Hi all, so glad they added this forum! I was sleeved in 2017 and lost 90lbs. Unfortunately I experienced great loss and trauma in 2019 to recent and find myself meeting the criteria for weight loss surgery again. I’ve done a lot of work on myself since and learned how to cope without using food. I’m starting the approval process for a revision on 11/19/20. Anyone on here get a second surgery due to weight gain? I know they do revisions for GERD and other issues but I want to hear from anyone who had a revision for gain. Did you sleeve to bypass? Resleeve? Sleeve to DS? Bypass to...? Did insurance cover it? Make you do a diet program…

Had my VSG in 2018, had GERD before surgery and have been on Lansoprazole since surgery. Recently, started having severe nausea with just a teaspoon of food. Went to see my doctor, he sent me to have an endoscopy. Had endoscopy and then balloon dilation with no relief. I lost almost all of my weight from the sleeve, now that I cannot eat I have lost more. I have researched and saw that people who have had my issues and had the revision were able to come off the medication for GERD completely. The worst part and scariest part to me is the difficulty swallowing. This is a latent symptom, but I am glad it has not shown up earlier because I am not sure how I would have that …

2012 Sleeve 12/02/202 RVISION TO BYPASS Starting 296lbs down to 189LBS MY LOWESET FIRST GO ROUND. Started back drinking Cokes n Nos. Stopped walking and lifting. Over the next 2 years put weight went back up to 240. 2017-2019. 2020 decision was made when I was told about hernia if I had not had hernia like many of you who have chosen to do a revision. Okay. So I had my sleeve done back in October of 2017. I was doing really well and went down to 185lbs. I’m now back up to 235lbs. August of 2018 my father was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed in May 2019. I have had my surgery and everything went well but I had no idea of the pain I was going to have to endure. Had my surgery on Thursday the 19th and was expecting to be out on the 21st. Doesn't look like it's going to happen I have not had a bowel movement yet nor have I pass gas so I won't be getting out. In the last past 24 hours I could not really drink anyting it would fit in my chest and come right back up like a foam. So they stopped me from having any liquids. Today is better I am able to get down some of my pureed food like the yogurt and I'm drinking Ensure clear Apple. Also have some pureed peaches and scrambled eggs didn't care for those. Wow, heck of a year 2020 is for me and countless others. I had move on after truly trying everything last year. After 5 surgeries (only 2 related) and countless testing? I will qualify for my revision sometime in 2021. Maybe it was this knee pain that I am currently feeling [emoji16] I am so scared. I don't know why? I know that is my best way to improve my health and increase longevity. I talked to so many doctors and mental health professionals over the last year. Opinions vary! I am cassey new here. I had a revision Sleeve to GB. My Sleeve was in 2010 and my GB was 11/30/2020. I am out of breath alot and went to get checked out in ER today. They said I have no clots and I am happy about that. I cant eat or drink much and so I am not getting all the fluids needed. I really hope this gets better. I am not sure if the fact I lost 19 pounds since surgery has anything to do with my symptoms. I just need some support and need to know that I will feel better soon. And I have experienced dumping I think and that is no fun either, and that sometimes makes me not want to drink or eat.

Hi all, I had a gastric band fitted in 2013 and initially did quite well with it losing about 100 lbs. Unfortunately, then I was naughty and portion sizes crept up, fatty foods became more prevalent and last year I was advised to have an MGB. It was delayed due to Covid but eventually got my date about a month ago. My surgery was 19th November so I'm only 2 weeks post op. I had the band removed and the conversion in the same surgery. Hey guys I really need some help from "real people with real experiences", my weight is increasing despite having a lap band in and I need to do something to stop it in its tracks. I have been dieting forever but this year I have done about 7 different diets, from Keto, SW, Calorie Counting etc and I am now heavier than I was on January 1st and what worries me is what my weight will rise up to if I don't do something. I am 4 1/2 weeks post op and have not felt any kind of restrictions as I did with my sleeve before being converted to Roux-en-Y along with a hiatal hernia repair. I am worried and especially now after seeing my operative report and knowing my Doctor only did a 30 ml pouch with a 150 cm Roux alimentary limb. This I understand is big and long for this surgery. Now I am scared I won’t lose that last bit of weight or maintain per not feeling any restrictions like I did with the sleeve. Has anyone had to have the 24 hour PH test??? Did it help with approval for revision?

