Revision Surgery

Hello All,

In 1998 I had a VGB. I did really well with it, and I went from 302 to 155.

Now after suffering for years with Gerd I have developed Gastritis. I have also regained all but 80 pounds. I saw a baratric surgeon last Thursday and I will be able to get it done quicker because I have been through it all before and did rather well with weight loss. I had the Barium swallow test last week and it showed as soon as I swallowed it would come part way up my esophagus. Next week I get the EDG :(

I look forward to meeting with you all and all that I can learn from you. I know the revision will be completely different from the VBG.

Quick question, did you have GERD prior to your 1998 surgery? Or was it acquired after you had the procedure? If you acquired it after the procedure, was it not well maintained with medications? Hope

  • I will be getting a Gastric Bypass, I was told it could be an open surgery. I had that the first time and am praying I get laparoscopy this time! Thanks!

I didn't have gerd until after my sleeve and pretty quickly after. I have been taking Omeprazole for as long as I can remember, but still had break through gerd. My surgery is Sept. 16th, getting here quickly! Thanks!
