I had my revision done on August 27. Absolutely no pain. The only problem I had was nausea afterward. I don’t handle narcotics well. I ended up dry heaving for the first day. But day 2 hit and it was all forgotten. I’m doing well, following the all the rules therefore swelling is going down and a few pounds down already. Starting to get energy. Looking forward to the next 3 weeks.

I had a VSG to RNY on 8/11. I was in a ton of pain in the hospital for most of the visit. When I left I was prescribed pain medication and ended up taking the whole thing over the course of the last couple weeks which is something I’ve never done before. Ive resorted to taking Tylenol several times a day along with icyhot on areas that feel like pulled muscles. I’m even using a heating pad most of the day as well. I’ve even resorted to using one of those motorized carts when doing the shopping because if I don’t, I can’t stand for long periods of time. I can also tell if I go long times between eating. I have not been here in quite some time so Iittle update -background. I was sleeved 12/27/17. Starting weight was 256, I managed to lose 61 pounds and got to a low of 195, ( this was May of 2019)then I started to regain. I refocused, got back on the right eating plan/exercise but continued to gain weight. Went to see the nutritionist last fall for help. We went over my food logs and by the numbers I was a little low in calories for the amount of exercise I was doing so we adjusted my plan but still no weight loss. I was 242 in Jan/Feb. Hey everyone!! I am new here and am SO glad I found you all. I had my sleeve done in Mexico (I know... ) back in 2011. I have no complaints, except there was no after surgery care. So, long story short... i have gained almost all my weight back and would really like to hear from some of you about re-sleeving or another surgery that would help me. I am looking to lose, atleast, 80lbs. I don't think I want the DS, simply for the malabsorbtion and dumping issues it comes with, however, I would still like to hear from someone having gone thru each of the surgeries. I called my surgeon’s office today because he submitted for a VSG to RYGB and was told it was denied because they want me to do 6months of supervised weight loss. I just had my VSG in December 2019! plus, their reason isn’t even listed under the revision surgery section in the handbook. Since then I’ve developed a new hiatal hernia, GERD to my mid esophagus and esophagitis. Of course I’ll file an appeal but I’m just frustrated. I’m sick of only getting 4-5hrs of sleep a night because the chest pain from the GERD is so bad it wakes me up. So, I have been on a Liquid diet for two weeks now really going on three I had a revision Tuesday on the 11th at first I had a problem keeping down things now they are more tolerable I found myself eating chicken noodle soup today because I was so craving it I did consume it and did well with it but if I would’ve just did a liquid I would have vomited back up Has anyone experienced these issues a revision vomiting

I had the sleeve nearly 10 years ago. I gained a lot of weight since then and am blessed with the possibility of a do-over. I had a consultation today to start the process for a revision. An EGD will help the surgeon determine which surgery is best for me--the DS or the RNY, but he suggested I research to get an idea of what I might prefer. Per my reading, the DS is for people with severe morbid obesity (BMI >50), which I do not have. Also, there's supposedly a greater risk of complications from this surgery. However, I read it provides higher weight loss than the RNY. I read about possible ulcers, bowel obstruction, etc and I'm afraid. Is there any way to prevent the…

I just passed my intermediate goal weight of 208 lbs. I'm celebrating this milestone today. My final goal weight is set at a realistic 190 lbs. The intermediate goal of 208 pounds is significant since that is my lowest weight in over 20 years. Also, with a BMI under 30, it is the weight I am no longer obese. I am classified as overweight. Results came so fast. I weighed 300 lbs. at the beginning of the year. It has only been 2 1/2 months since my revision SADI-S surgery. Hi all, So I've decided to have gastric bypass after lap band removal, but now the question is do I get the Mini or the RNY? I already regret getting the lapband in the first place and feel that I could have saved myself money and another surgery had I just bit the bullet the first time. I don't want o go half way again? Has anyone regretted the MGB and revised to RNY? Reflux was a major issue with my lapband. Also, I am presently between 195-200 lbs (lost 60 with lapband and regained 30) what kind on weigh loss would I expect with MGB and RNY? Any advice, thoughts, would help.

I typically have 2 shots of espresso with my premier shake over ice for the past 3 years had a revision and wondering if anyone has had a bad side effect with trying a shot of espresso with their premier shake. Hi Everyone, I had a vsg back in 2016, I’ve had regain and want to have a revision. Of course insurance won’t cover unless I have gerd or other issues. I did my surgery with GHI/Emblem Health. If I switched insurance to Aetna or another insurance would I get approved because I didn’t do the 1st surgery with them? I’m hoping someone can help me with this question ?