Prior to surgery my anxiety and depression were very well controlled by Zoloft and Lamictal. I was doing great until about a week ago when I started experiencing withdrawal type symptoms like dizziness, visual issues, and anxiety. I have been reading articles about bioavailability of meds post RNY. I’m 6 wks post op from revision to RNY. My doc wants me to try liquid Zoloft. Anybody have any experience with this? I’m scared and frustrated I was not warned of this possibly happening after surgery.

My surgeon says my pouch is fine but the opening to my intestines is big so good just flows through. I’m ready to get this done so I can be active and healthy.

I had my sleeve surgery in 2013 and have had GERD 6 months after the surgery. I have been on omeprazole for 7 yrs. I went from 40 mg once a day to twice a day. My surgeon now feels that a revision is necessary to resolve this issue. I just meet with him on 10/14 and I am scheduled for surgery for 11/19 upon approval from my insurance company. I will have the revision and repair the hiatal hernia I have too. I did not think it would be this soon. I had my sleeve done in 2011, reached my goal weight of 138, and have maintained it since. I developed GERD about two years after the sleeve surgery. I've been on omeprazole since, the max dosage the past two years. GERD gave me an esophageal stricture which causes food and liquids to regurgitate back into my mouth after swallowing. It's truly gross to have to repeatedly reswallow the same mouthful of food. Sometimes things get stuck and I have to vomit them up. I've had a couple of endoscopies, a BRAVO study, and esophageal manometry. The manometry shows I have achalasia (impaired swallowing) too, not surprising when you only have a 12.5 mm wide esophagus. Im new here , but feel like i need to find a pal to chat with to maybe went through some things like me. Go first gastric bypass 2011 after having heart failure. Went from 550 lbs down to 254 lbs. I was so happy . Became a teacher ect. Then from 2013 to 2018, i ended up needing 3 surgeries. Weight started to come back. Then in 2018 got injured at work, needed two surgeries on my knee. So I had the DS a week ago today, due to some weight regain 5 years out from VSG. I have been searching and searching for ppl's experience revising from VSG to DS. I want to hear from you!! I know my weight loss will be slower than with virgin DS, but I guess I'm lacking Faith that I can lose at all, just relying on malabsorption. I am watching what I'm eating (portions and carbs) . Please share with me your experience and loss! And how long was your belly sore? I'm still pretty sore, with the vsg I was back to normal in a couple days. Not so with DS!!

Hi all. Long time lurker but first time posting ? I was ‘sleeved’ a few years back, was successful in losing some weight, though due to different circumstances regained a large portion of that weight and also developed qUite severe GERD. My surgeon has recommended the bypass for me which is now all booked in for December 2020. Feeling excited, nervous, fear of failure again etc. hoping for a smooth journey ahead and will definitely looking forward to being a part of this community. Thanks!

Couldn’t enjoy waking up in recovery room knowing operation was complete. So sad. So horrific Anyone have severe pain post op. I woke up in operating room. Crying with severe pain. Wondered why I had this surgery. Wondered what happened. Thought I was dying. I said to person next to my bed I need pain meds. She said your going to be getting pain meds. Or we gave you pain meds. It was horrible. I wasn’t being helped. I would rather be knocked out. I was so looking forward to coming to in the operating room knowing I survived my operation and it was over. I had a gastric sleeve in 2012 and went down to 167. I'm 5'11" so I looked great. I gained weight after the 5 year mark and went up to 235 [I was originally 280] and I was so depressed. I got a revision sleeve. First 2 weeks I lost 5 lbs each and then BAM nothing week 3 and GAINED 3 lbs week 4. I swear to you if I'm even getting 1200 calories once a week that's a lot and I walk for miles. Anyone else have this experience and any words of hope? Hanging by a thread.

