/2012 and have kept off about 110# in the 6.75 years since then. I am ~ 25# overweight but right about at my original goal. I'm 5'11" (male), 195#, 34" waist, very fit and active, etc. I was down to 175# when I ran marathons but have had a few hip issues that are now resolved and had a minor regain. Okay, I want my sleeve revised or maybe not? I have to go through a 6 month process. I am beeing seen by one of the top bariatric surgeons. So here are some positives: (1) I have not gain all my weight back. (2) Having another procedure does not guarantee my GERD will be completely eliminated. (3) I will work with a specialist for WLS patients with GERD. (4) Following this lifestyle, I can get healthier and lose more weight. (5) I am willing to do this for at least 6 months. (6) My hernia will continue to be monitored. (7) I will increase my exercise.

Had VSG 11/2014 and lost 60lbs. Felt great! Regain crept in and I’m up 30lbs. Tomorrow morning I’m having conversion to RNY. I’m confident in my decision and my surgeon. Would love to hear from other “revisionistas”?

I'm finally come to a peaceful mindset about my conversion surgery from Sleeve to Bypass. My surgery date is set for Sept 19th. I have met with my surgeon's assistant and the hospital pharmacist to go over my current meds and meds post op. My surgeon's assistant informed me about changes to recovery meds. My surgeon office no longer prescribes the pca pump or heavy narcotics. I don't know what to make of this. I'm a little worried about pain after surgery. I had the sleeve done back in 2016, but due to pregnancy, I gained half of the weight back. I did a revision in July 3. I have felt like my stomach is still large and the only thing I’ve encountered is food getting lodged in my throat now. I haven’t lost that much weight... like 21 pounds since surgery revision. Hello All, In 1998 I had a VGB. I did really well with it, and I went from 302 to 155. Now after suffering for years with Gerd I have developed Gastritis. I have also regained all but 80 pounds. I saw a baratric surgeon last Thursday and I will be able to get it done quicker because I have been through it all before and did rather well with weight loss. I had the Barium swallow test last week and it showed as soon as I swallowed it would come part way up my esophagus. Next week I get the EDG I look forward to meeting with you all and all that I can learn from you. I know the revision will be completely different from the VBG. Lynda

Hi All, I had my lapband put in in 2007 and was initially very successful. I lost 145 lbs in 2 years and did great for another 3. Unfortunately, I started having issues with my band including horrible heart burn, food getting stuck, etc. I have had fills and unfills over the years but have been largely unfilled for a long time. Lap band revision Hi all I was just curious if anyone had chosen a lap band revision and if they had gone through and did a different surgery are they happier that they did and when did they have to go to the same requirements for insurance that they did the first time around like psychiatric exam and the six-month diet the second time?

A year ago, I went in for a Lap band to SIPS revision, but there were complications with the removal of lap band, so the surgeon cut things short and only did the sleeve portion of the procedure. I was massively disappointed (especially since I was self pay), but wasn't much I could do about it. I had good results initially. I lost 50 lbs during the first 'honey moon' 4-5 months, then things just stagnated. I dieted really really hard, went to gym every other day, and even tried Intermittent Fasting, but my weight would just bump around the same 3-4 lb range. I just was stuck. This went for 2-3 months, until I finally gave up, at which point the weight starting…

I’m scheduled for a revision from VSG to RNY on 10/4 (VSG 2016, HW 246, LW 186, CW 233). Hoping to resolve my reflux and regain. So, here's the deal. I had RNY gastric bypass 20 years ago. I probably lost about 80lbs, I remember distinctly never weighing less than 200lbs. In the last 20 years, I've gained all of the weight back. About 5 years ago, I found out that WLS could be revised. After some research, I recently decided to pursue a revision. I have a consultation with a surgeon scheduled this Friday. I would like to hear from anyone who had an RNY gastric bypass revised. What was the experience like? For those of you who had band to bypass and had a lot to lose, what was your average weekly weight loss in the first 6 months? Year? I know every person is different and it depends on what you do with the tool, I'm just trying to understand what's possible. All set for 8/23/19. This is my 2nd rny gastric bypass. First one was 17 years ago. Then I was 516 lbs, lost down to 175, bounced back to 400. This is my last rodeo. Gotta make it happen. Got 9 grandkids that love their Papaw.

I had a distal Roux en Y gastric bypass around 2002. I had lost about 140 pounds but have gained most of it back. Has anyone had their Roux en Y pouch reduced and stoma tightened? The doc has already approved me for surgery. I'm wondering if anyone has had this done. Thank you!! ?

Had revision in February due to GERD and narrowing esophagus. Absolutely no acid reflux anymore.

Had my revision to RNY yesterday. Surgery went well and they also fixed a pretty large Hiatal hernia. Water is going down fine. I keep sleeping with my mouth open & it is royally drying my mouth out. They gave me an anti nausea patch behind my ear that is working like a charm . The pain is also different from when I had the sleeve. More gas in my chest this time & it feels like I did 8million sit-ups, but I know each day will get better. To all those getting revision- make sure you walk laps around the floor and definitely take the main meds. They work! And make sure you ask for sugar free popsicles ! I assume the Dr is going to make me stay an extra night but not sure.…

Hello y’all! I just wanted to give an update on my journey so far. It has been rough. I was in the hospital 2 nights for my initial surgery. Was released on a Thursday. The following Sunday I was back in the hospital due to cellulitis in my left side but not from my incisions. I was there overnight because of the cellulitis and dehydration. I was released the next day. I was working of fluids and was fine but got very little in when it came to anything but water. I thought it was normal. I was getting in 32-48oz of water and the nutritionist said that was good for only being 2.5 weeks post op but to keep working on it. Week 3 rolls around and I am having a hard …

Just curious- for those of you who had revision from VSG to RNY, are there any foods you ate all the time with the sleeve that you can no longer tolerate after your revision to RNY (or vice versa)? I’m still on full liquids, but I really had no problems with any foods (except kale) after the sleeve. I go back to work when I’m on puréed and afraid of eating something that will make me sick at work.