I’m scheduled for my revision surgery on the 27th. I was successful with the band, but ended up having to have to fluid removed d/t complications. I’ve now gained all my weight back. I feel like everything I read is people saying the revision didn’t work for them. I’m just looking for some SUCCESS stories, because I’m starting to feel really discouraged.

I had my vsg to DS revision 3 weeks ago, due to some weight regain. I know my loss will be much slower than a virgin DS. But this is ridiculous!! I lost 4 lbs the first week, gained a pound the next week, and the scale says today I've gained another pound just since Tuesday!! I want to scream!! I have been doing about 1000 calories a day, and doing lower carb, sugar free. I have drastically changed my eating habits that caused me to regain. This combined with the malabsorption, I should definitely be losing!!!! What am I doing wrong?? Someone please give me some hope that this is going to work...

Doing good so far. I’m hardly using any pain medicine and was walking my first night. The thing that surprised me was that my surgeon told me that my hernia was damaged and in much need of repair. We knew I had it but not that bad and in order to help I had the revision done. So far so good staying in the hospital 3 nights no water or ice till tomorrow but feeling good and energized. Today already walked a mile and can’t wait to drink my protein shakes! I was tol by the nutricionista that i should be able to loose weight again so here I am to the rad of recovery

Back story, sleeved in 2014. Everything went fine and lost 70 pounds. Starting having heartburn not bad. By year 5 severe GERD, gastritis, and medium hernia Daily pain w/o meds. Insurance will not help. I have hope. However nothing is done until it is done. I understand clearly the medical community primarily does not view obesity as a disease. They are wrong. It's sad seeing how I pay for my health insurance to keep me well.

Hello. I am in my 3rd month and finding it challenging to hit my daily water and protein goals. I typically start my day with a shake and make sure my meals are heavy on the protein side BUT they are such small portions I don't think I am hitting the 60-70 grams per day. I also find it challenging to drink the water. Last week I was gulping it a little bit but got sick so now I am back to the tiny sips. I am wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks? For example, I read yesterday someone diluted the Isopure drinks with water (since they don't taste that great) to help with additional protein. I had my lapband removed Dec. 2019. Gastric bypass in May. I'm down almost 30 lbs. I feel like I've hit a plateau. Is this normal almost 5 weeks out? Also, premier protein drinks and eggs make me want to gag since surgery. I loved them before. I'm not getting enough calories in currently. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

TGIF DS comrades! Just home from the hospital yesterday after a week in the hospital. RNY 13 years ago was successfully laparoscopic and I was home on my treadmill the next day. Not so with the DS. Multiple complications, 5.5 hour surgery plus other procedures, severe blood loss, a drain out my side and a 13” incision from above my breastbone to my pubic bone, as well as a several severe intestine/colon-related issues. I planned on 3 days in the hospital and ended up with 6-8 weeks out of work. I am scared, I can barely function right now, let alone keep track of the 8 million rules about water, protein and vitamin intake. Just looking for som…

I got the call from my surgeon’s office that my appeal for revision surgery was approved! Already scheduled surgery for 8/11! I can’t wait to get rid of this hernia. I can’t wait to get rid of the GERD and esophagitis. Most of all though, I can’t wait to get rid of these hiccups and be able to sleep more than 4hrs at a time without having to wake up and take tums again.

I feel like I have a lump In the back of my throat the last 5-6 days. no heartburn no acid what could it be? esophogus full!? Didn’t chew enough? im drinking fine. Nothing is stopping it from going down. I’m eating.

July 21st , I will be getting a revision to RNY . How different is life after VSG to life after RNY ... ?

I'm scheduled to have a revision from a sleeve to a mini gastric bypass in 5 weeks. I am way more scared than the first surgery. I think in part because I know what to expect post op (I had an awful recovery last time). Has anyone else felt like this before their revision?

So I first had a banded gastroplasty in 2001. I had to have a revision into a gastric bypass in 2012 because of scar tissue issues. I had lost 197 pounds between the two surgeries. I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve gained 150 pounds of that back. I’m not supposed to be able to eat sugar or high fatty foods due to dumping, but I can do both with no problems. I’m wondering if anybody else can eat anything they want after bypass? I’m so frustrated it sucks.

I had revision from sleeve to bypass on 3/5, due to severe reflux. The day after surgery I already felt the reflux still, I’m so disappointed. I still have reflux, the medicine isn’t working to keep it away. It’s not as bad as it was before surgery but it’s still there daily and still wakes me up. Has anyone else had revision for reflux and not had it go away like me? What did you do next? My dr said maybe it will still go away, and if it doesn’t hopefully it won’t be as bad as it was before, I don’t accept that as an answer. It needs to go!