Hello, I had the gastric sleeve September 2017 and I have lost about 60 lbs. I've had the worst issue with Gerd and taking medicine everyday sucks, also concerned with the long-term effects of the taking the medication. I had an EGD and have gastric sleeve stenosis and angulation of the incisura. Doctor says the only way to correct the issue is to have a gastric bypass. I am so nervous about doing this all over again and was scared that I would lose too much weight. He advised that I wouldn't lose that much. Can anyone give me details about their experience with their revision to Bypass? How was the transition?

So I did the deed two days ago. Had it done in Mexico and still recovering in the hospital. I’m so ready to go home I can’t stand it. However, so glad I did this. I went from band to sleeve to bypass in an 11 year stretch. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot about my body. My goals going forward are to take my food addictions a lot more seriously, and love myself enough to continue my level up phase in life. I’ve gained the Covid 19 (pounds) like everybody else, now it’s time to lose those as well as the other 70-80 lbs I need to shed. ? I’m looking forward to this new journey. Hi all! Is there anyone here who got a revision from sleeve to bypass and lost more weight? If you did, did you gain wait after sleeve? My HW 280, Lowest sleeve weight was (2013)171, (2017)180 after 5 years, (2019) 190 on my wedding day and now w GERD and quarantine I’m 230 I get my surgery date this week for bypass. Are there any success stories of going back down to your lowest sleeve weight? I’m excited to no longer have to take omperozole but do want to lose and get back down to 170. So I had the gastric sleeve done in March 2015. I started at 309 and got to 154 but then had 2 pregnancies that brought me back to 300. Had the bypass March 2020 . Started from 300 and now I’m 271-270. I don’t like this surgery because I no longer get that full sensation and restrictions the sleeve provided. I’m doing as much exercise as quarantine can provide but it’s soooooo much harder this time around ???. It’s like the restriction isn’t physical anymore so it has to be physiological which is 100000 times more difficult. I miss eating 2 bites and being full all day to be honest. Now the food literally feels like it goes straight through me ??

Anyone have the OverStitch procedure after gastric bypass?

I'm scheduled for my 3rd surgery in one week due to extreme bile reflux. Im supposed to be on a pre-op diet that includes 2 shakes a day and one sensible meal. Since dealing with this the last couple of years, the only thing that helps to keep pain and vomiting down is scheduled eating that included carbs in order to absorb some of the acid and bile, so I suspected that the pre-op diet would be tough. I saw my surgeon on Monday and she told me just to do the best I can, but not to do anything that was going to make me sicker leading up to surgery. Im trying my best to follow the protocol, but the last two days, I'm vomiting twice a day. Does anyone have any suggesti…

My surgeons office was willing to give me a surgery date because my final pre op appointment was scheduled and I have really great insurance so we aren’t anticipating any issues with that. Hey there! New to the forum, not new to the WLS world. Having an EGD tomorrow to check the status of my anasthemosis and to see if a revision is in order. (Truth: I am HOPING for a revision.) I am currently doing <1200 cals; +65 protein; <25 sugar; standard vitamins and calcium citrate. Anyone have a RnY revision ? Any EGD advice? Hi Everyone! I am new to this site and looking for opinions. I have the lapband currently (surgery was 2009). I have had many problems since day one. It was hard to navigate around the restrictions. One day a food would work, the next I was throwing up. Years of throwing up has caused scar tissue and GERD. At surgery date I was 220 and the lowest I got was 157. I had all liquid taken out of the band and I have now gained - I am 190 now. So, I am now having the band removed. I am finally feeling like myself again. I was expecting to recover much quicker than I did. My revision surgery was done 9.17.20 and I was so uncomfortable and in pain. Now I can sleep on my side (with pillows, I'm a belly sleeper and this is a struggle lol), the Omerparzole has helped so far with GERD, and I can stand and walk for longer periods. I have been doing good on staying hydrated and continue to work on my eating habits and meeting my protein goal (120g). Good afternoon, I've had quite an interesting 18 months after being sleeved. I developed horrible GERD and I have a hernia. I'm finally scheduled for revision after fighting for so long with my insurance company (since August) to be approved. I'm excited but scared due to other surgical complications last year. My date is Oct 29th and I've started the liquid diet today. So far so good.