HI all, I am scheduled for gastric bypass on July 17th. I had the sleeve done in 2013 and i have gained it all back, i feel like such a loser, a failure and just sad. I am excited for this new chapter though but for some reason I am terrified about this recovery. My surgeon says I can be back at work in a week (i work in an office). Can anyone tell me about their recovery? I am looking for support because I will not fail. Also, the pre-op diet its horrible. I am struggling with energy, I have a 3 year old that does not care about my fatigued life. LOL. thank you to anyone who reaches out.

Help!!! I'm almost 6 weeks post op. I stalled for about a week and when I weighed this morning, I had gained 3 lbs... is this normal? Also having trouble getting enough calories in. Any food suggestions? I have no protein restrictions now. Thanks!

Well, I had surgery again on May 15th. I was regaining weight and still in the obese category. BMI 40. I think surgery was easier the first time. I saw others had issues but I didn’t. This time I am. It is painful to swallow, I get spasms in my stomach and esophagus. I have a foamy phlegm that stays stuck in my throat. I am learning how to spit that up but I am not getting in very much liquid or food. I hope this gets better soon. Anyone else have foamy phlegm?

Hello I'm going to have a revision from sleeve to bypass. Wondering what are the typical weight loss results.

I finally had my surgery on 6/24, (postponed from 4/1, thank u Covid). This surgery went 100000 times better then, then my first surgery in 11/2016 w the sleeve. I had a completely different doctor, hospital staff & support system thru my doctors office, this time. I woke up w achey pain, nothing to severe. The incision where they went in for the hernia and a lower right abdomen one were kinda sore, but nothing Ice packs couldn’t help. Came home the next day, & still nothing to severe pain wise to use anything higher then Tylenol. I’m nervous, to get over the recovery period and on to losing weight. (The sleeve was a fail for me and only lost 40lbs on it). But also excite…

I’m scared. I honestly didn’t think that insurance would approve me. I had sleeve in 2017. I was at 275 and my lowest went down to 150. But then I had chronic unexplained migraines daily and I sought out food for comfort. I gained 50 pounds back. My sleeve is completely stretched. Somehow I miraculously was approved for revision to bypass. I still am in shock that insurance approved. The thing is. I feel like a failure. I have bing eating disorder and even though I’m in therapy, it still consumes me. I am scared that I’ll fail at this second chance or that I’ll have complications.

How can I get a revision gastric sleeve approved? Had my surgery August 2018 started at 248 lowest at 170 and now I’m up at 195. I can’t seem to loose any more weight. But I don’t know how I would be able to get a revision.  Any suggestions? 

I had a sleeve 5 years ago, and lost 75 lbs. I have been slowly gaining recently, have gained back 25. I am having a vsg to DS revision next month. I have 75 I want to lose ( 25 regain + 50 more) . I want to hear from ppl who have had this done. What has been your experience, what was recovery like, how much have you lost since, what do you eat now??

I had mt surgery in 2017 and didn't have much luck in the loosing weight department. I have an appointment with my surgeon and ask for a revision. I am unsure if my insurance horizon health nj will cover it a second time and what are the new requirements to have the surgery done again. Any help would be appreciated [emoji120]

Hello I had the sleeve 5 years ago and lost 70 lbs. My goal was to lose 90. And the past 6 months I have gained back 25. I want to stop this in it's tracks!! I am scheduled for revision to bypass next month. I get very conflicting stories on expected weight loss. Dr says I should lose half what I did with sleeve, the video Dr Weiner has says no loss is expected. I would like to know from actual patient who has had this revision what their weight loss was after revision...

Morning! What do you think? (Back story - sleeve 2015, revised to RNY due to GERD and two hernias. Revised 5/27/20, was fine and had a complication. “twisting” and had reflux.... vomiting bile and bowel ? on 6/6. Opened up again 6/8. Lasted 2 days home from hospital and had to be revised 6/17. Moved first revision to mid intestines, surgeon claims. One scare Sunday night. Thinking I had a bad protein shake and vomitted but wasn’t the same Bile reflux.) My abdominal wall is on constant fire. I know it’ll get better. Being opened up 3x in 3-4 weeks isn’t fun! Same incisions too plus a few more. I cannot or don’t want too drink or eat. No desire... Hey there ☺️ I’m in Australia so things may be a little different here, but I’m sure all our concerns would be on the same level ?‍♀️ i had the band removed in November after 10yrs of vomiting everything i ate (yay!! ??) and now am a few weeks away from the MGB- my biggest problem after the bank removal was the gas in my shoulder- and I spent my first few hours post surgery walking around the ward swinging my arm around like a loony - obviously this is not going to be an option post MGB- does anyone have any suggestions?

I have been thinking a great deal about my lap band and the struggles I've had for the last few years. I had my lap band surgery in 2013. I lost 60 lbs and everything was great until 2017, when I traveled to Hawaii. The flight messed with my lap band and since then I can't seem to get it right. I had another surgery to fix the placement of the lap band because it slipped but that still hadn't gotten me back to my original success. Since this time, I've had fills and defills and nothing seems to work. I travel allot (before Covid) and the flights always mess with my lap band. Right now, I am waiting for another fill but can't get it because of Covid. However…

I cannot for the life of me have a shake since this last surgery.  Back story - 5/27 revised sleeve to RNY opened back up 6/8 said twisting  6/17 opened again and re routed the RNY to mid intestines.  Shakes I loved last week just can’t do it.  I have to desire to eat anything nor drink.  Suggestions!?  I’m going to try and get down a premiere Protein Drink now.  Not even close to getting my oz. of liquids either. 

I don’t think it’s heartburn.  I’ve experienced heartburn most of my life.  Had the revision and then re opened for scar tissue etc on Wednesday.  Feel okay but feels like something is stuck in my throat and abdominal pain. Might be gas? Just took some charcoal capsules/anti gas.  I hope this isn’t going to be a life long issue(s).  I hope I didn’t make a mistake doing a revision. 

Surgeon called. Here we go again... Sleeve to RNY 5/27 Complication on 6/8. Vomitting of bile. Nausea. Came home and 2 days later same thing. Went for CT again yesterday. Small bowel obstruction. Wants to go back in but it’s my call. Says it could go away or he will go in laparoscopic and fix it or if worst case incision thru my belly button. Seems the collegue only removed the scar tissue And here I am. My call he says. Grrr. Food liquid staying down. It’s bile coming back up. What to do!?

I’m having a bit of an episode tonight. This hasn’t been an easy journey so far. I got revised 5/27 and was in the hospital another 3 nights this week. One for a huge hematoma, it happens. 2 nights to repair some scar tissue, a very fast healer the doc said as it was twisting and I was vomitting bile and had a sour stomach. He went and repaired it. I feel gassy today being home. Trying to drink as much as I can but I just can’t do it. Even with the sleeve I had an issue with liquids. Especially water. Tonight I took two gas pills and within an hour now I vomited them right up. Omg! So scary. Here we go again. I’m so afraid. Did I make a mistake by getting the RN…

So, I’m home ... again!!! Just got home from being re-opened after my RNY on 5/27.  I went back in, to the ER per my surgeon, due to vomiting and nausea of bile.  They redid a contrast CT. And found the same thing they did last Saturday night, when I went for the hematoma.  So turns out, he went back inside my belly, or lack of, to scope and see what the issue was.  He said I must heal fast and that there was scar tissue at the “y” part of the bypass and it was twisting. He sees it happen but two weeks out was quick. So he fixed it as far as I’m told. Three more incisions, haha, to add to the abdomen.  I feel sore and tired but glad to be home. H…

So I'm 3 years post-op. I got the sleeve and I'm looking into getting the bypass. I have been busting my butt working out, eating right up until the last few months because I started to give up hope. Anyhow, I have Thyroid issues that were finally diagnosed as hypo after a year and I'm struggling to lose more. I lost a total of 80lbs and it's slowly going up and down. Had revision on 5/27 - 4 days ago started feeling sick and vomitting up bile. Horrendous pain. I couldn’t get liquids down. I had the same issues with the sleeve though even years out. Water bothered me all the time. Had to do sips all the time. Other liquids not so much. But nothing stayed for.  Surgeon requested a ER visit so Off I went. Turns out that something was going on. Had a contest ct scan but was normal as it was on Saturday when I had one for my large hematoma.  I just had lapro again yesterday as some of the scar tissue was giving me an issue. Was only 2 weeks. Just got revised 6/8 and my biggest pain is my lower left abdomen and side. Does anyone have any tips for getting through this part? I’m wearing a binder and trying to walk as much as I can. Any tips would be very much appreciated!

Morning everyone! Revised 5/27, feeling great, had post surgery visit yesterday - all is well, besides the hematoma - posted a topic the other day - but all is well .... surgeon isn't that concerned. Yesterday morning, I was woken up by this weird feeling in my chest, sat up fast and boom - acid vomit - light green bile looking. Didnt think anything of it till today --- same thing - this time I didn't vomit but the acid/bile or whatever it is - is horrendous.