Last night I woke up choking from acid back up and even threw up a little. Throat on fire and still have nasty taste in my mouth no matter how many times I brush and swish around listerine. I also am wheezing and go no sleep after fear of it happening again. I had revision from vsg to DS (9.17.20)and never suffered from this before but since the revision, this has been an issue(not as scary as last night).I have chewable antacids that helped little but boy was this scary.

Im looking to get a revision.. question was it hard to get insurance to approve for a revision to a bypass? Hello everyone, I and my revision on sept 10th from. Sleeve to duo switch . I started at 330 when I called my doctor by my first visit i was at 320 by my surgery date I was 312 by my first appointment after surgery I was 304. I am now 300 and the scale has not moved for me. I drink 64 oz of water a day. I eat my protein baked and take my multi vitamins. I work out 5 days a week. 3 days biking 2 days walking. I am frustrated with my results. I am stressed and worried that this surgery is not going to work for me. I have an appointment on the 16th and I know my doctor will be very upset. Has anyone else been through this?

I am having my sleeve converted to RNY tomorrow due to chronic GERD which I have had for years. I was sleeved in 2017 with great results. Very short surgery recovery time, very easy moving from one step to next with diet and have kept the 80 lbs off. I am a lot more nervous about tomorrows surgery. More then likely because I keep reading post of people’s 6-9 months out still in pain, barely able to tolerate food ect. I am really hoping to jump back into exercise very quickly. Well I had my sleeve done on 9/20/12; now I’m awaiting approval from United Healthcare Choice Plus for revision surgery. Why? Severe acid reflux which I never had prior to my sleeve. I’ve also gained back about 55 lbs. I know I just can’t continue waking up w acid coming from my nose any longer. Every day is the same. I try to stay away from trigger foods but that doesn’t stop the reflux issues as I can drink water and have problems now. My hubby is more worried about the revision than I am at this point. So my primary issue with my lap band was that my pouch would never stay full for long. One burp or drink of water would empty the pouch and I would be hungry again. My stomach is like an hourglass with a small pouch on top, the band restricting, and then the rest of my stomach below. You eat and the food rests in the top pouch and, ideally, filters through like sand in an hourglass over a long period of time. Water dilutes the food and boom, it all slides through within 15 minutes of drinking anything. Or a burp creates a good slide where it all spills down from the air bubble making room. Hunger returns and I eat. Worse, the foods that are healthiest get stuck (like…

I am having a revision from VSG to RNY on 9/15 due to severe GERD....can anyone share their experience on weight loss post revision? A little history: I had my sleeve done in 2015 and loved it. Easy recovery and great results. For the past year, I developed severe ACID reflux and Gerd with a hiatal hernia. Unfortunately, I gained 40 lbs back. I am having revision surgery in October. Going in to have my pouch made smaller and the hole made smaller. I’m super nervous because I’m hungry ALL THE TIME. Hello all, I was banded in 2008 at 433 lbs and lost 250 pounds to get my weight down to ~180 in a few years. Kept the band almost 10 years but the acid reflux got too bad and I had to have it removed a little over 6 months ago. My weight had been creeping up to 240 before the lap band removal and up to 280 now. I am strongly considering the RNY but am concerned about the permanent rearrangement of my insides. I am looking to get a revision From the band to the sleeve. I got my band in 2009 and had went from 249 to 145. Had a pretty bad slip in 2016 and the ER doc didn’t know what to do so I had to guide him while take fluid out. He was a bit heavy handed and I think he damaged the port. They can’t refill the band because they think the port has disconnected from the “hose”. I’ve steadily gained and am back up to 220. Been recovering and healing at home but obviously with the pandemic not a whole lot of socializing happening.
